Ugh-Just Got Here and Ready to Go Home...

I just wanted to tell you that I understand and hate it when something(ANYTHING)impacts my precious Disney trips in a negative way.:headache:

Hang in there and have a great time regardless.:goodvibes

Could you have requested a room not at the end of the long hall at the time you made the reservation and stated it was for medical reasons?
This is my question too. Did you ask for a room close to the elevator? Another suggestion is to book a HA room instead since your DH is mobility impaired. They are all very close to the elevators. I don't want to open up a can of worms, but I don't consider them to be ONLY for people in wheelchairs. Personally, I would rent an ECV from one of the outside vendors to make the rest of your trip bearable. I know it's a PITB on the bus (my mom uses one when she goes to WDW) but the price is the same as renting one in the parks and you'll have one for getting around the resort too.

Well, the view is lovely this am, anyway! Jean, the medical situation is exactly why this bugs me. My DH had a liver transplant 3 years ago and is in kidney failure now. We hate to rent a scooter here because of the bus hassle but will probably have to go back to it. If he has to go on dialysis, well, you just never know which trip will be your last. I can't see dialysis and Disney mixing well, although if the DVC owners keep getting older... I don't understand why we get these rooms so often, but suspect it's because we don't stay a full week and these are what's left when you come in on a Thursday. I won't do Boardwalk view again; at least there are normally more preferred views to choose from. Hope your DH is doing ok.

We learned long ago that if my health issues kick up and I have to bring my ECV, we rent a car. I purchased the same model that is available for rental from the off site companies at WDW. The ECV breaks down into sections that are easy to lift into the car and it only takes a few minutes. In addition, bring your H placard for closer parking spaces and free Valet parking, plus the Valets will help you with the ECV.

Another thought, if you are able to do stairs, use the stairs at BWV. There is a door on the S&D side of the building that will take you right to your current room.

I don't know who gets those rooms close to the lobby but it has never been us. I was so irritated on one trip I asked them at the FD if there were rooms close to the lobby or if the doors were just painted on.

It is inconceivable that in 10 years of Disney trips we have always had the furthest rooms in the valet resorts. I love OKW and will continue to spend most of my time there but sometimes it is nice to mix it up a little. It is not as big of a deal with long trips but on short ones you feel like all of your time is being spent just walking to and from your room. We don't buy as many groceries for a 4 day trip because it would end in waste so it is nonstop walking just for meals.

On a recent short trip to BLT we made the mistake of asking to have a room near the elevator. Of course, I didn't take into account that being near an elevator and near the lobby were not even close to the same thing so sure enough we ended up 12 doors down from the elevator furthest from the lobby.

With all of that computing power you would think they could fairly distribute room assignments so that everyone got a shot at a close room now and again.

I'm so sorry your having issues......I guess were were lucky during our October trip we had the 2 br next to yours room 4005 I think it was and didn't hear any noise at all from the boardwalk...we just loved the view:cloud9:

We actually like it toward that end of the hall because you can go down the stairs and out the back door for an easy trek over to the Swan to catch the boat to DHS. Otherwise, just walk around the backside of Jelly Rolls and you are on the boardwalk to either walk to Epcot or catch the launch. We don't have walking issues though and stairs are fine with us. Now that the resorts are all non-smoking, I never put a request on our reservations so they can put us anywhere. I figure that helps out the ones that need the closer rooms at BWV.

I agree with other posters that you will need to put some requests on your reservation mentioning your need to be near the elevator to shorten your walk.

Hope things go well and you start enjoying your trip!

The noise wasn't bad last night at all-just the altercation on the Boardwalk between two groups who had gotten into it in Jellyrolls or at the Dance Club(is that even open?) Tonight and tomorrow are wedding nights--usually loud and boistrous, but hey, you only get married once (or so!). We have a noisemaker that blocks out most noises.

We did request a room by the elevator but not until we got here. We've been lucky the last few times, but never with a BW view! Ford December, we may just bite the bullet and get the ECV for the whole trip. We just stopped doing that a few trips ago.

It is crowded here right now, I think. Fulton's at DD was mobbed last night--we've never seen it so crowded! MK was fairly busy today too, which surprised me, since there's no Wishes because of Grad night. I though everyone would stay away--silly me lol.

I am beginning to think that the cash paying guests getting better room locations than members.

Seems that way doesn't it. We stay at BWV with a Boardwalk View at least once or twice a year and we are always in the last section farthest from the elevators.

I really do not want to think that cash paying guests get the better assignments but I do know we have NEVER gotten a good one. We have never even scored a middle room, not once, not in any valet resort the entire time we have been members (10 years) and we usually go during the slower periods. Like you we are always in the last quarter of the resort furthest from the lobby.

I understand that we will have to do our time in the badlands from time to time but not every time. That is why I say they should track it and make sure that everyone gets a shot at a good assignment from time to time. Make it fair.

I don't think that BW view rooms can be booked for cash, but I could be wrong.
OP, if you ask for a HA room you will get 2049 for a one bedroom, 2047 for a studio or both for a 2 bedroom. These rooms are the ones just after the first stretch of hallway (that first stretch is all pool/garden view studios). We have stayed in 2049 many times. The balcony is huge but it has the solid wall instead of slats so DH can't really see the BW if he is sitting and he can't stand for extended periods of time.

I do think our length of stay has something to do with it. We rarely stay a full week and I wonder if the "short-term" people get these rooms. Well, the view is beautiful and I'm sitting here enjoying it and appreciating being here. Pity party over!

No I think that is right, cash is garden/pool view. But I do know that the last time I stayed at the BWV this woman staying on a cash reservation was the at the front desk and was pitching a hissy fit and they moved them from a garden/pool to BW view, as the CM said, just to shut her up and get her out of their face. We all had to wait and listen to all of it before we could get checked in.

We have stayed for 4 days and we have stayed for 10 and they treat us as though we have leprosy regardless of how long we are there.

Of course it only hurts them. By practically giving up on staying anywhere but OKW we rent a car which makes eating off property super easy.

I've been in that very same boardwalk room at the end right next to Jelly Rolls, and I just thought it was my turn to get a room that isn't what I want. I mean, someone has to stay in that room. I just accepted the luck of the draw and went on and thoroughly enjoyed my trip.

You still got a boardwalk view room at Disney while I'm sitting here in my living room. Can we swap? ;)

Enjoy your trip! You're in Walt Disney World!

My DS was in the same room back in April. He had no problems with it , but he's 27, what does he know.

My DH also has health issues (bad heart and stroke) and refuses to go to Disney because of the walking involved and he will not use any type of help. The last time we were there was 2007, before his stroke. So, as a result our adult kids are enjoying our points.

I'm sorry for your "bad luck" and hope things improve.

Oh, I feel for you. We visited the Boardwalk Inn many years ago for our honeymoon. We were placed in a similar type room, near the end of the hotel. After a long day at the parks, it got pretty tiring walking the lenght of the hotel to get to your room. It was still a great room, but a long walk. Hope you can enjoy the rest of your trip! :thumbsup2

What about checking downstairs to see if they have a wheelchair or could get one? Perhaps someone from bell services could push your DH to the room which would at least help with that long walk at the end of the day.
Good Luck!
