Glad it worked out! Did you put money under the pillow?

Yes, I waited about an hour and went back in. The "Tooth Fairy" had a very late night... <yawn>

I really enjoy reading all your TF stories. We put them in small sandwich bag. It has never been a problem. I must have just gone in at the wrong time. Thankfully she believed my story. ;)

Tooth fairy had trouble here last night. I was out of $$! And at 9 pm my son says- oh I forgot I lost a tooth at school today. (He has a bunch out right now) I was digging though drawers trying to find some cash. I even tried talking to him about how when I was a kid I got a nickel. He looked at me like I was nuts.

I did eventually find $2 so that's what the tooth fairy left this time.

Play it off and they may not even remember it happening.

I *may have* once or twice taken money out of a child's piggy bank so the TF could pay them..

I love it!!! I did think of doing that too. I never have actual cash on me anymore. My DD is the kind of kid who knows EXACTLY how much money she has. In fact, she actually told me the updated amount after last nights TF visit. So, I'm glad I didn't do that. I went and bought some groceries on the way home and got some cash. But, the thought did cross my mind....

My DD has lost 4 teeth in the last month, and TWICE I (I mean the toothfairy) have forgotten to go in and take the tooth and leave $. We even have a special "tooth box" that sits on their nightstand, so it's very easy to get to. The first time, I just told my DD that the tooth fairy must be very busy because so many kids are loosing their teeth right now and that I'm sure she would come soon. Magically the tooth fairy came when DD was in the shower :lmao:. The second time DD came up to me and said mom the tooth fairy must be late again :rotfl:. Unfortunately it wasn't a shower day for DD, so the tooth fairy didn't come until after school started!

I get up at 5:00 AM and work from home so you would think I could handle this, but apparently not!

Been there!!!!! Forgot to swipe DS10's tooth too....he was so disappointed. Then while he was in the bathroom I went in there, "looked again" and found the money squished inside his pillowcase. Yeah, that TOTALLY must have been what happened!!!!

Shortly after, he just asked straight up if the Tooth Fairy was real and I came clean. Now he just tells me he lost a tooth and holds out his hand. Unless his little sister is around, then he plays it up huge and winks at me. Which is really like someone with lint in their eye, blinking to get it out....

I'm so glad it worked out for you!!

When my son was 6, he lost a tooth in the lake while swimming at summer camp. He was so sad and was crying because he wouldn't have his tooth to give to the tooth fairy, and some of the "non-believers" made fun of him.

I had one of his previous teeth in my jewelry box (Weird, I know, I guess it's a mom thing), so the next morning, he not only had a $1, but his tooth back!! I'd never see his eyes shine so much, to be able to tell the other kids that not only did the tooth fairy exist, but she got his tooth back from the lake!! :rotfl:

Aww, what a great story! So cute.

In preschool, my dd made a pillow shaped like a tooth with a little pocket in the front. It had a string to hang it on the door knob and you put the tooth in the pocket. I was so thankful we didn't have to go in her room and reach under her pillow. Made it much easier! Now I just have to actually remember to do it. Last two teeth I totally forgot and told dd that we would be on the tooth fairies list for the next night since it was a busy time of year for her. pixiedust:

I don't have kids but teach 1st grade so I have a lot of teeth falling out. I have tooth necklaces that I tape up so the teeth make it home. One day a little girl literally lost her tooth on the playground, it fell out and she couldn't find it. She was crushed so I helped her write notes to her Mom and to the Tooth Fairy explaining what had happened. Imagine her surprise when she came in the next day and found a pack of colored pencils in her desk from the TF! She was thrilled that the TF was at home and at school.

Our tooth fairy just "visited" the tooth to admire it, but not take it. He (my son told me that tooth fairy gender matches the child :confused3 girls get girl fairies and boys get boys) would leave the money in some confusing place that only mom could find.

Our tooth fairy also had dyscalculia, he clearly didn't know the value of money because one day he'd leave a $20 bill, and the next time it would be a quarter.

A final tooth fairy fact. If you lose a tooth in a restaurant, and ball it up in a napkin, and the waiter throws it away, then just write a letter explaining the situation and tooth fairy will pay.

On the other hand, if you don't lose a tooth but write a note that says "der toof fere, i lost my toof in a resturunt. ples giv me mune" it will not work because the tooth fairy checks for holes in your mouth!

After getting caught by DS, I bought the book, The Real Tooth Fairy by Marilyn Kaye. It is a wonderful book that explains how the tooth fairy can look like different people. I read it to my students, too, and they love it!
