:worried: We are doing a split stay at BLT (2/13-2/17) then AKV. Just found on another site that The pool at BLT is closed on 2/14 and 2/15 and the slide is closed up until the 15th. Assuming it is 70 degrees out, this is a big deal to us. It is myself and two teens this trip and we spend every afternoon at the pool. How does the Contemporary pool compare? We could still switch resorts, but this is the 3rd time I have attempted to stay at BLT and something always happens to thwart my plans! Should we just stay put and make do with the Contemporary pool ? I don't know, as it doesn't look as impressive as the one at BLT

We didn't really find the slide anything special really. In fact we found it actually hurt our backs to go down it :(. I wouldn't switch hotels because the slide is closed. You can still enjoy laying around the pool and swimming without the slide :). To be honest I think the pool is very low on our list of wants for staying at BLT. We definitely don't go there for the pool :goodvibes.

Thanks. Mousesavers today is reporting slide closed until the 15th and pool itself closed the 14th and 15th. Anyway to get the "official" info"?

The best way to get the official info is to call and ask.

Yes, I usually do, but wait times and customer service have been horrible lately. Trying to avoid calling :sad2: I might bite the bullet and try really early morning this weekend as they screwed up a few things from the last time I called...actually, they screwed up EVERYTHING I called about that time!

But the pool is closed for 2 of the days we are there also, and like I said, the pool is very important to us. If the weather is cold, it won't matter . I think we will just stay put.

You also have access to the pool at the Contemporary.

The Contemporary pool is bigger and very nice. They also have a slide if sliding is important. They also have a hot tub.

If it is 70 degrees out, it would be a nice walk to go over there. We went over in December 2011 when it was 50 degrees because we wanted the hot tub as the one at BLT was closed.

Walk over was cold, hot tub was great, then walk back was cold again! :confused3

Last time we stayed at BLT we used Contemporay Pool instead of BLT. Much larger, easier to find seating.

In addition to the contemporary pool, you can pool hop to the volcano pool at the poly or the pool at the grand floridian.

I did this last trip and LOVED IT! The volcano pool is the best one ive been to at disney.

Also, ive been in blt's pool on 2 different trips during cooler months, and it is the COLDEST pool imaginable to swim in. The 16 story tower blocks the sun from noon or 1 pm through the afternoon. We tried to swim at blt at 2 pm in 70 degree weather and lasted 6 minutes in the shadow of the hotel..... Went to the poly next and it was warm and sunny!

We used the pool at the contemporary simply because the pool at BLT was completely in the shade. It was such a bummer! The pool at the contemporary is such a close walk, bigger than the pool at BLT, and just as nice. There is also a circular pool right next to the main contemporary pool. It was always empty and the water was warmer. I definitely wouldn't switch from BLT just because of the pool.

Thanks everyone. I did notice the shade in the pics of the BLT pool. Definitely don't want that for February. We are staying put.
