Geometry.

I've thought myself into a box here.

My question is:

The length of a rectangle is half the width. The area is 25 square meters.

i'd love to help, but i got a c- in geometry last year.
XD

you wouldn't want my help.

but if you ever need help with english, holla!

I'd love to help Billy, but I am only taking Algebra 2.

*sigh* I'll just get the answer tomorrow. I don't think this way. I think literally, not figuratively.

Billy, I think you wrote it wrong.

The width can never be more than the length, because then the width would become the length.

I don't know!
I could figure it out, I think.

But the thing is, 25 is only dividable by, one, 5 and itself.
-headdesk-
Am I being stupid?
Is the summer getting to me?

Okay, I haven't taken Geometry, so this is just a wild guess. (PS - I suck at math)

Area = lxw
Divide the area, which would be 12.5 equal. Now divide that into 2. Which would be 6.25. Add that 6.25 to 12.5 to get 18.75.

18.75 = width.
6.25 = length.

???? Now I'm confused myself. I'm one of those people who takes the "alternate route" to solve a math problem, still getting the right answer, but can't explain how I got it.

I probably wrote it wrong. Again. It's so hard.

Sonya-Anya, I think that could be right! It makes sense anyway. :)

But why would you divide by two?
It would make sense to find two measures that when multiplied give you the area of 25 metres.

Again, the only things that multiply together to make 25 are 1x25 and 5x5 (which is a square)

If you multiply the numbers you wrote Sonya you get a really big number..

Like I said, I haven't taken geometry and suck at math but.

I remember that area = lxw.
Divide the 25 by 2 (1 for area and 1 for length)
If length is half the width, you'd divide it by 2 again and add the extra to the length?

Sigh.

I'll ask the teacher tomorrow. I'll track him down in the hallway and FORCE him to teach me how to do this evil stuff.

It actually sounds like a simple question.
It just doesn't make sense when you think about it.

I know. I'll have to ask my friends or someone...I may figure it out in a dream tonight. That's how I passed Algebra once. :p

I ended up with like 18.75 when i did that o.O
