I need a scooter for two nights before a cruise and one night after and I booked Scooterbug due to the convivence of their drop off and their price for the short periods I need. Now I am reading all kinds of horrible reviews. Did I make a mistake? Any good reviews for Scooterbug. Seems like since it is Disney's preferred vendor it would be a good company.

Thanks,

As I said in another thread, I am really biased because Scooterbug has done us wrong too much. Personally, now that Gold Mobility offers shorter rentals, I would stick with them, assuming your arrival and departure times fall within their delivery windows, because seriously, their drop off and pick up is faster than waiting for bell services.

But the question becomes are you keeping the scooter while on the cruise? I am not sure which ship you are cruising on, but many of them are absolutely massive and having a scooter may be helpful.

When I say they are massive, I do mean it, some are almost as large as some of the Disney World Resorts and there can be a lot more walking than you think.

But if you are going to take it on the cruise, check with the cruise line for the rules, as some cruise lines have been changing the rules lately on what is and is not allowed.

And if you do need the scooter on board, then you will want to factor in what will be the least likely to have issues while on board. Gold Mobility is a good choice because of how often they maintain and replace their equipment; however, many cruise lines partner with Mobility at Sea I believe it is and if there is an issue can get you a replacement, even while out at sea and some offer sea and land packages for the mobility rental where they would deliver to your hotel and pick up from there as well, if on property obviously that would have to be in person. Again, if you think you need this, check with the cruise line and see what options they have.

Thanks! I do not need it on the ship. Using Gold will cost me more than double what Scooterbug costs, which is why I went with them. Hoping I have no hassels! Thanks though for your thoughts and experience! I do appreciate it!

We have mostly very good ECV rentals from Scooterbug and we continue to use them. If there has been a problem, it has been fixed.

We've had three good rentals with Scooterbug--twice for me and once for my husband. The plug on his battery charger was bent, and we didn't realize it until late in the day. I called them Labor Day morning to let them know, and they delivered another one very quickly.

The only complaint I have is the backup beeping. I'll need to rent again for our next trip, which is post TKR and will consider them again. The price difference between Gold and Scooterbug is negligible.

I've had nothing but problems with their rentals and customer service. That said, in your situation I think it's your best bet and you almost have to go with them because of the 2 very short term rentals. I'm not sure I could do anything different in your shoes unless I was willing to part with a good bit of money.

The downside is, of course, it is two very short-term rentals so if you get a lemon you'll be stuck with it until the next day. If you're traveling with someone, you might consider renting a WC then getting a park ECV (assuming you have someone to push) - at least for the night after the cruise.

At my current state, I pretty much couldn't leave the room without an ECV or someone pushing me in a WC so I place a high value on having a working ECV.

Thank you! That gives me some reassurance!!! :)
To be more specific, I've rented from Scooterbug no less than 15 times and have never had a "lemon", a dead battery, faulty equipment or any customer service problem. I rent the resort scooter, and find the size perfect. It's comfortable, quick and nimble. It's nothing like the huge park-rental scooters. My daughter is a CM and I visit often, frequently switching resorts at the last minute depending on best deal. Scooterbug responds very quickly to my reservation change requests.

In this situation I would 100% go with the convenience of having the scooter dropped off & picked up without you needing to be there. As far as issues go - you can experience that with any vendor. Scooterbug (as Disney's preferred vendor) rents out lots of machines. They are not as well maintained (scratches, dents, batteries may be used more) than other vendors but that doesn't mean they ARE NOT maintained at all. They work. If you have a problem they will respond. I actually had a better experience once with Scooterbug - my scooter had some bad issues - I called (from my resort) and was told to go to bell services at my resort and they'll contact them to give me one that was already there for later pick-up and would replace that one for the renter. Other vendors (including Gold) have nicer looking machines but having to to the meet and greet is not a positive for me. Having said that, I almost always rent from Gold unless I'm time limited.

Just to mention, you can still get a “lemon” with the other vendors as well. We got a lemon of an ecv from walker last year. Got into HS the. Wry afternoon we arrived and the thing refused to move despite being fully charged. I was less than impressed with the customer service. I can only be thankful it does just as we entered or I would’ve been even more ticked about pushing the dead from further in the park. My point is that scooterbug is likely fine and that I’m sure all the companies have hiccups from time to time.

ScooterBug was fine until my user got a lemon that would just refuse to turn on randomly. He was like over an hour on the phone with them that first afternoon & they promised to replace that night. They didn’t. Another hour on the phone the next day he finally got his replacement late that afternoon. Never again.

He used Gold for the first time in April and loved it. Said the Scooter was more comfortable and in much better shape than the stuff he’d had from Scooter Bug.

Oof. No. They bought the rights to be their exclusive vendor for bell service pickup. They didn’t earn them by being good or anything.

Reporting on great customer service from Scooterbug. Just back from a last minute 1-day advance trip. Scooterbug was able to accommodate my last minute request. ECV waiting at the resort (lovely). I've rented from them many times. This time, I noticed that my charging cord had a slightly bent ground-prong on the plug. Sorry, don't know the technical name for it. I was able to plug it in, but because that prong was slightly bent, I had to finesse it in. I phoned Scooterbug, who answered the phone immediately. They promised to deliver a new cord and told me I'd be notified when it had arrived. Precisely 17 minutes later I received a text message advising that new cord had been left at bell services (accompanied by a photo of the cord lying on the bell services desk). 17 minutes? Awesome service.

Thanks for this! I am sticking with Scooterbug due to the price and short rental. I appreciate hearing thisd!

Just to reiterate because I don't think it's fair to steer people away from or to any particular vendor without describing the differences. And I always point out that one person's bad (or excellent) experience is no guarantee of the same for you or me

I am starting to plan for Dec 2025, and Am considering this very thing. Gold mobility or Scooterbug. I have rented form Gold Mobility in the past and had nothing but stellar experiences with them. I would like to use them again, but now that Scooterbug is the "preferred provider" it complicates things. We will possibly be staying offsite on arrival night and I worry about making rope drop that first day with a 7:00 am delivery. Does anyone have experience with a 7:00 am drop off from Gold Mobility? Will it leave us enough time to make early morning hours? We are also thinking of doing a park on our Disney check out day, so that will cause a problem with pickup.

Keep in mind that the term "preferred provider" simply means Scooterbug doesn't require YOU to meet & greet the vendor rep. They leave the scooter for you. (which could be a huge factor in a 7am pick up)
Regarding the 7am pick up - I'm honestly unsure about that early of a time and would call GOLD directly before you book it. The earliest I've had was a 7;45AM time.
I always do a park or Dis Springs on check out day and schedule my pickup between 4pm and 5. Scooterbug would simply drop it off the prior day (but I'd make sure to confirm with them as well).

We have had early deliveries from Gold before. I think about 7:30 usually. I know the one time they arrived early as they were also picking up from someone, so I was not quite dressed yet so I had to hurry to meet them (although they did say to take my time since they were early). We often visit a park on departure day due to late flights and they just ask what time our flight will be and if we know what time we will be picked up and schedule the pick up for about 30 minutes before that time.

Thanks for the input. It looks to me form the website that their latest pickup is 6pm. We are driving and may want to stay later than that. Have you had them pick up after 6?

No, I think our latest pick ups were probably around 3-4 PM. We get the last flight out to LA often between 7-8 PM, so we need to leave the resort between 4-5 PM.
