I need 2 rooms for next weekend and their website has been down all day or just so slow it times out before I can make a reservation. I can call the DD but then they can't compare prices like AAA or use points. It takes forever on the phone! They want a specific hotel name. Not price check to see the best deal. Then you have to ask all the questions like parking fee, resort fee, room type. You get the idea? I hope they get it fixed soon.:furious:
I didn't have this problem a few weeks ago when booking any other rooms and I book a lot of rooms personally.
Rant over. Continue on.

Ohhhh, that was the problem! I was on their site earlier today too, and it kept on refreshing on my BB.

The good news is that if anyone has been watching, they brought back MYW Disney tickets as a HH Reward. It had been gone for several years!

I called the DD. They said they said the website has major glitches for the past 24 hours. Made the reservations thru the DD and they gave me the AAA rate so I cannot complain much. i just like to see if HGI, ES, or DT is a better deal. I love ES, DT and HGI because the suites have so much more room and a better breakfast. I use HI for just a room to stay in.

Seriously, I have noticed that their site has been getting worse for the last year - and finally this week, it has been down every single day for hours at a time.

I am seriously thinking about switching where I stay 100% of the time when I'm on the road. I have been a HHonors member since 2007, and have been a Diamond member since just a month or so after I joined.

I have also noticed a decline in overall service at hotels, and have stayed at few hotels that were flat out dirty - no excuse dirty. One hotel had roaches, another hotel was under construction and the staff was making zero effort to keep the property clean during the renovation. At that hotel I saw a contractor exit the work area and proceed to wipe his boots on the lobby carpet. REALLY?
There was no excuse for that.

I stay at nearly every brand in the Hilton family of hotels, and I can honestly say the only one I would miss is Embassy Suites.

I have sent several e-mails to guest communications and didn't even receive a response.

I am so fed up with the Hilton family of hotels that I'm ready to wave goodbye.

I have stayed at Starwood Hotels a lot since I first starting seeing a decline in service at Hilton. Sheraton, Four Points, Aloft, and Element hotels are all REALLY nice, and I have never had to worry about roaches, bad service, and a totally unreliable website.

Ah, that explains why I couldn't book an Embassy Suites reservation over the weekend. I finally gave up and just called the hotel.

Over the last few weeks, we have been checking their site for our trip to the west this summer and it has had problems off and on during the time. It seems to be hit or miss with them lately.

I have to agree with every one of your points. That's why it's so infuriating! Diamond since 1995 and it gets worse every year and the website is awful.
I will make one exception. DH has been at a Hampton in MX since Jan and they serve breakfast and a light dinner, beer & soda every night. He came home for the weekend and upon return, they left him a bottle of tiquela(sp) and a shot glass. $53US a night. Now why can't Hilton at least put forth a little effort on consistancy and service when I pay $150US. I don't expect them to jump thru hoops but at least get the website running.

I just got off the phone with a customer service rep responding to an e-mail that I sent over the weekend when the site was down for 3 straight days.

The reason why their site has been so bad lately is that they are moving their web/IT operations from Memphis, TN to Raleigh, NC.

He also informed me that the site will be down the entire day tomorrow, and possibly the next day.

By the beginning of June things should be 'back to normal'.

If that means still having to enter, re-enter, and then finally re-re-enter your username and password (it's been like that at times since at least 2009) - then they can count me out. I am so tired of dealing with a company that is dedicated to the 'light and warmth of hospitality' - yet they can't put a polite note up on their site when it is going to be down instructing me not to waste my time trying to make a reservation, because the site is down.

If they KNOW today that the site is going to be down the entire day tomorrow - don't you think they would send out a note to all HHonors members that the site will be down? No, they have no plans to do that - I asked!

I'm afraid that Hilton has completely lost sight of who keeps them in business, and what industry they are in. :headache:

If every hotel's website was that bad I would understand, however - I have never had an issue with Marriott, Starwood, of Wyndham. If their site is down for maintenance - they put a message up on the site. It just makes sense!
