Ugh - Delayed Wonder departure....

I've been checking the news as well and can't find anything. I have a DD CM on board...so I'm always curious when there's something out of the ordinary.(my motherly worrying instincts!!)

Was not in the terminal, dog sat on cage going around through truck side from what I understand. Terminal was evacuated but there weren't that many guests left to check in.

Hi,
I was one of the people stuck in the DCL bus in the parking lot who wasn't allowed to board the Wonder! I heard (not confirmed though) that there was a suspicious package in the terminal. We arrived at the port at around 2:30pm and they told the bus driver that no vehicles were allowed to go near the terminal. At around 6pm, they told us that they were going to borrow the Carnival terminal and the DCL employees climbed onto our bus. We presented our paperwork there and they phoned in our info and registered us that way. Then we climbed back onto the bus and they took us into the DCL terminal where we received our pass cards. And finally we were able to board the ship at around 6:30pm! DCL gave us bags of pretzels and bottles of water, but it was hard not to think about the lovely lunch we were missing aboard the ship! We were just hoping that they didn't sail without us.

We were the lucky ones though because at least we could stay on an air conditioned bus. There were people who had arrived by car and I think they had to wait outside or in their cars.

You all should have gotten more than pretzels and water- I know its not Disneys fault but they should have atleast done something more for you. Sitting on that bus all that time had to be miserable.

No suspicious package. Just before 3pm, two different working dogs hit on some pieces of luggage all belonging to the same party. Everything at the terminal was locked up tight. The guests already onboard were lucky. The guests still waiting to board...not so much. The owners of that particular luggage were questioned, and the luggage was intensively searched. Nothing was ever found. The ship left port about 7pm.

OUCH! Did they have a sail away party?

Yes we had the sail away party. We counted down from 10-1...and waited...and waited...and waited. We saw lots of police cars. Captain made announcement at 6:00 or so. Didn't sail until after 7....but at least I was on the ship and not waiting to board. that would have been awful

One time when we arrived at the port to board the Magic, the terminal building was under lockdown. No one could enter or leave the building.

This was because a customs dog had "alerted" to a suitcase belonging to a disembarking passenger. The ship was not cleared for disembarkation. So embarkation was delayed for hours, and we just had to wait outside in the heat.

It turns our the passenger had food in the suitcase. So when they say don't take food off the ship, they mean it.

On our second or third cruise boarding was delayed due to an unannounced "cold inspection" by some agency. All CMs had to get off the ship for this to be conducted. We were stuck out in the parking lot for a long time in line to go into the parking lot and get our vacation started.

Thanks for providing the real reason behind the delay, I Love Thumper. We weren't really told much and of course we were all curious as to the delay. I guess by the time we received the news, luggage had turned into a mysterious package!

Carlnne, I was a bit surprised that we didn't receive a bit more from DCL other than pretzels and water too. I hadn't eaten since the morning because I was waiting for the buffet so I was starving. But I guess it was such an unexpected situation for everyone.

I hope your family and everyone else ended up having a good time despite the beginning. I guess no one can accuse you of having boring vacations:)
