The good thing is that - at least based on your signature - she is a pre-teen and not a toddler. Chances are it will pass quickly and you'll be able to keep any illness contained. It could - however - be her starting her cycle  - you might want to pack some female supplies just in case.

Start of her cycle did cross my mind, but then the slight fever through me off....could she possibly get a fever with that? She has been in "witch" mode lately, but then again, if that were the only indicator, she would've started 2 yrs. ago!

Yes with out fail I do run a fever with my cycle so don't be too surprised if that is it that would actually be the best scenario next to being over excited

I wouldn't call 99.3 a fever. I've always heard it has to be over 100 to be considered a fever.

Yes. We are fever experts over here, both kids have gone to 105.5 and 106.2.

99.3 is not a fever in children (over 100 according to pediatric guidelines), but in an older child, if she runs lower, it is more than likely the signal that something is bothering her.

And, even with the start of a cycle, you can have an elevated temp.

Best of luck OP - hopefully, she is doing ok, as going on vacation ill is not good for anyone involved.

Have a great trip! Tiger

Thanks for all the info....up to 100.8 this a.m. Seems like an intestinal virus at this point (I'll spare the details!) Her normal temp typically runs lower to begin with and she does not get sick often at all, so it is usually very easy to tell when something is going on. Will keep fingers crossed throughout the day.

Thanks for the well wishes!!

I hope that your daughter feels better soon. It just figures doesn't it? Years ago we had a trip planned to WDW. The day before my DH and DS (around 7 years old) became ill with a stomach virus. We called Disney and thankfully were able to postpone our trip by a couple of days...we were driving from Massachusetts so didn't have to worry about a flight reservation. Well it was only a 24 hour bug...hopefully that's your daughter's case:).

eeek, many of us have been through this, hopefully it's a 24 hour bug. My ped's office always suggested to break fevers with alternating motrin & tylenol dosing. she's probably old enough to take some immodium if needed. Might want to call your ped to inquire...good luck:wizard:

I feel for you. Hope she's feeling much MUCH better by tonight. :wizard:

I've never had to deal with a fever/virus going down - only the trip home (1:3 trips someone catches something) and had to dish out almost $1500 to reschedule flights and book another night (still hurts the pocketbook to think about)

Hopefully she'll be better enough tomorrow to travel - most viruses are only contagious in the first day or so of onset (exceptions to chicken pox and whooping cough). Keep the hand sanitizer on hand as well as a ziplock of Lysol or Clorox wet wipes to sanitize anything (you don't want her catching anything on top of what she has). Wipe down the aircraft seats and trays the best you can and beware of the airport facilities themselves. I also wipe the seats, arms and trays up as we leave hopefully to deter passing of the viruses.

I hope everything works out. My dd has wound up sick with a fever- over 101 - at least 6x times at Disney. My niece has been diagnosed with pneumonia 3 times when there :scared1: make sure you take a lot of breaks.

Hope everything turns out well for you. I'll be looking forward to the good news.
