OMG! I work overnights and we have had non stop calls from this number #1-866-683-7590, no one answers, there is nothing there but dead air. This has been going on for three days now, I'm talking at times every 10-15 minutes! :furious:

So I called it back and got a voice mail "if you want to be removed, leave your name and number, etc".... so I am guilable and leave this info, then search online only to find out that it seems to be a scam to phish for your info... UGH! Well even though I gave it to them, they KEEP calling. And since it's my cell I can't block the #. I called Verizon and my only option in to change our cell #. :sad2:

Anyone else getting these calls or got them in the past, did it or does it ever stop?

We can't turn the ringer off since DFiance' needs the phone for work emergencies.

We also get these calls. I'm not sure if the number is the same, but the last four certainly sound familiar...and I know its from the same two numbers alot of the time. You can say "hello" several times, but no one says anything. These things drive me crazy! Good Luck with the problem...maybe you own't need to change your number and the calls will eventually stop.

Call up the credit bureaus and have then flag your & DFiance's "accounts". It might cause you a bit of inconvenience, but this way hopefully you'll be somewhat protected from potential fraud.

The only other thing for everyone with this problem to do is to *not* answer the phone when these suspicious phone calls come in. Caller ID is your friend :goodvibes .

To the OP(who has to have the cellphone on for work emergencies)...
Could you maybe get a pre-paid phone for a while & have work use that to call in? That way you can turn off the annoying cellphone at night, then turn it back on in the morning. Does anyone else(family, friends/people you actually *know*) ever have to call you when you're trying to sleep?

agnes!

I could get a prepaid but I'd be not to pleased with not only loosing sleep this past week but now loosing money as well. This is so beyond aggrivating. When we woke up tonight we had 15+ blank messages on the machine from this number... ugh! Anyone know where you can report these things?

they keep calling my fax line. Along with the St. Pete Times. You'd think that getting fax whine would alert them that no one will answer the phone!

We have gotten a ton of repeat calls from various numbers like that. Or the caller ID will come up with Unknown Name/Unknown Number. Normally we dont pick up calls like that (we love to screen), but my brother works all over the world and we never know where he is gonna call from. So when we pick up we can say hello a bunch of times and there is dead air. Hang up, happens again. This will go for a bit. Most of those calls have turned out to be calls from companies that out source their call center to overseas places. There is a delay in the phone line so they didn't hear us say hello the first few times. Very annoying. After we figured it out, we would wait for them to come on the line then tell them to remove us from their list. The calls have pretty much stopped now.

Does anyone remember that song from the 80's "Jenny 867-5309". Those same digits are in that number that's calling you, just scrambled up.

I swear that number has been on my caller id too. We never answer it, but when we get home from work we ALWAYS have a ton of hangups on the machine. It is just so irritating!

Oh I am so glad I'm not the only one (well not really glad, but you know!!!)

I keep getting them from this number:888-244-0925 and one other 888 number all on my Virgin mobile phone for which no one has the number! My number is also on the Do Not Call registry. I get these calls, at minimum 3 times per day.

So I am here to attest that GETTING A PRE-PAID WON'T STOP THESE JERKS FROM CALLING YOU 100 TIMES A DAY. Nor will not answering, as I NEVER DO!!!

It is to the point where I am getting rid of the phone. I never had this with SprintPCS so it's back to them.

So annoying!

I had the exact same problem on my cell, and Verizon did not help me either. So here is the trick I used.. programmed 866-683-7590 to a name "Do Not Pickup" and then went into my phone options and selected a ringer to "silent" in the ringer options. So they kept calling for last 3 weeks :goodvibes (SUCKERS) every 30 min to a 1hr and I just saw it ring but did not bother me.. after about 3 weeks of everyday calling has finally stopped now. So here ya go  thats my trick.. it worked.. Good Luck..!!

My only suggestions for the original problem is to call: (1)Better Business Bureau, (2) Attorney General, (3) any consumer advocate person or group. There has to be some way to track and stop this. You just need to get the right people involved to figure out how.

I also wanted to comment on the "hello, hello, hello" no answer issue. Someone mentioned that they get calls and have to say "hello" a few times before anyone answers. The rule in my house (should we choose to answer, which we usually don't since we have caller id) is "hello" once. No response and I hang up. If you say hello until someone replies then you're basically opening yourself up to the telemarketer spiel. If you hang up before they speak, then you don't have to deal with them at all and they usually don't call back.

My cell phone is also on the no call registry. However, in the last two weeks, I keep getting a phone call from 678-517-6233. I don't answer it and it appears the area code is from Atlanta. I don't know anyone there and I've had this same cell # for several years, so you wouldn't think it'd be for someone else that previously had the #. Maybe we should all call that number!! ;)

On our home phone, we don't answer if we don't recognize the number.

On our business line, I don't keep saying hello. If they don't hear me the first time around, I hang up. When you answer, you can tell that they are either overseas or on a computer dial up system just by the noise (or lack of it) in the phone.

Since I office out of my home, both our personal and business lines are one right after the other in the telephone book. I know when one line rings the other will shortly on those kinds of calls and I ignore it.

Don't worry. My house phone keeps getting calls from strange area codes. All it says under the number is Texas, Brittish Columbia, Kansas, or some other far away state. We do not know anyone in these states or Canada. Very odd. Whenever they call I tell my mom "The whole state of Texas is calling me, but I just don't have the time for them now." ;)

We got a call today on the business line. I answered the phone. I heard a man speaking in a foreign language, then he spoke to me asking for my husband saying his name was Bob. I know his name wasn't Bob. They are apparently outsourcing their phone calls.

I find these calls irratating too. However the no answer after saying hello reminds me of a hilarious story from my childhood. Someone kept calling my grandma (pre caller id era) and not answering. Grandma kept saying hello but no reply would come. Finally after the 5th time or so she very angrily said she was calling the police to report them!! About 30 mins later the phone rang again. It was grandpa's sister and she was MAD!!! Evidently her phone was having a problem and she could hear my grandma and kept trying to talk to her and couldn't understand why she said she was calling the police or why she kept hanging up on her!! :rotfl2:
This was way before the telemarketing era. I have taken to not answering the either my home phone or my cell if I don't recognize the number. It is very frustrating!!!

Well, I put DFiance's phone on silent for that phone #, BUT, then the missed call alert beeps every 5 minutes when they call... ugh! It's been awhile now with no relief.
