UGGS? Still in style?

I have no idea if they're still "in style" or not, but I'm a senior in HS and plan on wearing my pair from last winter anyway :rotfl:.

I'm not a senior in High School and I'm certainly not a senior in life, but I plan to do the same! :lmao:

I have the Cardy style and I can't wait for it to get cooler so I can wear them again.

uggs are in every year in australia, although i didn't see that many people wearing them this winter.

i just get fakes. they look just as good and are still warm. my last pair cost about $20

We are in Ca where the trends vary wildly from the east coast and they have been popular here my entire life. As long as I can remember. They are way worth the money and last us forever. My girls 12 and 13 have them and I have 3 pair. Too bad it is not cold enough longer here for me to wear them more. I even have the slppers. I wouldn't get the knock offs. I got some at Nordstrom and could really tell the difference.

I see them all over my college campus and the first day the morning temps dipped below 65, the high school kidss were wearing them! I have Uggs and love them. I buy dd the fuggs (fake Uggs) because she is still growing AND she's way too hard on her shoes. They don't hold a candle to Uggs, though. Mine are super warm and plush inside and while I would use them to go sledding in, with some water protectant, I think they're fine to trudge through snow in the driveway or on the sidewalk from time to time. Yes, there are more expensive substitutions (Emu and Bearpaw) which I am sure are better quality than store brands, but she is in high school. She might want Uggs. That's what's cool! I remember wants Z. Cavarrichis and Bum sweatshirts. No substitutions! :)

DD13 is in 9th grade and started bugging me for a new pair in August. She had 3 pair of the real Uggs but, they all were destroyed by the end of this winter. She had them for 2 years and wore them almost everyday both years from September until mid-May, so we definately got our moneys worth. Now she wants a gray pair and a black pair, maybe I'll get her one of them for her birthday which is on the 25th.

*Remember to use the waterproofing kit on them it really does keep the boots from getting stained.

I got a pair of Bearpaws last year. They were crap.

Based on reviews, I bought my younger daughter Emus this year. They seem (no worn yet) just as well made as Uggs which my older daughter has. If you go with Emus you have to make sure to buy sheepskin, not merino wool.

I will probably buy myself Emus this year because they have better arch support than Uggs.

You mean UGG-ly? :lmao:

I'll admit I like them a little but only for their intended purpose...as snowboots. I don't really understand people who wear them with miniskirts in the summer though. Hm.

There are some really nice UGG alternatives that look similar but cost a lot less. Bearpaws are great quality. There is also a brand called Emu that i've heard good things about.

When I lived in Australia, every student in the dorm had a pair of Uggs. Back then (80s) they were the Aussie equivalent of cold weather Crocs. :rotfl2: Very utilitarian, NOT for fashion. If it was a rainy, muddy day and you didn't want to ruin your good shoes, you'd wear your Uggs. Doing yard work? Wear the Uggs.

They joked that they were called Uggs because they were so Ugly. Mostly, they were sold in kiosks in the mall. Not cheap, but not that expensive. You ought to have seen the shape some of them were in.....All icked up from being worn in the mud, etc. But I swear you could not destroy them. I still cannot bring myself to see them as fashionable, because of how I first "met" them. :lmao:

I work in a high school and I've already seen girls wearing them this year. I think they are going to be in style for a long time. As others have suggested, if you get them you should really spray them with water repellent right away.

I don't know about whether they are in fashion or not yet. My dd is still wearing flip flops to school.

But I did want to comment on the various brands. My dd has never had real Uggs. We have tried both Emu and Bearpaw and I think Emus are much better quality. The Bearpaws didn't even last a season before the sole started coming off.
