Uggghh Hair Repair!

My 3 yr old cut the tops of my 4 yr olds piggy tails today. Of course there is now a big chunk missing out of the back. So much for the new bows we were taking on our trip next week... Or the bun for her dance recital next month...

Oh No!!! Our daughter decided to cut her own ponytail off last year right before ballet showcase. Yup, there was a hole in the middle. She said her pony tickled her back, so she cut it off. The good thing is, it does grow back. It will be ok, I promise!!!

DD had wispy hair hanging in her eyes, she for whatever reason thought it was her eyebrows. (She was 6, right before the huge professionally taken very expensive family pictures we were having taken. Pictures were Saturday, she did this Friday afternoon.)

She found the haircutting scissors in the bathroom and cut them herself. First I was glad she didnt poke her eyes out, pissed that she got the scissors and over the pictures we had coming and trying not to laugh at how she looked. She pretty much took 80% of her eyebrows to the skin without cutting herself. Amazing, she never cut her hair when she was younger so I dont know what drove her to this.

My mom and I took the eye liner pencil to her and fixed it as best as we could. Its more noticeable in the immediate family picture than the one everyone took home with 25 people in it. Children, they will drive you crazy! But someday I have great embarrassing pictures of my almost eyebrow less child. (She had the beginning and ends, but no middle....)

A cute bob or a pixie cut might fix that job her sister did on her. I never cut my own hair so this thread has me realizing I will need to hide scissors in a few years! lol

What's really bad is DD was 3 when she cut her ponytail off, and 4 when she cut bangs, and they both happened at daycare with those little blunt scissors. It grew out within a year and she has her pony back now, so just have it cut off into a little bob to start the evening out process and it will look fine. Trust me. ha ha I've been there twice.

My daughter loves Mary's hair (as in the mother of Jesus) and said to me, "Maybe we should cut my bangs off so that my hair looks just like Mary's". I flipped and proceeded to give a very long talk about Mary's bangs being SOOOOO long that she never once cut them. I had to explain in great depth that her hair only looked that way because her bangs were the same length as the rest of her hair. We really diverted a huge disaster there. You can bet that if it did happen, Jesus would be mentioned a few times......

OP, I feel for you, but I'm sure your DD's hair will be sweet and pretty again in no time. You may still be able to use the bows, but it may require a bit more creativity. Almost everyone I know has a similar story, and it often occurred while mom was out and dad was napping when he should have been playing with the kids.

My daughter was 3 or 4 and cut her hair while staying at my moms. She then blamed my mom, saying she left the scissors out where I could get them. They were on top of a 6 drawer dresser, she climbed up the dressor to get the scissors. lol

When our daughter was 2 1/2 her little friend chopped her beautiful long dark hair. When I took her into get it fixed all they could do was a bob with bangs. That was last year and we are still trying to grow it back out.

The funny thing was, she was really into the Jungle Book at the time. After her hair cut she looked in the mirror and said "I have jungle book hair" she was talking about the boy in Jungle book, her hair looked exactly like his.

OMG...my 4yr old just cut off all her bangs last night. She cut them so short I didn't really notice at first because I thought her hair was just parted in the middle and off to each side. How she managed not to cut herself is just a pure miracle. Oh, and we were planning to have family pictures done this Sat. also. Can we say headband with a big bow or flower. LOL I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Trust me....my (now 18 year old niece) cut her bangs completely off when she was 5...right before family pictures. At the time I thought my SIL was going to come undone. Now, when we all look at those pictures, we laugh hysterically and it's become the FAVORITE family photograph because DN (darling niece) butchered her hair!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh...but give it a couple years and it'll seem funny. DD13 was 5 at the time she cut her own hair. DGrandparents took her to see Mulan, in the theaters, for her 5th bday and took her home with them afterwards. Yep, you guessed it. While DGrandma was in the kitchen cooking dinner DD decided to play Mulan, went into DM's office grabbed a pair of scissors and immitated that scene in the movie where Mulan cuts her hair off with the sword. Oh my gosh...it looked horrible. But, now it's funny.
