I have a pair of real Uggs I got last winter and some Bearpaws I got this year and I prefer my Uggs hand-down. They're warmer and better made.
However, I got a pair of Acorn slippers and they are equivalent to my Uggs (and their regular retail price is pretty close, but it's easier to find them on sale).
Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I think real Uggs are worth the investment. Mine are holding up so well I expect to get many more years of wear out of them.

I had a hard time believing that they could be as waterproof as he claimed they were. I thought that the $125 price was steep (this is for the shorter length) at the time, but I had not found anything else that remotely fit the bill, so took the plunge. Had to laugh when my fashionista sister told me that I just purchased a "hot" item.
These boots have been great- still watertight after years of wear. So comfy and warm that I wear them often in the winter cold. The color is a little faded around the toe. But after ten years of fairly hard wear I have no complaints about the quality of the product. If I look at the "cost per wearing" of these boots, they have been a bargain. So if you are investing in a boot that you hope to wear for years, my advice would be to shop around for the best price for real UGGS.

If i see a web page online with "inexpensive" Uggs I will go for it. I will not spend time investigating real or counterfeit. Who cares!
