UGG knockoff's are they just as good???

I have a pair of real Uggs I got last winter and some Bearpaws I got this year and I prefer my Uggs hand-down. They're warmer and better made.

However, I got a pair of Acorn slippers and they are equivalent to my Uggs (and their regular retail price is pretty close, but it's easier to find them on sale).

Like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I think real Uggs are worth the investment. Mine are holding up so well I expect to get many more years of wear out of them.

fleecefootwear.com has a code ugg15 that will give you 15% off regular priced uggs.

I have to say, my UGG brand uggs last a long time, so I think it totally justifies the price. My first pair lasted 7 years before they gave out: the boot started separating from the sole.

I agree with previous posters who talk about how you have to consider the cost in terms of how long they last. UGGS are a great value when you consider cost per wearing. About ten years ago I needed winter/after ski boots. I don't live in a area that always gets snow, but sometimes we do. We also ski and I usually don't last as long on the slopes as the rest of my family, so needed a boot to change into. I went into Nordstrom and the salesman brought out a pair of UGGS. I hadn't heard of them back then. :confused3 I had a hard time believing that they could be as waterproof as he claimed they were. I thought that the $125 price was steep (this is for the shorter length) at the time, but I had not found anything else that remotely fit the bill, so took the plunge. Had to laugh when my fashionista sister told me that I just purchased a "hot" item. :rotfl: These boots have been great- still watertight after years of wear. So comfy and warm that I wear them often in the winter cold. The color is a little faded around the toe. But after ten years of fairly hard wear I have no complaints about the quality of the product. If I look at the "cost per wearing" of these boots, they have been a bargain. So if you are investing in a boot that you hope to wear for years, my advice would be to shop around for the best price for real UGGS.

I got a pair of Emus for Christmas. I asked for the Mulberry Uggs. I wanted something that looked a little different.

Well, my husband isn't like that. He did all the research on all the brands of boots. For my lifestyle, the Emus are supposed to be better. Thicker sole so I can wear them in yuckier weather. I love them. They are very comfy and warm. I wear them with and without socks and they're great both ways. I used the protectant on the outside and they still look new and I've worn them everyday in wet weather since Christmas. He got them at Macys.

I don't support buying knockoffs. I also think people get WAY too wrapped up in supporting the latest, trendy name. Of course, Uggs are officially on their way out now, but it'll take awhile. Especially here in the midwest. There are still people here who wear Crocs. :scared1:

How is the Bearpaw brand? Does anyone have the ones with the knit uppers. Do they stretch out easily? How well do they hold up?

ETA: I see Natenapril just posted. Do you wear socks with them? How does the sizing run?

We don't wear socks.

I have three pairs of Bearpaws and I LOVE them! They run true to size... I have two pairs of the dream boots, and a pair of the cable knit. I wear socks with them. I bought suede protectant spray for the dream boots and they are holding up really well, I wear them every day and we've had a ton of snow this winter... I'm really impressed. The cable knit I've only worn once, it ended up raining that day and somehow my feet still managed to stay dry!

We also used the protectant and our boots look new.

I also think Ugg is on the way out but I prefer warm feet over style.:)

I'm astonished they were ever in! :rotfl:

Don't get me wrong, I have a pair of Emu's and goodness are they comfy and warm. But they're UGLY! I know that's where UGGS got the name from, but I'm still shocked they ever got as popular as they did.

I have Bear Paw boots and they are incredibly warm. I bought them last year and they've gotten snow on them and although I forgot to waterproof them, and they got white from the snow, I just used a sponge and the black came back.

Famous Footwear sells them and they're much cheaper than UGGs. I got my daughter a matching pair and she loved it.

I used to be a fan of Bearpaws, but after buying them for all three girls and for myself last Christmas, I am no longer a huge fan. The girls' boots are just about falling apart. Holes in the soles and not nearly as cushiony on the inside. Mine are okay, but I didn't wear them as much as the girls did. I mean, for the price, they're not bad, they just don't hold up as well as Uggs. We got Uggs for them this year.
I also second getting kids sizes for women's size 8 and under. DD12 wears a women's size 8, so I ordered her a big kids size 6....they fit perfectly.

I purchased a pair or Warmbats before Christmas, and they were wonderful. Now, if the only reason for purchasing a pair of boots is for them to be Uggs (or look like Uggs), these boots won't help at all. However, if you want them because you want a great pair of warm boots, the Warmbats are great.

I did a lot of research before I bought them and saw a lot of reviews by people who had both Uggs and Warmbats who said they either thought the Warmbats were as good as the Uggs or even better.

The sheepskin is very thick and soft. I wear them without socks, and they are absolutely wonderful. My interest was in warm, quality boots at a reasonable price, and these meet the bill.

My DSIL had some money shortages went wild with knockoffs this Christmas. She ordered about 20 items football jerseys($40), UGG's for 8 girls, plus a few Juicy Couture (SP?) sweatsuits for the younger girls and Shaq sneakers for her son. It was a disaster. Took 9 weeks to come (after Christmas) They were the gifts for her kids and nieces and nephews. The only no problem item were the sneakers.

The dye ran into the writing on the football jerseys.

She got my older dd Cardy Uggs($40), which after one gentle wearing (indoors) the bottom separated from the top like a flip flop. My dd said they didn't feel as comfortable as the real ones. Cheap cardboard on the bottom.

Juicy couture suits looked cheap. Not that I've seen real ones.
So I'd say apart from moral issues, stay away from knockoff's not worth it.

To answer the original post, no knock offs are nowhere near as good as the real ones. You aren't paying for the label on the back, you're paying for the quality etc. Both my little girls have Uggs and Emus. Emus are not knock offs, they're from Australia as well they're also warm and comfortable. They didn't just show up when all of these other knock off brands started popping up everywhere they've been around for a while and they are great quality as well. I had uggs for the past 2 years and this year I bought a pair of knock offs for myself trying to save a buck. Do I ever regret it!!! The inside is already wearing away, the fit isn't anywhere near the same its like it stretches out of shape so quickly. If you look at people walking in the mall or at your kids' school the fake ones all sort of lose their shape in the back where the heel is, wish I could explain it better but they just dont seem to keep their shape. Also I need socks with the knock off ones, nowhere near as warm. I've gone back to wearing my 2 year old genuine uggs lol
The kids' Emus are holding up great as well, same kind of warmth and comfort and they seem to be keeping their shape well, I found them to be a great buy.

BTW, Emus are not made by Uggs, 2 totally different companies. Uggs is just the slang term for the sheepskin boot in Australia. Ugg Australia wasn't necessarily the first maker of ugg style boots, they're just the brand that spread the quickest throughout America :)

Same with the Warmbats. They're also made in Australia and are the same style type as Uggs, but I don't consider them to be knock-offs.

I bought DD13 Fuggs (faux uggs). I got her a pair from Sam's club, that she loves and are very warm and comfy and holding up very well, she lives in them. I also got lucky at Costco and got her a pair there in grey. She is a very happy kid, 2 pairs of warm boots for under 70.00 total!!

Oh..btw...she wouldn't wear them if they said Uggs...she is anti designer.. she says she isn't into "tags"!! :rotfl:

My wallet and I love her dearly!!

There was a thread just like this before Christmas. There were a couple dis'ers that said they had both the Sam's club brand and the real Uggs and could not tell a difference between them except for the label. Off that recommendations I bought myself, my DD6 and my sister a pair for Christmas ($34/adults and $20 for kids. We love them! We spent Christmas with my nieces who have the real Uggs. Appearance wise there was no difference other than the label. My younger nieces Uggs though have started to separate and have a hole in them (she just got them last Christmas).
One of the dis'ers that bought the ones at Sam's said that her Sam's had a couple different brands and you had to be sure to get the ones that are Cozie Steps brand (they say 100% sheepskin on the box).

That's my point exactly.....no one will know whether I'm wearing "real" uggs or counterfeit ones. Only I will know.....so why not. Listen....a lot of people here seem so self righteous. I'm sorry if you think I'm "immoral" but I'm not alone. There are all kinds of people out there buying after market things, counterfeit things, boot leg movies, knock off purses, etc. It's my business and you don't have to agree with it. I have champagne taste with a beer pocket book by choice. I can afford expensive things. Your entitled to your opinions but I don't need a lesson on whats right and wrong. I am an adult and can make my own decisions. Thank you to all of you that gave me positive feedback. It's much appreciated.:goodvibes If i see a web page online with "inexpensive" Uggs I will go for it. I will not spend time investigating real or counterfeit. Who cares!

Oh I get it...THere are THOUSANDS of people who rob banks, I can do it because I'm not alone:laughing:
I thank God everyday for people like you because they are job security for me.THANKS!:thumbsup2

UPDATE!!!!!!!!

Got my Uggs today and am happy to report they are REAL UGGS! Thank you to those who tipped me onto the kid's Uggs, they fit perfectly and i LOVE them. :lovestruc

Also....only paid $35 for them! Had $75 from Mom for Christmas that I put towards the Uggs. I could definitely justify paying $35 for them!!!!!! Woo Hooooo
