I just checked the crowd predictions on the UG sight and for the days we will be there, March 19 thru 23, the average is a 5. Sunday the 20 was the highest with a 7. Not too bad. Better than I expected being so close to Easter.

I looked the second half of our trip up, too. (3/29-4/2) and it gave us 6,3,3,4 I think. Something like that. Not too bad. But now we added 3 days to the beginning of our trip (we are arriving Easter morning 3/27) so I bet 3/27, 3/28 will be more crowded. I am afraid to look. I don't own the UG yet, so I will look it up next time I hit the bookstore.

I looked at July, and the entire month pretty much is 8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8. I was there in July 2001 and it was really crowded but my dd and I worked it out!

I am sure the predictor is not considering it is Easter thie year? BTW, is this site online, what is the address?

I don't think I have ever seen a link online -- I looked it up in the UG at Barnes + Noble. It has a calendar for the entire year (2005) in it, and every single day has its own number (on a scale of 1-10).

WOW, I didn't know a crowd predictor existed, what is the link, I'm dying to know what crowds will be like the first week in June.

I found these numbers on-line, not in the book and it was in the updated 2005 sections so I figure it has been updated to reflect Easter. It has a 10 for Easter Sunday.

Thanks for this, what a great source. Looks like for us it will range from a 5-7 for our stay. Not too bad I guess, better than all the 8's and 10's I see for later in the summer and Christmas time. I picked our parks right too according to the chart. Thanks for sharing.

Lesley

The non-updated book had 10 for Easter Sunday also, but when I originally planned my dates, we were not arriving till later in Easter week so that day didn't matter to me. Now we will be there that day, arriving that am, and we made Easter Dinner PS (for late evening, hopefully to get a good table for Illuminations I think) at Epcot. I am glad I did that, looking at that link! It has Epcot as the best park to hit that day. Should still be packed beyond belief, but not too bad. Monday 3/28 looked only slightly better, lol. Glad I switched our vaca from 3/25-3/29 to 3/27-4/2 though, since the crowd outlook is MUCH better that week AFTER Easter, than the week before it!

Thanks a million for that link! Saved me a trip back to B&N to look it up in the book!

:wave2: Thanks for this great link. I've never seen this. Six of our eight days are rated a "3" with one day rated a "4" and one day a "6". Sounds good. Thanks again for the great info.

im wondering if the numbers reflect the fact that ny and some of nj have off the last week of april...if they do ill be very happy most of my days have been downgradedf rom a 4 to a 3

I'm confused why this chart says the best park on a Saturday is MK??? That contradict everything I've ever known and learned about MK and Saturdays. :confused3

Looks like their parks to avoid stickly follow the EMH schedule. Avoid EMH. I am not convinced that is the best plan if you are staying onsite. We have always taken advantage of early entry and then quickly exited the park for another in our 10 trips and it has worked out, plus avoiding MK on weekends and holidays is good advice.

Maybe this link will end the zillions of posts - "how bad will it be on XX/YY/ZZZZ date........

Thanks for the link, cricket429!

catriona930, yes, we've considered the public school vacation schedules for New York, New Jersey, and also Connecticut. Those states' departments of education have online calendars, if you'd like to confirm. It's not the most fascintating reading, however.

lampy, yes, we've considered Easter. The thing you'll notice is that what used to be known as "Easter Break" rarely falls on Easter anymore. I think the peak spring break season this year (based on number of students) are the weeks of March 6th and March 13th, while Easter is two weeks later, on the 27th.

beattyfamily, we've studied the "best days" question for at least the past six months, and we don't yet see any evidence that Saturdays are particularly bad at the Magic Kingdom. We've worked on this with a number of travel industry organizations, but if you have any data you'd like to add, drop me a line: len@touringplans.com. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Len

No data, just personal experience and hearing about Saturdays here on the DIS. This would be great news. I was just surprised by it.
