Uber with a car seat?

LOL

I didn't say they had stopped car seat service. They have not.

I said it was my understanding -- from drivers in the Orlando market including Joel and others -- that Uber stopped enrolling new car seat vehicles a few years ago...and that would reduce availability. If you checked it with an Orlando area pickup and it showed the car seat X and car seat XL prices, that doesn't mean there is a car readily available. It just means they are still offering that option...which we already knew.

You wouldn't know whether one was really available, and what the wait time might be, unless you actually ordered the ride.

If you checked availability for a pickup anywhere other than Orlando, it's irrelevant. Great. But that is irrelevant to OP's ability to use it in Orlando.
So a year and a half ago, pre-Covid. Thanks for the clarification, lol.
I said I checked 3 times in the last 24 hours for availability. Like how you skipped that lol.

Did you check in ORLANDO, FL or Austin, Tx? You didn't say.

You said you last used the service was in Austin, but your experience in Austin is irrelevant in Orlando.

Also, as I pointed out, unless you actually ordered the ride, you will not know whether any car seat vehicles are actually available. All "checking" does is determine whether the service is offered and what the price would be. Car seat service has been offered in the Orlando market for many years -- we all know that.

No, he specifically addressed that.

So how much was it and what was the estimated wait time? No one said that it isn't a service that Uber has, right now it's not a service that Uber is focusing on. If I had resort dinner reservations I wouldn't count on Uber Car seat XL to be available right when I want it. Like Uber was for me in Dec. 2019 when I used it on property to get from POP to Poly. I did that with my three year old in a BubbleBum and my 7 year old in the car seat.

Uber has been horrible in the last few months with getting enough drivers on and accepting rides in many major cities. Expecting drivers to be available in such a niche market that hasn't allowed new entrants in quite a while I think is asking too much.

I did say. Just checked again. Disney from magic Kingdom to Beach Club with car seat. They have an Uber pet available too. That’s 4 times at different times of the day over the last 24 hours.
And yes it does tell you before you order. 8 minutes out. I’m going to say we are good to go. Lol

8 minutes. Ok. You are wrong. I’m done.
Next time you check, please give us a screen shot of the driver acceptance of the ride and your anticipated pickup time and I'll believe you.

The other thing I would point out is that all this silliness started out in reaction to Joel's perfectly sensible suggestion for OP to have a backup plan in case availability was limited. That's just common sense, but some disagree.

What data are you going off of for it not being available? I literally just checked by going on the app and setting it up. What is the backup plan?
I quit driving for Uber in 2017. At that time, they had discontinued accepting drivers into the car seat program for at least a year. They continued to offer car seats in the app, but it was limited to drivers already enrolled in the program. If they have reopened the program to new drivers, I am not aware of it, but it's possible.

Also, over the years, there have been a number of posts on this board by parents saying an Uber with a car seat was not available when they needed one.

Backup plans might be a plan to use Disney Transport. Also, some Mears taxi drivers have been known to carry a car seat, but I don't think there's a way to request one. That was before Mears was sold to outside investors, so I also don't know whether that has changed.

Just for fun, I just did a test request of a Uber with car seat from CR to Pop. Here's the result: (UberXL with car seat was not offered as an option.)

And in addition to the Uber Car Seat question...it's just plain good common sense to have a bit of a backup plan for anything you are planning to do at WDW.

What if it rains? What if the monorail stops? What if the line for Small World is too long? What if...?

I just checked MCO to WL. 3 categories were listed as having a car seat. All 3 showed NO CARS AVAILABLE when I attempted to request one.

I have no doubt cars with car seats are, at times, available.

Posters have shown recent photos of Minnie vans parked near EPCOT. By the time of your trip plan B might be a Minnie van.

edited to add When you request a car you'll be told how long a wait. You then cancel your request. You have to start the process to actually request a car before you'll see if there is availability in the vehicle class you're interested in. The time shown in the first screen is the time you can be expected to wait for any car, might be Uber X, might be XL...
