Hello All!
I've seen this brought up a few times in the forums but I was looking for someone that might have had a recent experience.
I will be staying at Coronado Springs and wanted to make it to MK for early opening. I know resorts are a bit more strict with Covid hovering around, but i was wondering if I could get into the Contemporary Resort early, via rideshare service, if I had a Mobile Order. Thank you for your help in advance!

I was hoping to do the same thing but I've read mixed reviews on being allowed in for a mobile order. I wish I could point you to the posts I have read but I don't recall exactly where. Someone recently said they got in after showing the guard that they had a mobile order AND clicking I'm Here to start the order. I'd be happy to do that if I was sure they would let us in. What I definitely don't want to have happen is for them to say NOPE and make the Uber driver turn around. Maybe someone will have a recent experience to share with us. Good luck to you!!

If the guard does not let the Uber driver in and makes him turn around, then if you get out there you are closer to Magic Kingdom compared with being driven all the way to the Contemporary main building.

You can do that? I read somewhere that you could not get out there.

ETA: so where are we talking about getting stopped and asked for your reason for entering? MK toll plaza or further in?

I made an ADR for the Wave because I wasn't sure if a mobile order would or wouldn't get me into the Contemporary. It was worth it.

We Ubered from the Boardwalk to CR last Saturday, I had a mobile order started to show at the booth but the guard did not even ask. The Uber driver just told him we were there to eat and the guard let us in. As mentioned people have posted various experiences and I am sure it depends on the guard. We have done this several times in the last year and have not ever had a issue. When we have driven in our own car to CR for dinner they always check to make sure we have a reservation before letting us in. We have not had an issue when arriving in a ride share.

That is very helpful and reassuring! Thank you!

Can you clarify where the guard booth is that you are referencing?? Are we talking about directly before you get into CR or further back at the MK toll plaza? (I'm sure that sounds like a dumb question but I only drove into CR one time and that was 20 years ago....my memory isn't that good!)

With the road configuration, you no longer go through the MK toll plaza to reach the Contemporary.

Were your mobile order Uber visits at the beginning of the day (rope drop) or were they at other times? I'm just curious if they are more strict at park opening vs. later in the day or more strict if you have a mobile order vs. a dining reservation or if it just depends on the whims of the guard.

I'm curious how early you placed your mobile order. Just wondering if I need to plan to get up early to get the right time range. (Who am I kidding? I'm up at the crack of dawn at Disney, chomping at the bit to get going!)

Always at Rope Drop. This last trip park opening was 9 am, we got to the CR about 8:05 and walked to the MK. I had a mobile order at Contempo Cafe ready to go, but the guard didn't even ask to see.

We have never been questioned at any resort where you can walk to a park if we arrive in a ride share. We are RD people so our ride share trips are always in the morning.

We stayed at the Riveria last November and drove our rental car before park opening at DHS to the Boardwalk for a quick bite at Boardwalk Bakery and we were asked to see the Mobile Order. Once I showed that we were allowed to enter with no issues.

I do think it depends on the guard.

Very easy to place an order on the App under Order Food. You can select your Resturant and arrival time. Then you an go through and choose your items. Once your order is done, I believe you get to review it and then can check out. You actually have to click on purchase but the charge does not go through at the time. I don't know what happens if you simply don't pick up the order, you will need to cancel it if you don't want it.

Right. As long as you don't get a "hall monitor"-(Spongebob Squarepants) you will probably be good to go. But there are "hall monitors" at Disney, and just about everywhere in life though. But there are far more that will not act like such than there is that will.

When I was there last month, I saw car after car after car get turned around at the Guard booth at The Contemporary in the morning. Without a sit-down reservation - The Wave, Chef Mickey's - you are most likely going to get turned back anytime in the morning.

In fact, there was a manager training the guard as we pulled in explaining WHO was allowed to park there - People with rooms there, people with sit-down dining, and Club33. Otherwise, they are to be directed to the TTT and can ride the monorail over for quick service.

I can understand them not allowing people to park there just to do a mobile order but it sounds like you will be allowed in if you’re not parking (Uber/Lyft). Did you see any taxis, Uber or Lyft cars getting turned away?

Two cars in front of me was a LYFT or UBER. And they were turned around with a full van of people.

Thank you for the heads up! You’re one of the first from whom I’ve gotten a firsthand account of guards turning away a Lyft/Uber. I’ve heard second hand accounts where someone had heard/read of someone else being turned away and I’ve heard several positive firsthand accounts where people used MO and Uber/Lyft. Makes me wonder if the van you saw didn’t have a MO. Although it’s possible from how strict they were being that they would have turned people away regardless.

What day and time were you arriving? Was it an especially busy time for the parks?
Mostly curious since we’ve just had a firsthand account from someone who has gone in the last few weeks (less busy time) and did this multiple times.
