Uber to Contemporary Resort for MK Opening

This was at 8-ish on a Saturday morning in January (and I was with a friend that is Club33). And the manager did talk to us a moment as an example while training the guard on who gets to park or drop people off there.

Playing devil's advocate here:

So, if you Lyft over there and they turn you around, what's to prevent you from just getting out of the car after you leave the guard shack at the gate? I assume they lift the arm so you can drive just inside and head back out. The Lyft driver turns around, heads out, and, once you are outside the gate, you get out of the car.

Secondly, has anyone taken a Lyft to GF for an early morning MO? I haven't seen any reports specific to GF. Sounds like the crackdown would be the same, but I'm just curious if anyone has had luck there since CR is obviously a closer walk to MK and therefore more popular.

Usually there’s a cop car in that vicinity, right by that traffic light. I think it’s not legal for rideshares to drop at the curb anywhere in that area.
I’m the one who had the Contemporary guard ask me to hit the ‘I’m here, prepare my order’ button. That was on Sat Jan 16 around lunchtime. We had a rental car and just checked out of BeachClub. Interestingly, the Saturday before we had stopped by and a young female guard asked what resort we were staying after scanning our Magic Band. After answering we tried to show our phone’s Mobile Order but she said it wasn’t necessary since we were staying at Poly.

I did this on Saturday 1/30, drove in around 3pm in our personal car with a mobile order for Contempo Cafe. He asked us to hit I'm Here, and then told us to have a great night.

I wondered about the legality for the rideshare driver. Definitely something that could open them up to liability.

The whole situation is weird to me. I don't see the harm in allowing a rideshare to drop off at CR for a MO. I get not just letting everyone drop off there, but if you're going in and paying for a meal, what's the big deal. Show your order, click I'm Here, out you go, driver leaves. I assume the MO will only accept a certain number of orders in a particular timeframe so that in and of itself would limit the traffic for that. Maybe they have another reason I'm not seeing.

I am guessing they are a lot less strict about this later in the day VS first thing in the morning.

Hypothetically, if the gate wouldn’t let your Uber in and you’d done a mobile order at the cafe.. what would happen to your mobile order? Can you just cancel it?

The GF walkway is open. Thinking it might be easier to get dropped there but, a longer walk

It can be a busy intersection, many CM use it to get to work. By design, WDW encourages guests to explore other resorts in the hope they just might elect to stay there in the future.

However, I’ve generally thought of CS venues in a resort to be be part of the guest amenity list that encourages people to pick that property for their visit. That includes the often quicker access to a park via ability to walk to the gates from their room.

Nobody wants to get up & wait in line far longer than expected for a bagel & a coffee before heading off to the parks because there is a large influx of those not staying there also in line. :confused3

My understanding that this has come up, often, on guest surveys. Something easy enough to correct when it comes to a small restriction as to the number of guests permitted via ride-share in the am who don’t have a resort or TS dining reservation.

As one who has stayed at both CR & BLT, I both understand & appreciate the crackdown on allowing vehicles onto the property during ‘am rush hour’. The parking lot for the CR can especially be challenging to find a self-park space.

We were in the world in early March. Staying at CSR if that makes a difference here. Drove & arrived at TTC approx 15 minutes prior to park opening. Monorail not running, down the ramp we went, in line for boat. Absolutely not my favored method of transport. Thankfully, they didn’t pack them.

Crowds had just started to pick up for spring break after a few quiet days. They had multiple boats running. We were walking down Main Street at 9:20 am. Quite satisfactory IMO. Lines for the eticket rides didn’t verge onto an hour until 10:30 am or so.
