Uber or Lyft?

Has anyone taken Uber or Lyft from John Wayne airport? It looks like the cheapest way to go, but what to make sure that It's a smooth process

Yup...all the time.

About $20 to the resort area.

I have a few times where wait times ended up being 12-20 min and I regretted not juts hopping in a cab that is right there on standby, but generally smooth. SNA is curbside pickup in the passenger area, no special rideshare zone.

Both Uber and Lyft are al over the SAN and resort area at all hours of the day.

Many times, never had to wait more than 10 min for a car, usually more like 5-7 min wait. Costs between $20-25. I usually check both apps, or I check one while my husband or friend checks the other, and we look at price vs time to get picked up to determine whether we should take Uber or Lyft.

Lyft had some kind of promo going with SW airlines; it didn't apply for me but you might look into it. I think it's only for first-time users, but anyway, Lyft is now partnered with SW.

We used uber to and from SNA last week. It was fast and easy. On our way to the hotel, I was even able to schedule a stop to pick up a last minute item at a nearby sporting goods store.

I used Lyft to get to and from SNA in the past and as others have said, it's a pretty easy process. I've have a bad driver once (he couldn't figure out where pick-ups were at SNA and ended up going to departures twice before giving up and cancelling the ride, but I think he's the anomaly), so there is always the possibility of issues, but for the most part, it's been quick and easy (as others have said, the wait can be anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes).

Also with JetBlue. I get miles on my TrueBlue account for my Lyft rides. Its small, but gets me a few miles closer to my free tickets!
