We are 2 adults and have never used either Uber or lift. Is one better than the other? Will they be waiting at the airport or do you have to contact them? Also we want to stop at a grocery store. Will they wait and at what cost? Thanks for your help and any tips if you have them

Most people download both Uber and Lyft apps. Sometimes there is a big difference in availability or pricing. Both companies employ "dynamic pricing" Prices could be double, or more, regular pricing if the companies think they can get away with it. Cars are waiting in a holding area (parking lot) You request a ride through the app. You'll be given the plate number, car description and picture of the driver. Make sure you're getting in the right car. They generally won't do grocery stops. Take the ride share to your resort. Drop off your luggage. Take a ride share to wherever you want to shop. Take another ride share back to your resort.
or Book a car service. You'll have a set price which can include a brief grocery stop (Publix). Tony Hinds, Tiffany and Fl Tours get great reviews.

Wow thank you for all your information and tips. I really appreciate it.

I find both to be pretty equal service wise so I just price compare in the moment and chose cheapest.

In the Orlando market, I would guess they are about equal. There should be sufficient drivers available for you to get rides with either -- so I would follow @Lewisc's suggestion and have both apps on your phone so you can price check.

Yes they will be waiting, but do not order your ride until you have all your luggage and have arrived at the pickup area. If you order before you are ready to get into the car, you are probably going to get a cancellation fee.

No, Uber/Lyft will not wait for you to shop for groceries. There are grocery delivery services you can use, you could try a private car service (although their wait times are limited), or you could make a separate trip to the grocery store after you are settled in your lodging.

One tip I would offer is to try Uber where you live to kind of understand the process. I doubt if you have Lyft, but you should have Uber and they operate the same way.

The other tip I have is try to always tip in cash. You can tip on your credit card in the app, but the driver doesn't see that until later, and a very high percentage of those who say, "I'll tip you in the app" don't tip at all. It's a bad joke with drivers, and could lead to a low rating from your driver even if you really do leave a tip.

Don't load either app until a week or two before your trip. Both services will sometimes (often?) give you new user discounts. The discounts are for a few rides for short period of time after you sign up. Think weeks not months.

Not at all. Drivers are allowing people in their cars. Other drivers need to be aware when it's a horrible customer.
I agree with your point but can’t help but wonder if it’s also related to customer’s tip.

I am thinking that we will probably take the Mears Express to our resort and order groceries from Publix and have them deliver. For me it is way cheaper and less stress

Yes and no. I'm not sure how Lyft does it these days, but I believe Uber forces the driver to rate the rider before closing out the ride -- which is before they would know whether you left a tip on the app or not. Lyft also used to let drivers change rider ratings, but not Uber.

I think most drivers just give everybody 5 stars unless they are really a problem.

Riders, OTOH, don't understand the driver ratings at all. They think 4 stars is "pretty good," not realizing a bunch of 4 star ratings will get the driver fired. A rating of 4.6/5.0 is kind of the threshold -- that's a 92% and an A in school, but it's an F for rideshare drivers.

We have ordered from from Garden Grocer and Dizzy Dolphin before. We would like adult beverages...Garden grocers is more beer and wine and Dizzy Dolphin ended up costing us a lot because we are from Canada(they picked up from a liquor store). From what I see is Publix delivers with Instacart(never used them before) I still have some time to figure this out Thanks

Just outside the baggage claim doors. When you request your ride you’ll select what door number you are nearest
No. There are designated areas for ride shares. You have to walk to the designated area. You walk to the pickup location. The driver doesn't go to whatever door you select
