Has anyone used Uber from Disney to Universal? I've never used Uber and am interested in the cost? Seems like it could be a better option than the Mears shuttle.

Thanks!

You can go on the Uber app, type in your start and end location, and it will give you a range the fare will be in. I've used Uber with great success in Atlanta and was planning on using it while in WDW, but was put off when I arrived at the airport and saw numerous signs advising against Uber. From my understanding, Orlando is one of the cities that is very against the service and trying to get it outlawed. We ended up taking a regular cab from our WDW resort (CBR) to our Universal resort (RPR) and it was $28 including tip. I think that's around what Uber quoted us anyhow. There were cabs available waiting at the resort, so no wait time involved either.

We used Uber to get from Pop Century to Hard Rock Hotel on January 8. It was $22.40 and we had a coupon code for thirty dollars off because it was our first time using Uber. You can find this online. It was quick and simple.

You can see the driver's rating and watch their car approach on the map as you wait. You'll also see their picture, the model of their car, and the license plate number. I requested the ride right outside our room and he was out front waiting with his trunk open for our luggage by the time we got there. The driver was very personable.

He picked us up right in front of Pop Century and dropped us off right in front of Hard Rock Hotel. We used it again on the way to the airport and had no problems.

Yes, MCO is ready to ticket and tow Uber and Lyft drivers who try to pick up passengers. I hear the loophole is to take a free shuttle to a rental car site outside the airport and they will pick you up from there.

I've been watching the chatter and it looks like Orlando is going to start dropping heavy fines on Uber and Lyft drivers on February 1st, so we'll see what happens. http://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2015/01/16/uber-confident-it-can-change-orlandos-ride.html

I guess Mears has City Hall locked up tight.
