UA 99 meals?

Has anyone flown United from Melbourne to LA recently? What meal(s) did you get? When we flew that route in late 2014 we were given lunch soon after departing and breakfast shortly before arrival and were absolutely starving! I've just looked at our itinerary for our September flight and it lists breakfast as our only meal on the 15 hour flight. It definitely doesn't seem right to me, but I wouldn't put it past them and would like to be prepared if that is the case. Any recent experience?

We are Sept too Melb-LA but Qantas - ours says Lunch/Refreshment for Melb-LA and Refreshment/Meal(non-descript) for LA-Melb. I hope they are big meals but will probably take food on board also as have 2 boys!!

We flew in January and had the following meal options (if I remember correctly)...

SYD - SFO on Qantas: hot meal after departure, ice cream for dessert, salad roll at some point during lights out and breakfast just before we landed
SFO - SYD on United: a hot meal at some point (this included an ice cream too), sandwich options during the flight and then a breakfast meal just before we landed.

I know that if you ask the flight attendants they can usually find snacks like cheese, nuts (spare ice creams) etc at other times during the flight. Travelling with kids, I like to take a few small things with me too, just in case of delays.

I'm curious about this too.
I'm already panicking about one meal for a 15 hour flight.
DH and I will kill each other by the time we arrive in LAX.
I was looking at the United website yesterday and couldn't find anything that referenced anything but just one meal.
Looks like we'll have a large meal pre-flight at PJ O'Brians at Melbourne (with breakfast beers of course! Our holiday tradition!) and a big meal at LAX during our 4.5 hour layover to NYC.

We have flown VA and most recently Delta.
We received a meal after take off and during the flight a snack which was a pizza , was good.
Breakfast before landing.
I always take Pringles chips and snacks , but find the 2 meals and the snack meal halfway is enough.
Ours said one meal and refreshment, flight from Sydney leave before midday.

Agreed, Virgin and Delta definitely give two meals, but I think people are more curious about United specifically?

I hope so, but nowhere on their website does it say that. It only says one
And on my itinerary it only specifies one

Ours only said dinner and snack both ways, as well, but we got breakfast.

was just wondering the same thing last week we are flying united for the first time in July. Confirmation says just 1 meal each flight....but im guessing there must be more. we will be buying plenty of snacks at the airport just in case.

I flew UA98/99 late last year, my reservation also only listed one meal but we did not go hungry. There was definitely a meal after boarding and breakfast, and probably something in between though I can't remember. There were ice creams at one point too.
