Islamic militants claim to have taken a US marine hostage in Iraq and are threatening to behead him, al-Jazeera television has reported.

Footage aired on the channel showed a blindfolded man dressed in camouflage and holding a US marine ID card.

The card said the man's name was ............ and he was on active duty. Islamist groups have falsely used military ID cards in the past and there has been no confirmation yet that any US forces are missing.

Al-Jazeera said the group called itself Islamic Response, the security wing of the 1920 Revolution Brigades, referring to the uprising against the British after World War I.

The group said that they will kill the man - said to be of Pakistani origin - if Iraqi prisoners are not released.

The militants claim they were able to abduct the man after infiltrating a military camp and then luring him outside.

That statement leads me to believe that it's not actually a US Marine being held.

I'm certain, if these people are willing to take and be-head their own, they'll most certainly take special interest in taking & be-heading our military...

I agree, from the description above, this may not be a US Marine, but rather a Pakistani military fighter.....

Thoughts and heart felt wishes go out to him & his family... I agree with the comment above, hope he goes down fighting and takes one or two of the terrorists with him

Well these terrorists keep getting what they want, publicity, publicity, publicity. The media should withhold the names of the organziations holding these hostages and refuse to show tapes of them. These terrorists KNOW that no country will bow to their demands, so the only thing they REALLY WANT and EXPECT, they keep on getting.

Prayers to whoever it is that they are holding hostage and to that person's family and friends.
