So I booked the trip to Orlando this morning through Virgin holidays (that turned out to be the best deal for us).
Then this afternoon I got an email from a friend at Virgin Atlantic saying she could get us cheaper flights, saving about £500 on the VH price.
Thing is, the booking has been made and if we cancel the VH booking we loose £240. We would still save £270 but I could just bang my head against the wall

and

I somehow had this weird feeling about it

Update:
After a phone call to VH, we were told that we could change our booking, this way we would not loose our deposit, we would just need to pay an amendment fee of £25pp. As we still needed to book some of our accomodation, we decided to book hotel only for part of our trip. We'll be staying at the Disney Yacht Club for our last 3 nights!
I've now rebooked the flights through our friend at VA. So it's all sorted! Happy ending after all!!!

Oh, what bad timing, sorry to hear that, but you're still saving a few hundred so don't beat yourself up too much. Wish I had a friend who works at Virgin !

Our flights were cheaper with VA too and we booked with VH, at least we did not have to pay all at once with VH though,. (Was a bit anoying when the flights went in the sale with VA though, did not cancel with VH as I had already almost paid for the flights and VH can take ages to give money back)

Agree with this advice, we paid more for our flights this year than we could probably get if we waited given our circumstances that was the right decision for us. There will always be better deals

How annoying!!!! At least you can still save quite a lot though.

To be honest unless you book the last minute I'm sure everyone who books a holiday in advance will find it cheaper at some point if they keep looking.

You pay in advance to get the holiday you want with flights that you want. To leave it and get a "better" price sometimes means compromising on your choices.

I booked for next year 17 months in advance as I knew exactly what I wanted. I know next month that free DDP will be out for all new bookings but i just accept that I have my first choices all booked and I got a free child place which had all gone the following day!

£200 is still a saving so if you could amend your booking go for it - that's a few extra dollers to spend when you're out there

Like other posters have said you have a wonderful holiday booked which is fantastic - enjoy the planning!
