Hi!

When we are at WDW, we are planning on going to TL on Monday 4/7. We are a family of 5-me, DH, and almost 8, 6 and 4 yo kids. I have several questions for TL veterans:

1. Please give me a DETAILED description of a good area to try to stake out at opening that will be near the kid's area with some shade, if possible.

2. Can the kids wear life vests on the big slides and raft slides?

3. What is the height MAX in the kid's area?

4. If opening is 10 am, bussing it from POR, what time should be try to catch a bus to be there prior to opening?

Thanks!

Patti

Hi Patti!

Your family is going to love TL! The children's area is for 4' tall and under, so it's possible that you might want to stake out an area near the wave pool rather than the kid's area. If you DO want to be right near the kid's area, there is a secluded spot (read: shaded) shortly before you reach Ketchakiddee Creek, off the path to the left.

The kids can wear life vests all over the park. TL will supply them for you (don't bring your own) free of charge.

Figure about 15-30 minutes to get from POR to TL using the bus system.

Enjoy!

Thank you for the information, I really appreciate it!

I'm glad to hear the kids can wear the lifevests on the big slides! We couldn't do this at the DLH over the summer, and it was frustrating for our middle son!

We are very excited. We loved RC in 2001 (right before it closed!!), and now that they are two years older, we are ready to "move up" anyway.

I don't know when Blizzard Beach is going to be reopend after its rehab period. try and get to there as close to openig of Typhoon Lagoon as possible!! I was just in TL this past Tuesday and it was CROWDED!!! all chairs were taken by11 am!! I heard or read some where that the buses start running to TL 1 hr prior to opening!!
TL has been crowded from what I had over heard becasue of it being the only water park open right now! If BB is openyet when you goto TL be prepared!

I think you have to give a refundable deposit for the vests. TL is a terrific park. We love it more than BB. The wave pool is awesome. If you decide to sit by the wave pool, find a seat where you are looking straight at the wave pool. There is an area on the side but you won't be able to see your family in the pool.

Whatever you do, get there early and run as fast as you can for a shady spot. There are precious few shade areas at Typhoon Lagoon and as soon as the park opens, a virtual mob of people rush to secure them.
On our first Typhoon Lagoon visit I took the "high road" and just let the mob surge ahead. What a jerk I was!! By the time we walked in, there wasn't an umbrella/shade area to be had. All gone in less than 1/2 hour.

It's not a cash deposit for the life vests. You have to leave an ID card like drivers license. We didn't bring one so we had to leave a WL room card . Luckily we both had ours so we still had one to use to charge. Unfortunately at the end of the day you also have to wait in line to return the vest and get your ID back.

I would tell one person to get in line for the vests and one person go get chairs and then meet up. Then go straight to the Shark reef before it's lines get too long.

I also would recommend buying the refillable cup from TL. It is just like the ones at the resorts. It works for that day. The cups have a bar code that you scan at the dispenser and then it gives you time to fill up. We shared one cup the whole day. Also, the hot deli sandwich is very good. Instead of regular salad they put the caesar salad from the chicken caesar on it. I guess if you don't like caesar salad though you wouldn't like it but I thought it was very good.

Some of the tubes for the tube rides and river tubes have bottoms in them so that you don't have to worry about the littler ones falling through. Our daughter who turned 4 during the trip did great on all of the tube rides and the body slides too. The only things she didn't do were those 3 speed slides and the wave pool. Have fun.

Thank you very much!!

We leave in two days and are thrilled to have more info! I didn't know TL had a refillable mug! That's great news!

Anything else!?!?!?
