We (me, DH, DD - 9 yo and DS - 4yo) are going to Disney in July...can't wait!

I have never been to Typhoon Lagoon. Where is the best place to "camp" for the day?:p

I don't think there is a bad area at TL. We always go to the right down by the water. Do you want shade, sun, close to kids area?

Be sure to get there early. That way, you will have lots of choices. We took 1 lounge chair for the whole family over by the big wave pool. It was in the shade for the whole time we were there. It was kinda back by the the tide pools. You couldn't see the main pool from the lounge chair. Very convenient for getting towels or sunscreen.

I would like to get some shade...an area where the kids can get out of the sun for a little while. I would like to be able to get 2 lounge chairs too.

Any suggestions? How early should we arrive?

There are many areas of shade. If you arrive when it opens you shouldn't have a problem finding a shady spot. Most people are looking for the full sun locations.

You may have to run to get your spot, so check the map out before the run begins. If you get there after the park has opened, don't show up until about 3PM or so. Then you will have a choice of spots again.

In July, the park fills up fast.

That was what I was afraid of. I will check out the maps ahead of time but don't know where a "good" spot is?

Thanks!

Were going in October and would also like to know the best places to put up camp!

We like to be in the sun :sunny:

I hope we get some in Oct:D

IT always seemed to us that there were few areas of shade.
The first time we went to TL, we watched as the mob broke and ran as soon as the rope dropped. We thought it was kind of funny actually--until (at our leisurely pace)we got into the park ourselves. We were VERY lucky to get a spot under an umbrella--we then knew why the stampede at opening!!

I'd follow Deb and Bills advice---.

I felt the same way-- on a hot sunny day, shade wasn't too commmon to find, other than on the paths and by the eateries. Anyhow, we parked ourselves on the little island near the wave pool. There is a large grouping of palm tree's and greenery there and it gave us a portion of shade for our group. There are some umbrella lounges, but you have to be there at opening to snag them. We got there 20 minutes after opening and those were all gone.

I saw a great shaded area there last week. Let me see if I can describe abut where it is. Over on the right hand side of the park, there is a restaurant, right near the shark tank. I can't remember the name, but it sells sandwiches (good hot dog!!!), and there is an attached place that sold ice cream. Next to the covered seating area, there was a cool, shaded area that looked like a nice spot. There will probably be some chairs there, but if there are not, you can move the chairs from other areas if no one is using them (don't steal someone's chair!!! :teeth: ).

If you can't get that specific area, there are some others kinda like it in the same general area.

Oh, just remembered, it's near the Humonga Kawabunga (sp?) and Storm Slides entrance.

Oh this is GREAT! I love landmarks to look for!

And...it sounds like it is close to FOOD! There is nothing better than filling the void made after a morning of swimming!! :hyper:

If you are looking at the map.

We go to the right, stay on the inside of the lazy river.

Following the path that goes under (tunnel) the mountain that the wave pool comes out of. Just before you go in the tunnel there are approx 3 or 4 small pavillions that have picnic tables and a variety of lounge/chairs. We always get the last one. We back up to lazy river just across from Shark Reef and we have shade and privacy. Few steps over to wave pool, through the tunnel to other side, over the bridge to shark reef/food/bathroom etc. Our table is covered should we get a rain shower.

Everyone who walks by comments how nice our spot is. We get it every year (when the park opens).
