RIP Hulu, 2008-2026.

Woah - lots of major moves with Disney's streaming offerings today! Is Hulu still going to be an add-on to Disney+ and just not offered on it's own anymore? Will Disney+ still be available without it? Sometimes I want to go ahead and add Hulu, but I don't like that you can't pay annually for the bundle.

I have the opposite questions as @BrianL . Hulu & Peacock are my main source of TV viewing. I have very little interest in Disney + since the majority of the content was Star Wars & Marvel. So now that Hulu is being Merged into Disney+, can I get just Hulu, just through the Disney+ app? Will I be "forced" into getting Disney+ ? How much more will my service cost me how?

Hulu and Disney+ will be combined into the Disney+ app, so the standalone Hulu app will be gone.

But can one still only subscribe to and get content from only one or the other through the Disney + app? Or, as I suspect, all Hulu only users will be “forced” to pay more for the Disney + content.

I guess it is possible that the prices won’t change drastically since they will no longer have to maintain the second platform.

Nevermind just saw this in the article @Nayan posted. Wasn’t on the one I read earlier.

The streaming app will be discontinued in 2026 alongside the launch of a new unified app. However, you'll still have the option to subscribe to only Hulu or Disney+ (and ESPN+).

So, if you subscribe only to Hulu, you would still download and launch the Disney+ App. Woudl the home page show only Hulu content, or would you have to go to the Hulu tab? Would there be certain free programs from D+ like they currently do for Hulu? I'm just curious - I'm not getting rid of my D+ anytime soon.

They are going to make a new app that will incorporate D+ and Hulu. As far as different tabs, home page or free stuff we'll have to wait until next year when it's released.

My guess is that those with only one or the other will still see the content but won't be able to view it. They want you to see what you are missing out on, to try to entice you to subscribe.

Right, but I don't current;y see Hulu stuff on my home page, but I can if I go to the Hulu tab. It also comes up when I search. They do allow certain things from Hulu (and ESPN+) to be watched, but they rotate what is available.

Similar on Hulu, there are limited Disney movies available. But within the Hulu app itself. I have no way of seeing any Disney + content, which I expect to change. Of course this is all speculation. We will have to wait until something in 2026 to know for sure.

I expect them to fully integrate the two under Disney + in the future. If you subscribe, you are subscribing to both.
