I thought I read somewhere that it was possible to get an hour private surf/wave pool action at tl before or after park opening or closing - does anyone know and if so the cost???

I called last week to see about booking this for my husband for our September vacation. Here's the info:

The surfing lessons are held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at Typhoon Lagoon and begin at 6:45am. Surfers get 30 minutes of "land instruction" and then 2 hours in the water. The cost is $150. You must provide your own transportation (due to the early hour) and they will provide the equipment.

Your family/friends can come along, too, for moral support ;) You don't have to have a ticket to the WP, unless you plan on staying after the lesson is over, when the park opens.

I called 407.939.7873 -- like the dining, you have to be 90 days out from your trip to make a reservation.

Hope this helps!

ummm dd is a surfer (she surfs all the time) I wonder if they have
a time where they do "fun" surfing without instruction ??

The morning Surf Lessons actually start three hours prior to Park opening, and you have to be there 15 minutes ahead. Next week we move opening to 9:00 (from 10:00) and so people for surf lessons will have to be there at 5:45.

There are also evening Surf Parties most days. They will preform a group. You have to provide your own board. The price depends on both the number of people in the group and the number of waves ordered. The party cost could run from about $1,000 to about $2,500 in total. If tehre are only five people it could get very expensive, if there are 20 (which I think is maximum) it would be much lower per person.

For both call 407-WDW-SURF for more information and reservations.

I'm so excited about this. We are surprising the kids with surf lessons while we are there in July.

I did this and loved eventhough I'm no spring chicken. I did manage to ride a wave, granted I was ride a coffee table size surf board.
***INSIDER INFO***
After the land instructions, the instructor asked who wants to go first, of course none of the kids wanted to so I jumped in. The bonus part of this is, since I volunteered to go first, I got an extra wave to ride at the end. So speak up and go first!:thumbsup2

Have fun and "Hang Ten Dude!"

My son did this last year and absolutely loved it. I thought the instruction was great and they got a lot of water time.

My DD did this last year and loved it! The instructors are great and the class is a lot of fun! They have photopass photographers there taking tons of pics too!
