We have decided to do one day at a water park in June. Either Typhoon Lagoon or Volcano Bay. Been to TL but never been to VB. Which would you choose and why? We will be on Disney property if that is a factor. I would really need to research VB for the next couple months, but that is not a problem.

We love TL, but I am leaning toward trying something new this time.

Volcano Bay is more expensive ($80/adult) than Typhoon Lagoon ($65/adult). I've also heard that TL has better decor and is better immersive wise than VB. I haven't been to VB yet and haven't been to TL in over a decade so I'm not the best account.

Volcano Bay is very immersive. The issue will be whether VB has gotten down the virtual line system better once the water park season kicks in. June will be packed which means you might spend all day in the wave pool waiting to ride 3 rides.

We were just at Volcano Bay right before Christmas. We loved it. Having said that, we also stayed onsite at Universal before hopping over to Disney. It's obviously easier to go to park where you are staying. We love TL but if you've been there before and can easily get to VB, maybe give that a try. The day we went it was not super crowded so we were able to ride most of the big rides. The water coaster is really fun and my husband and son loved the drop slide on the volcano itself. We also splurged and rented a cabana for the day and that was fun. A great way to reserve your rides without having to go to each one to check and see the wait and it was great to have a place to touch down for the day and leave your stuff.

We would be going during the first week in June, maybe on a Thursday. You guys have got me on the fence now on which to choose.

TL is our absolute favorite! The surf pool is our families favorite activity, we can spent hours in there.

I have not been to VB yet and do not plan on going.

TL will be cheaper with ticket cost, free transportation. And I am very familiar with TL. Maybe I'll just stick with what I know.

I've only been to TL, BB, and VB one time each, but for us VB was by far the best of the 3 by a long shot. We were at VB at the end of August on a weekday, so crowds were not terribly high. We also had a cabana in the middle of the park which allowed us to tap in and select rides from there which most certainly added to our enjoyment at the park. But as far as the rides themselves, there were so many more rides that we could enjoy as a group at VB than there were at TL or BB. There were also more thrill rides at VB that my teens really enjoyed. And it was nice to have both a lazy river and a not-so-lazy river, we enjoyed the not-so-lazy river much more. And the mountain in the middle of the park was really fun to walk through and explore and talk to the thing in the middle (I have no idea what to call it). So if everything else was equal, I'd recommend VB without question. However cheaper tickets and free transportation are a big draw to TL, and the wave pool at TL is far better than you'll find anywhere else, and I know there are many accounts of people not being able to ride much at VB, so I get the dilemma. If you do go, absolutely get there first thing in the morning, and leave yourself enough time to get from the parking garage (or taxi dropoff) to the entrance to VB, you have to take a bus to get there. Both parks are great so I'm sure you'll have fun whichever one you decide on!

We've done BB, TL and VB. While we had a great time at all 3 water parks, the 5 of us all agreed VB was our favorite

I've done both TL and VB and I love them both in different ways.

- The wave pool at TL wins hands down. I found the waves at VB to be very lackluster...and the wave pool was freezing!!!
- The rides / slides are really great at both but I think there were more group rides at VB. I really loved the 4 & 6ft drop slides at VB. I went on them several times. The raft rides are good but obviously more family friendly. I prefer the water coaster at TL (probably because our raft at VB got stuck and we had to exit the raft and climb over a wall to get off the ride). They did let us ride twice after that though.
- VB gets busy insanely fast. We went during the early park hour (stayed at Hard Rock) and it was crazy busy an hour after official opening. One of the CM's told me that they had been dealing with full capacity an hour after opening most days (that was last September). We left by 10:30am because the lines were getting too long.
- The not so lazy river at VB is hands down my favorite lazy river ever! I get very bored in lazy rivers but this one was really fun. I went around a lot!
- TL is better themed IMO and less busy in the morning.

So, if you've been to TL, I'd consider trying something new. You might just love it. I'd would say go on a weekday and be there as soon as the park opens.

Oh, I forgot one thing. VB has three insanely high body slides up in the mountain. I did one (with my knees quaking the entire time)...but the stairs to get up were freaking brutal. I felt like I was climbing forever! I may or may not have stopped to breath (and rest my poor legs) like 5 times.
