typhoon lagoon or blizzard beach for arriving in afternoon

Hi everyone,

we will be arriving on Sunday, Aug 16 and was thinking of going to a waterpark after lunch for a few hours. Which one would you recommend in terms of crowd level and potential to find any chairs with shaded spots when you arrive later in the day. we have 2 kids, 7 and 4,and will have the water park + option so we will go back at least 2 more times during our trip where we will most likely go at rope drop. Just curious to see your opinion on this. Thanks in advance

Hmmm.... not sure which is better at that point in the day for shade or crowds. If you wanted guaranteed shade, you could book one of the umbrellas. (I wouldn't, but that might be the only way you can find shade on a weekend day in August with a mid-day arrival.)

What if you just popped over to one for the final 2 hours and just did the attractions/stayed in the water without worrying about relaxing in the shade?

I don't think either water park would have an advantage. But if it comes down to just picking a park for fun, my daughter prefers Blizzard Beach.

Tl for smaller kids, bb for older kids. Right now, both parks are packed by noon. Not many chairs available until after two o clock. If you are booking an umbrella, you should do this in advance. A lady in front of us wanted one on Tuesday at tl and they were already sold out at 9:15. Park opened at 9.

If hot sunny day both will be packed with resort guests and local folks.Follow advise of other posters they're giving you good information.

It sounds like with either park it will be crowded when I arrive. I think I like the idea of just going to the slides/pools when we get there and not worry about getting a chair, much less a shaded chair. Then when folks starts to leave later in the afternoon, we may have a better chance of finding a shaded chair. And I am leaning going to Typhoon Lagoon since we have younger kids. Thanks for all your help!
