Typhoon Lagoon, how many hours needed?

We went on a weekday in July, so our experience is likely a little different crowd-wise. We walked in at park opening, and really felt like we had the place to ourselves for about an hour. In that time, we were able to pick off 2 tube slides and all 3 body slides without any waiting. It didn't start to feel crowded until after lunch. We were able to do everything in the park (minus the Crush N Gusher slides - height problems for my munchkins) before stopping for lunch about 12:30. We did some repeats from 1-2 and then headed out.

Given the time of year you're visiting, I would imagine that an arrival at the park closer to opening time would have you on your way either just before or just after lunch, giving you 2-3 hours to relax before heading over for MNSSHP. 4 hours should be plenty of time for Typhoon in your situation.

This is what I enjoy reading! We are planning our first every July in WDW this year. Since our tickets include unlimited waterparks, our plan right now is to get in at least 3-4 waterpark visits during our trip. I think we will follow a similar plan and try to hit the waterparks at opening, ride as much as we can (we have 3 kid thrill seekers) and then head back to our room for a late lunch or early dinner. All of our actual park rides have been scheduled for dinnertime or later. Hoping that works well for us.

I had no problems doing both. Last year was my first experience with a water park as well. I got to Typhoon Lagoon right at opening and after doing everything I wanted to do (which was everything except the kiddie area and the really big water slide), left about 12:30. I headed back to my room at Boardwalk, showered, ate lunch, and was on a bus for a park by 2pm. I spent the rest of the day at MK until close.

Edit: I should also mention that I was solo on that trip...no kids or anyone to keep track of.

I am going with my hubby and my 16 year old daughter. I feel like they would be up for it. They both don't like the thrill rides so at least takes a few attractions of the list. Maybe we will just do 3 hours and take a nap for 1 hour. Lol.

Personally, I prefer TL over BB because I like the tropical feel and also the wave pool. BB is better for slides but TL has the better wave pool. TL also has shark reef.

We are looking to do a late August, late arrival at TL after doing an EMH at one of the parks. What is the average afternoon traveling times on board Disney busing from EP area to TL? (I know it can very greatly!)

I went at opening stayed till 3 then grabbed a bite and went to magic kingdom that night.

LOW LOW crowds I did everything once and then some. I also then fell asleep in the lazy river until the waterfall came!

Just back tonight. We did TL on Saturday. Park opening to closing 10am-5pm. Loved every minute! Two kids ages 7&9 and me and DH and my parents. We did all the rides, ate lunch in our cabana (highly recommend if you are there all day as it provides a resting spot, shade, locker chairs, etc. ). My kids would not be willing to leave at 1-2pm! It's a great break after several days in main parks for us.

The transportation is a bit of a mess now due to construction, so factor that into your timing. We stayed at AKL, so direct bus to TL in the morning. If you leave after 2pm, all guests can ONLY bus to EPCOT, and then transfer to,Your resort bus from there. We got right on both buses, and it still took greater than an hour. Not fun when you are water logged and tired. We ate at our room ( had kitchen in villa) and chilled. No way could we have gone to a park after that!!!

Does anyone happen to know how long the buses will be this way, where after 2pm you have to transfer at Epcot? Our trip is in September.

I love water parks and Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite. My advice is to leave time to clean yourself up after a few hours of water parking. We had a dinner reservation right after and had planned to go straight, but didn't take into consideration the horrific state we would be in with all the sweat, sunblock, bad hair et cetera. We ended up having to go back to the room to make ourselves presentable.
