Typhoon Lagoon Cabana worth it?

we will be at Typhoon Lagoon on October 3rd. I just reserved a cabana (Beach Comber Shack or something like that) for $246. Any options from those who have rented one? Is it worth the $$ or should I downgrade to an umbrella and save the $198? A couple of other factors:we will buy 3 refillable mugs (husband and girls always have to have them) and I rent a locker. Thanks!

Do you plan to rest at TL or go from slide to slide? If you aren't planning on sitting out, there isn't much need for a cabana.

I don't do water rides. My husband and kids do. I realize there are free shady spots. Just looking for opinions from those who have rented one.

If you get to the park early, there are plenty of shady spots available without paying extra. I wouldn't waste the money on either.

Thanks, but I don't see it as a waste to have a reserved spot. It's peace of mind for me as I don't do water rides. I looking for opinions from those who have rented one if they felt it was worth the extra money over an umbrella.

I rented one last year for my group of 6. We loved it. It was worth it for us. So nice to have a covered home base, and we put our phones etc in the safe. We enjoyed having a server to bring us drinks and lunch. Is it necessary in order to enjoy the day? Not at all. But it's a fun splurge.

We've rented one before as well. We felt it was completely worth it, but our little ones weren't really old enough to go off on their own at the time. They could go splash in the very shallow end of the wave pool and we could see them from our cabana. The amenities are very nice though. If you can afford it, do it.

We rented one our first trip and while it was nice, it is DEFINITELY NOT needed. There are PLENTY of covered/shaded areas that you can leave your stuff at. I would maybe consider doing one again if we went in the middle of summer on a weekend othereise no need.

Thanks all. I know there probably isn't a "need" but I'm going to rent one or the other. I think I'll stick with the Beach Comber Shack since I got in on the lower seasonal rate. Thanks again!

We have rented one several times. We love it! I like having a place to sit, read a book, ride a slide, come back. I like having the locker right there. I like having a cooler for the waters, towels, refillable mugs. We use our Disney Rewards.

We rented one and had 4 adults. It was great. If we went back with our kids we would try and rent one again. Expensive? Yes, but worth the splurge if you plan to stay all day there.

We did the reserved umbrella with chairs and loved it. It's in a private roped off area. It was all we really needed. Have fun! I say save the money and put it towards something else there!

Is it really $200-$250 to get something you can get for free all day long? I never looked into the pricing because I never had interest in it. I figured it may be $50-$75, but I had no clue it was THAT much. Wow.

anyone have pics of the cabana? vs just the table and chairs?

It was actually over $300 when we rented ours...yes we felt like a total waste of money, but lesson learned.

If I recall correctly it includes towels, lunch, refillable mugs, bottle water, and an attendant to bring you lunch and drinks and such. If you have 6 people and were planning to buy lunch and drinks anyway that would make it less but we looked into it once and thought the same thing as you. It just seemed like a ridiculous amount of money for something you could get for free anyway.

I have not rented a cabana, but have rented the spot with the 2 beach chairs and umbrella, in October of 2014. Our previous trip to TL was in August of 2012, and there was no seating to be had anywhere, but it turns out that in October we could have had our choice of seats, so it felt like a waste of $50. The lines weren't long at the quick service, so I wouldn't see any advantage of having waitstaff, plus I assume you would have to tip. I think the only advantage of the cabana would be the locker being right there by your seats, but if you plan to mostly hang out at your chair, as you say, I don't see much advantage there either. If you are set on a reserved area I think the lounge chair/umbrella package would suit you just fine.

Yes, it is a lot of money. However, we believe it's worth it. The "value" of something is subjective.

I did the umbrella rental a few years ago. It was just 2 of us so it worked ok. You get 2 lounges & 2 upright sand chairs with a teeny table under the umbrella. We had to maneuver the chairs around to "follow" the shade. We were in the wave pool & lazy river most of the day. The table was really too small to eat from, we ate near the place we bought our lunch at.

We did get towels & a locker included. It was ok for 2 of us but there really isn't a lot of room under that umbrella. It might work for a family if you don't mind being a little crowded, having to move chairs around as the day goes on & only 1 or 2 will be there at a time. If we went back with our family, I would pick the cabanas over the umbrella anytime.
