A couple of questions for you!
Where's the best place to sit for a family with older children (who will want to do the slides) and their parents and grandparents (who may not!)?
And what's the best time to arrive (if you can't be there for park opening)?

If you cannot be there at park opening, I would recommend getting there around 2:30 so in the afternoon. At that time, many of the people who have been there since opening will be leaving and the lines get shorter. In summer of 2000 (not sure about since then) the water parks were open until 8 p.m. and we would go around 4:30 and it would be emptying out - that was great. Now I think they are only open until 6.

I like the seats at BB near the Downhill Double Dipper - it is less crowded over there.

I agree with JLS, arrive about 4-5 hours (no more than 5, four is preferable) before closing. As to where to sit, options will be limited because most of the areas will still be full of belongings when you arrive, so you will have to take what is available. As the park clears out more seating options will open up, so just move your stuff. Also, if/when it rains, seek shelter and stay put. Most of the time the storm will pass quickly and you will have the park to yourself :)
