we have never done the water parks. It is usually too cold when we go but this year we are going n April and thought it would be fun to try a water park.
We have a 7 year old great swimmer and a 5 YO who swims well too. Do you actually swim with the fish or are you over them with glass between you and them? Can my kids do this?

Nope you can really swim with the fish at TL, sharks and rays to be exact! The water in this snorkle pool is usually very cold, even in the summer, but it is still a fun thing to do. It's only one pool and you float directly across to the other side.

I think a 7 and 5 yr old, if decent swimmers, could do this, but the fact that there are REAL "I'm not kidding" sharks in the tank, they may get freaked out by this.

You could take them over to the area and show them and if they want to try it, do it. It is a snorkling expericence, so that may be kind of fun for them to try.

Hope that helps.

You swim across a smal pool full of fish. You are asked not to touch them and the water is very cold. Kids that are not afraid to put a snorkel and mask on and can really swim should not be afraid. I think we had to put on a shirt type wet suit too. Like I said though the pool water is cold and with the extra apprehension that a new experience brings it might be hard for the five year old.

Thanks so much! I think this may be a must do! I'm not really worried about cold water. They will swim in any water! It sounds like a lot of fun!

My 6year old DS loved it . He Did it 3 time last June. I think the water is to cold. But I go anyway like a good dad should:smooth:

You also have to keep splashing down to a minimum. Not a lot of kicking.

My oldest DD (6) was sure she wanted to do this so we suited up, put on our snorkels and masks, hopped in the pool and were ready to go when she decided she didn't want to. Not a problem as we plan many more vists in the future but I saw some parents almost forcing their child (about 8 years old??). Just play it by ear and see how your children react. Even if they decide not to swim with the fish there is a great sunken ship (underwater viewing tank) part of the exhibit and they can go down and see the fish.

The key they stressed was to "float on your stomach" to the other side. They don't want you kicking or bobing up and down.

One other issue is the water is very salty. My DS was 9 and a good swimmer but he did have some problems with the snorkel and salt water. We went across twice and he had enough salt water after that.

If you get a change, let the kids practice with a snorkel and mask before you go. I think that would really help.
