Even if he has come out and said- Oops, I made a mistake--so sorry. That isnt good enough in my eyes. I know I sound so harsh I just dont understand how anyone can be so stupid. He obviously has the means to have taken other transportation. Poor judgment on his part, or anyone else who drinks then drives. I have a really low tolerance for this kind of stuff.

The size of a glass of wine they give you out at restaurants is about 3 times the size of what we should drink. He's a celeb so it's in the news...

I can honestly say this is never a problem for me I have never acquired the taste for alcohol.

Seriously - yes he should have known better - many of us should have in the past. He owned up to it, respect the man for that! Respect him for not playing the celeb card.

I am not condoning what he did but where was he pulled over? Was there paparazzi sitting outside where he was? Were there police there? Did he get in the car and someone follow him? Is he being made an example as to not be Paris? Sometimes people "sit" on certain people just to get them in the news.

People make mistakes. I know I have made plenty and I'm sure you have also. I'm glad though that the people I love and the people that I care about belive in forgiveness.

You're 200% correct - however most on this board make absolutely NO mistakes and are absolutely perfect in everything they do, so you won't see many admitting to having wine with dinner then driving home. I have in the past.

I make many mistakes in other areas but can honestly say I have NEVER EVER had one single drink - and then driven a car.

I do not drink ANY quantity of alcohol and then drive. I wish more people would do that same- it's all to easy to not know your own limitations and not realize how drunk you are - until you get caught and somebody tells you how drunk you are.

You don't have to be fall down stupid drunk to be impaired - which is why I personally believe is why we have so many drunk drivers. I believe that most people honestly just have no clue that they're not ok to drive.

Very well said. The drunk driver that hit us was sorry too. So what? My spouse has a permanent disability, so my sense of forgiveness on drinking and driving is very, very low if not absent.

This is SIMPLE...NEVER EVER DRIVE DRUNK!!!

There were 16,694 alcohol-related fatalities in 2004 – 39 percent of the total traffic fatalities for the year.

All those Drunk drivers were "Sorry" too! Some were even 'cute" and did nice things for nice deserving people!

EVERY DAY 46 People are killed in the US by 'NICE' Drunk drivers who were SORRY afterward!

I do have a drink once in a while when out to dinner. I do not drive after that. When I was 21, I did it. I'm grown up and I know the consequences of drinking and driving-all of them. I don't do it and I have less respect for anyone who does. When my girlfriends and I go out, one of us is designated OR our husbands take turns dropping off and picking up. We REALLY are serious about responsible behavior. It's not that difficult. I don't mean to be "perfect" but in this issue, I think perfection should be the goal. I LOVE Ty! He's adorable and fun and genuine. He goofed but I really will look at him a little differently from now on because this is a BIG issue for me and should be for everyone. "Thinking we are ok" is just NOT good enough. Get a driver or don't drink, alcohol is not that important. If it IS to you, consider recovery.

I wonder if he's developing a drinking problem... I've noticed that his face looks alot "rougher" lately than it has in past seasons. Before his DUI, I mentioned to my wife (more than once) that he looks like a hard drinker. Either he has to put down the bottle or he needs to get a little SPF 80 working on that mug of his...and fire his makeup person.

I do find it interesting though, how it's always a wake up call after they are caught. Would it have been a wake up call if he had been in an accident and someone's child was killed? I like Ty, but I hope he doesn't get away with this, just because he's sorry and had a wake up call. This isn't poor just a little thing of poor judgement. If you have ever seen an entire family fall apart after a child is loss because some drunk hit their car, you realize that this is premeditated murder. The drunk decided to drink and drive. Ty was lucky..it wasn't just a wake up call, he was lucky no one was injured. Shame on him..and I hope he pays more than the money he can afford for this. He has a lot of people who look up to him..and because of that, the punishment should be as harsh as it would be for someone without money or fame.

Hopefully it is a REAL wake up call.
He should do public service announcements not to drink and drive.

Ok, I'll play with this one.

Honestly, if I had to build a new mansion every seven days I'd look pretty rough and probably drink some, too!

Getting behind the wheel was a mistake, but he is a human being and will occasion to make one. As long as he pays his penance like any other driver then it will be fair for his indescretion. He should never have done it, agreed though.

Drinking and driving is unsafe; most people would agree with that. But I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt that he won't do it again. If this incident means even just one person will avoid doing it, then it will be a good lesson learned because no one got hurt this time. Who knows, maybe he'll even do some PSA's to remind people not to make that same mistake.

A second time would be a different story.

This was my thought. He obviously is not medicated in any other way. He makes his money flaunting his ADD. He probably can not sleep. Public service announcements would be an excellent starting place for him.

While I'm happy that he is taking responsibilty for his actions (assuming he actually means it) Drinking and Driving is not something I will ever be able to forgive. I have lost too many people I love and care about to be forgiving.

It is not that hard to make arrangements for a ride ahead of time before you have a drink. With Stars I would think it would be even easier. If you can't make those arrangements then don't drink. There is NO EXCUSE for drunk driving.

While I have made many mistakes in life I have never intentionally done something that has the potential to kill someone.

Everybody has heard about the misfortune Ty ran into last saturday morning, and since then several fans have expressed worry about him and his position as show host on Extreme Makeover Home Edition. Some people are worried that ABC might fire him over this. We as Ty fans can't let that happen. I have started a petition for ABC against firing Ty from the show.



Despite his actions, he is still considered by many to be a True American Hero, and its going to take a lot more than a DUI to change that.
