Two Words....Yet another UPDATE!!!

Oh Kevin,

I feel your pain! Had I been there, I would have gone carnival ape crazy with you! My few, choice words would have not been shareable with the DIS family - I'm a redhead, what can I say? :rotfl2: :scared1:

What part of "No, you are NOT using power tools on my wall and make it fit is not an option" do they not understand?

Don't settle - you won't be happy! Good food comes from happy kitchens! :cool1: Hugs! I'll come and make y'all dinner the next time I'm in town! LOL! :rotfl: Stop laughing - I"m a very good cook! ::yes::

This is why I told DH that I'll hold out until the range stops working before we touch the kitchen in our house! He pities the crew that shows up to work on it - I'm taking leave during the entire project. LOLOLOL! :stir:

I'm not mean or cruel - I just know what I want! :goodvibes

Where do you and Pete find these guys... are all the contractors in central florida useless or do you guys just have bad luck? Don't they know youa re JOHN and KEVIN.. thee John and Kevin who have an army of carzy fans ready to attack if they upset you. Show them us... then they will be scared and do it right or we will all beat them up for you :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

You could lock them in Mindy's Cistern :stir: or send WO after them :moped: .. that should scare them enough to do it right

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Kevin went carnival ape crazy on the granite guys, yet again. (it's to the point where I'm talking about myself in the third person)

I love when Kevin, talks about Kevin, in the third person. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Seriously though, that STINKS that those guys can't get it right!:furious:

Hopefully it gets squared away sooner rather then later. :goodvibes

I love when Kevin breaks out the big font!

Congrats!

I was thinking the same thing Kathy!

Kitchen Remodel Update
The granite is 90% done.

There is one piece that seems to have been mis-measured. It is the piece that goes behind the sink.

I think they understood when I told them that I didnt give a (delete delete delete) what they had to do. THEY WERE NOT CUTTTING THE WALL.

The granite guys are coming back tomorrow.....maybe.

Did you inform the guys that you are very popular and have a HUGE fanclub ( :rotfl2: of at least two :duck: ) and if they mess up your show they may be two extra fingers to count with?! ;) The world needs you!! :worship: :worship: :worship:

Kitchen Remodel Update
The granite is 90% done.

There is one piece that seems to have been mis-measured. It is the piece that goes behind the sink.

Above our sink is a pass through to the dining room. There is a counter on this pass through that is going to be the same granite as the counter tops.

The piece behind the sink is supposed to meet the pass through counter and currently it does not. There is a 1/2 to 1/4 inch gap.

Their solution was to cut down part of the wall in order to cover their mis-measurement. I was told that they can "spackle and stucco and then place a piece of baseboard molding to cover where they cut the wall."

We dont want spackle, stucco or baseboard molding on the wall in the dining room...so.....

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Kevin went carnival ape crazy on the granite guys, yet again. (it's to the point where I'm talking about myself in the third person)

I explained that I would not accept this soultion to THEIR mis-measuring. It was explained to me that this meant that they had to cut another piece.

I think they understood when I told them that I didnt give a (delete delete delete) what they had to do. THEY WERE NOT CUTTTING THE WALL.

The granite guys are coming back tomorrow.....maybe.

OMG Kevin, I will continue to pray for you......:goodvibes

As the owner of a countertop fabrication business myself, I cringed reading John's blog. There is nothing worse than having something break at a customer's home. Oh wait yes there is, trying to pass off the same broken top as new. Shame on them!!!

You guys know I'm from Jersey. So, if I can, say, help to motivate your granite guys, please let me know. I have friends and relatives....you know what I mean.....:rotfl2:

We hired a local company to remodel our kitchen. They are a reputable local company and have been in business for 25 years.

They have worked for us before and we're always happy with the outcome.

The granite guys are sub-contractors.

One of the guys from the original business shows up this morning nd the conversation goes like this....

Him - "I'm here to do some finish work today."
Me - "Well, the granite guys are supposed to be here with the piece they re-cut."
Him - "Yeah....about that.....they're not coming."
Me - "THEY"RE NOT COMING????"
Him - "Yeah. When I got to work this morning, the new piece was leaning against the front door. It had a note that said they were'nt coming back."
Me - "Do you think we scared them?"
Him - "Maybe a little. They hate to re-cut."

Apparently, John and I scared the big, tough, granite contractors.

I have a hard time with someone not finishing a job because they were asked to do it correctly and offer the finished product that we are paying for.:furious:

WOW.. If I ws the orignal contractor I would be finding another sub contractor.. I cannot belive they just decided not to come back.. HOW RUDE!!

It had a note that said they were'nt coming back."

Not Acceptable!

Not all jobs go well. They need to admit they screwed up, apologize, and make it right with you.

We have done jobs that went bad, and still had the respect of our customers when we were finished.

Kevin this is just nuts. If you can accept the mess up than they need to deeply discount their sub par work or they need to find someone else to finish the job. My husband was a contractor for 12 years before he went back to school. He said dont accept it or get a huge discount. How crazy are those people. We are not coming back because we dont like to recut.

Let me see if I did my job that way. Sorry sir you dont get your medication a second time because I dont like to remedicate due to throw up. Get for real. Good luck. That just sucks.

What now Kevin...is there another subcontractor that will come in and complete the job? Are plywood countertops sounding pretty good right now? Seriously, I hope this gets resolved for John and you soon. ::yes::

Isn't the idea of premeasuring so that when they show up with the cut piece it fits?

I can't believe that the contractor doesn't make them come back and finish. How embarrassing for them to have to come and say he isn't coming back. Hopefully everything works out soon.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

MY DH and I remodeled our kitchen ourselves ( DH is in construction )... I feel every pain you're going through. Your only salvation is you have someone else to blame... I used to "beg" to work overtime - sometimes going home was scary...:scared1:

Wow, those sub-contractors sound like complete idiots. I suppose at least you've already paid them, in the means that you gave them your 2 cents (of opinion) :duck:

This whole thing sounds exactly like my friends business. Are you sure you aren't really here on the South Shore?

They had a similar problem with their subcontractor. They didn't get rid of the subcontractor because of the miscuts, but because they swore (while working on remeasuring) in front of a child. It wasn't that bad of a word. But our friends don't tolerate it because they are a family business. :lmao: :lmao:
