Two Weeks until Two Weeks! - Update 3/22 - NEW TR LINK!

Hi Brook! I have been MIA due to some crazy work stuff (our building is closing after 30 years :sad1:) but I remembered you were going in March so I had to find your latest TR! :thumbsup2

3 day dance - yahoo!! I read the pages last night and I can't wait to hear about this trip! I love that you have some plans but for the most part you're going with the flow - good for you guys! :thumbsup2

I do indeed remember the "ghetto gas" story and I sure hope it's not repeated and I'm very eager to hear about KSC again. We planned a June trip before I found out the work stuff last month so for now, it's still on but I'm not 100% yet. I'll likely be able to stay with my company virtually but I'm not positive yet - anyhoo - we have seriously considered adding KSC to our trip but don't know if we're flying or driving down there (a first!).

All the best to you guys and I'll be looking forward to your Facebook updates!!

Ps. I absolutely LOVED the Valentines picture of Henry you posted! It has a great angle to it and looks vintage - so cool! :lovestruc

Heather

Tappan Edo, love it! We ate there for the first time in August and really enjoyed ourselves. There was a family from Quebec at our table, the kids only spoke French but it was fun to try to talk with them. :goodvibes
You are soooo close!!! I love your list of things to do. I have to say I am jealous that you will be getting a pedicure... that means that your feet won't be all bundled up in cold weather shoes! :woohoo: We got iced in last night with some snow but it's melting now.
Do you think you might try a Kim Possible adventure? They were fun... I think Henry might like it with your help. It's fun to see different things that move and interact with the communicator. Germany was especially fun! :thumbsup2

I've read so many great things about Teppan Edo, I'm so looking forward to it!!!

I ended up doing a home pedi, and it felt so weird to be painting my toenails! It's been waaaaaaay too long. I got new shoes and they came in the mail today and have a half open-toe (I'll post a pic), and it feels great!!! :cloud9:

I do think we will try a Kim Possible Mission. If anything, I know Henry will just enjoy holding the phone and watching the little actions that happen. I'll probably tell him that we need to "save the world!" and get all spy-like with it, so he gets more into it too. :goodvibes

4 days!!!!! Oh how I wish I was coming with you!!!!

3 days now! :woohoo: We have a really big suitcase, I think a couple of you guys might fit...;)

Brook, I am so excited for your trip. I can't believe you guys leave in 4 days. Can I ask you to pick up something for me? I really want a couple of boxes of the coconut mickey heads. I looked everywhere for them and couldn't find them. I didn't make it to Goofy's so I didn't check there but I looked on Main St (the Emporium and the Confectionery store), the Poly, Grand Floridian, WoD, and Pop and couldn't find them. I only ever found the 2 pack ($1.50 or 1 snack credit). I loved them I did come home with some but would love 2 boxes.

Yes! I can do that! I know they used to be at the Poly, what a shame they aren't anymore! I'll PM ya with some info and all that. :thumbsup2

Downtown Disney has so many great stores! I bet Henry will have fun picking out all his souvenirs. I'm looking forward to getting a box full Mr. Potato Head stuff, as soon as the boys get old enough not to eat them. :rotfl:

Henry wants EVERYTHING. It's so hard to tell him no too! Enjoy the time, while you have it, where your boys aren't so expensive!

:goodvibes

When I booked the room, I couldn't resist a new ticker but in reality, the trip may or may not actually happen. BUT I have been telling Greg I want to turn 40 with the MK and when I got a nice PIN code, I decided to lock in the rate while I could. The boys and I are talking a lot about when...er...IF we go. Just gotta convince Daddy that it's OK for us to take time off from school :rolleyes1

Santa puts an ornament in our stockings each year and the boys get excited to see what the choice will be! It's a tradition passed down from my family and they love to see my ornaments when we decorate the tree and look for the year on each to figure out how old I was when I got them

That is awesome that you can do this with DVC!! I'd be tempted sometime to do the super deluxe (what is it called :confused3) for just 1 or 2 nights to take advantage of all the recreation and tour choices (not to mention kids clubs!)

Ooooh, he just has to agree!!!!!!! I really, really hope your ticker STICKS! :wizard:

That is such a cute idea about the ornaments! Love that! I am thinkin' we might A) need a tree that is actually taller than Henry, and B) start an ornament tradition!

It is an AWESOME perk with DVC, unfortunately, they don't allow us to get the "super deluxe" (Platinum or Premium ) at all in the DVC rooms. So that kinda stinks! I've been tossing around the idea of us doing a value or mod and tacking on the plan at some point for the tours and recreation though. I do believe MEK IS doing that on an upcoming trip!

Only spotted your PTR now... Wishing you a safe and enjoyable trip! :)

Now for comments in DHS I always go to Little mermaid love it! American Idol is good but I think it's something that unless you're really into the show you only need to do it once. We ate in Sci Fi there which was pretty cool but bring a jumper lol was freezing inside!

Do character trails asap in Animal Kingdom.. I went to Camp Minnie Mickey at about 10 ish and it took til at least 12 to get the five main characters out. Lines were really long! There are other characters around there with shorter lines though.

Your food pics from Epcot look yummy! In Epcot in September I went in at about 6 one evening and managed to meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger in England and then The fab 5 in the space of an hour so maybe if you leave the meet and greet til later in the day there will be less people there!

have a great trip.. I'm only slightly alot jealous that you'll be in disney in 4 days :)

:welcome: Thanks for joining us!!!

I'd heard so many great things about the Little Mermaid, I'm really looking forward to seeing it finally. We have always meant to, but it just never worked with our plans for one reason or another. This time, no excuses!

Wow, 2 hours for the characters?! CraZy! I don't know if I would ever wait that long unless it was Henry's #1 thing and we didn't have a character meal booked. I've heard the Princesses and Fairies can get that long too.

I truly cannot believe our trip is upon us! The time has FLOWN by!!! I'm so, so excited and very ready for warm weather and Mickey! :teeth:

I love that you can add different DP's on different days now. We are going to do that in May. It makes so much sense.

Chef Mickey's is going to be so much fun.

The POR parade sounds so great. What a perfect idea for Mardi Gras!

Yeah for packing. I actually can't wait to start packing - its a sickness, I know! :rotfl:

It really is an awesome perk! I am thinking I might add a QSDP to the first or second night too so we can get mugs right away. Not sure yet though, gotta look into that.

Tonight I put all of Henry's stuff in the Big Bessie Suitcase! :dance3: It's hard to pack for Feb/March because we need a little of EVERYTHING versus shorts and tanks in September. Good thing we get 1 bag free for each person!

wow i agree i dislike the wettness but i love splash to much to not ride it. i might try the poncho methed. I love TOT it is a ride i will never forget. i like it when people freak out on the way up!! lol:rotfl::scared1: but i must admitt i tend to have the death grip on the handles.:lmao:;)

You would have LOVED my first ride on ToT! I completely freaked! :lmao: Joe still teases me about it to this day. I just expected a typical ride, you go up, you shoot straight down - not all the added stuff! Since then, I have learned - this is DISNEY, nothing is basic or typical!

I am going to try (again) to not hold onto the handles. We shall see if I can do it.

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

For 4 days !!!!!!!!

 3 now!!!

Yippee for 4 days!!!!!

:dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3:

I'm sure there's quite a few of us who are trying to figure out how to stuff ourselves into your suitcases, especially with the recent snowstorms!

I've never been at Chef Mickey's or Teppan Edo so can't give you any advice! BUT they are both on our list for our September trip since I've heard such great things about them here on DIS & from other people as well!!! I was just researching restaurants for our trip & was looking at the menus...YUM!!! :goodvibes

The Mardi Gras parade sounds really neat! I was wondering if they did anything for that over at PO.

Is Henry getting excited for the trip??? I'm sure you all are! I know once I get the suitcases out, it seems soooo real!

Have fun finishing up your last minute items...4 days will fly by! I'm so excited for your trip & reading your updates!!!

Big Bessie Suitcase is a hefty gal, I think a few of you might be able to fit. We've actually had flight personnel do double takes and measure it!

Are you doing Chef Mickey's breakfast or dinner?

Henry is VERY excited about the trip! He does little dances when we talk about it. Tonight I asked him if he wanted to go to Epcot the first night we got there, he said, "Sure, and ride Soarin'?" :goodvibes Friday we won't talk about it at ALL though. We cannot mention the "M" word (Mickey) otherwise there will be no sleep! :rolleyes1

This is my exact plan for this day too!! We are doing breakfast at Tusker House, AK till naptime, then over to the dance party at night!! If you see a frazzled blond walking around with a baby in a carrier, a high strung toddler, fast walking hubby and bewildered grandparents in tow, that will be me!

Thank you Brook and photographymom for the info on the vinylmation characters. I think a few will definitely be coming home with us!

4 day?! Wow, so cool!:woohoo:

Oh and top of my to do list right now is a pedi!!! As much as I would like to cheap out and do one at home, no way, these dogs are barking and need professional treatment!!

:rotfl: Oh I'm sure everything will go fine!!

Your welcome for the info on Vinylmation. I'm no expert, but photographymom IS. She knows her stuff!

I ended up doing a home pedi. They are so cheap here ($12 around the corner), but I just felt like doing it the other day. So I washed Henry's feet and did a massage and lotion on him too. He wanted paint on his nails like mine, but I drew the line considering he'll be in sandals in a few days!

Im so excited you mentioned me in your PTR haha I get thrills out of the simple things of life ahh! :)
Chef Mickey's for breakfast is so nice but I'm a mega serious breakfast pizza addict of epic proportions. Though oddly the Pop Century one is my favourite followed closely by 1900 park fare.
Is Henry getting excited for Cars 2? I have two little cousins (5 and 8) and they are soo addicted to cars, they are starting a countdown for it! I saw Mater well Larry the Cable guy on a morning talk show and they talked about it and it sounds awesome! I needs me some Lightning McQueen and Mater oh and Sally *giggles*

Can't wait to hear more pre planning!

I like to do proper shout-outs for all the tips so many DISers pass on! :thumbsup2

Does Chef Mickey's have breakfast pizza? I haven't had breakfast pizza in years - it sound delicious right now!

We actually haven't talked much about Cars 2 yet - and since we don't have TV we haven't seen any ads or anything for it. We have seen a trailer or two, but I don't know if he really "gets it" yet. We will be going though!!

Doing the three day dance!!!
:dance3::yay::woohoo::banana::dance3::banana: :woohoo::yay::dance3:

:dance3: 3 days!!! :dance3:

WOOT WOOT 3 day dance :cool1::banana::cool1::banana: Hopefully you are crossing things off the to do list and getting more and more excited by the minute!!!

You've only got 3 more days! :woohoo: I like your ticker so much more than mine....it still says over 3 months. :sad1:

Hey Brook!

I'm finally here in the nick of time before you leave!!!!!

:banana::banana: 3 DAYS!!!!:banana::banana:

I cannot believe you've gotten so close so fast!

Thanks for dancing with me!!!! I didn't get much done today, just started packing Henry's clothing - but I hope to get that done by bed time! Friday I'm going to be running around I'm sure!

My Dad talked to my cousin and she will be at the launch tomorrow. If I find out any geeky details I will let you know...along with any pictures if she sends them to him. :thumbsup2

Three days!!!!
:hyper::jumping1::hyper::jumping1::hyper:

Tracy

YES! So cool! Thank you! I'd love to see any pics! :hyper:

And I have to agree with LL, that is a pretty cute smiley combo! :goodvibes

3 days??!! 3 DAYS??! How did that happen? I'm just incredibly excited for you today- because tomorrow it will only be 2 days, and that's the day before the day you go!!

I cannot believe it's almost HERE! And we are going for two weeks! It totally seems surreal still.

3 days....:cool1::goodvibes

so pedi is done, most of bags are packed except the stuff in the laundry and the personal items you use every day, right? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

i am only a little jealous.....and will be watching your FB for my Disney Fix next week

Pedi is done! :thumbsup2 Nothing I need is in the laundry! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 (that is ONE perk to having to go to the laundromat!) and some personal items are packed because I just bought a big new one since the trip is long! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 We are getting cloooooooooooooooooooose!

I have one suitcase packed and laundry in the washer right now that will go in the other suitcase tomorrow afternoon. I'm in good shape with packing as of now. Just that last load of clothes and then my last minute stuff in the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Two Weeks from Today...March 9

Today we don't have any solid plans except a dinner ADR at Kona Cafe! We will still be on the DxDDP, using our our last credits, so I'll be stuffed to the gills! I already know for my entree I'm getting the
Teriyaki-style New York Strip - (sirloin strip grilled with pineapple teriyaki glaze served with mashed Yukon gold potatoes and stir-fried broccolini).

IMG_6125.jpg

(not my pic) I've heard way too many good things about this to not get it!

Just before dinner, if timing all works out, there will be a DIS meet right there in the Poly! I cannot reveal who this person is because they have not yet announced their trip! :rolleyes1 I truly hope the timing does work out and I am able to meet up with this wonderful family.

After dinner we might roll ourselves out onto the Poly beach to play and watch Wishes, which is at 9pm. I won't bother getting a hammock because after appetizer, dinner and dessert, I'm afraid I would not be able to get OUT of the hammock if I did get into one! ;)

Let's see...what haven't we yet covered for the trip? How about Flower and Garden Festival? It starts on March 2.

I gotta tell you...I'm SO excited about going during the F&GF!!! When we rode the UnMagical Express back to MCO on our very first trip, I was still very green in all things of Disney. As we watched the video they mentioned all the different festivals and parties they have - the one that stuck out to me was the F&GF. I have wanted to go since that very moment! I've drooled over the pictures here on the DIS, and I'm THRILLED to be going myself!

ep_eifagf_2010_001_a.jpg

They have quite a few different "extras" throughout the festival, here are a few that peaked my interest.

During our trip both Genevieve Gorder and Lisa LaPorta from HGTV will be on property doing various demonstrations. While I'm not die-hard on going to either presentation, I certainly wouldn't mind! I am fans of both of these lovely ladies and it would be a joy to see them in person! If I happen to attend Lisa LaPorta's session I will not be getting my picture with her because it will, in fact, confirm my giant-ed-ness. She's like 4'8" or something! ;)

Twice daily there is a hands-on workshop that sounds like it could be fun for all of us. Out of all the "extras" they have during the festival, this one is most interesting to me because it's hands-on and I think/hope that will help keep Henry's attention and won't turn into a stressful mess!

There are several areas I want to see:

  • Bambi's Butterfly House - Future World Imagination Walkway
  • Toy Story topiaries - Spaceship Earth
  • Cars topiaries - World Showcase Plaza
  • Winnie the Pooh & Friends topiaries - between Future World and World Showcase
  • Healthy Living Garden & Kids play area
  • Rapunzel's Tower - between Germany and Italy
  • Pixie Hollow Fairy Garden & play area
And of course, I want to walk around the World Showcase and just enjoy every single exhibit and topiary! I'm most excited about the tea cups with the herbs in them, I think those are adorable!

For those of you who have gone to the F&GF, any tips or things that shouldn't be missed?

ETA: I got a new pair of Keens today! I really like 'em!

Very, very soon MeMom!

Oh Brook, I think I know who your Dis meet is. And I am sooooo jealous! I was told "they" may go, and to keep it a secret awhile back...so I'm pretty sure I know who you are talking about. It will be fun and don't foget to take pictures!

Where are you finding all the F&G info at. I need to look and see what exciting things are happening while we are there.

I'm excited about the butterfly garden:)

nice job on your pedicure ;)...I love Keen, we all just got new pairs for the trip so comfy!

I have had that meal twice.
I feel sure there will be at least a third time. ::yes::

Yep! You are one of the people that have raved about it and convinced me! I remember you eating it at Kona on NYE! Why do I remember details like that, yet cannot remember what I did yesterday, I don't know...but there ya go. ;)

???

I really hope it works out!

AllEars.net, they have a link right on their main page now.

nice job on your pedicure ;)...I love Keen, we all just got new pairs for the trip so comfy!

Yes! There is that little tea cup! So cute.

I am excited about the butterfly garden too! I think H will be amazed.

I'm kinda "meh" about my pedi, but all well - it was free! I might attempt to touch it up a tad, otherwise - whatever, I'm going to Disney World where fanny packs are allowed! ;)

We love Keens too! I had my other pair since 2006 and they have been through a LOT. I'm excited to have a new pair!

I went to Flower and Garden last year with my son who was 6 at the time. The butterfly garden was the one thing he really enjoyed. Beautiful. I loved the topiaries. So well done. We really didn't tour it too much beyond those few things. Not a big "to do" for a 6yr old boy. :sad2: Looking forward to seeing your pictures of what we missed.

So that kinda stinks! yah i will try but my nerves usually get the best of me:confused3 what r your thoughts on Rockn' rollercoaster?

I can't wait to see what you think of F&G! We will be there in April, so it will be in full force by then. I am looking forward to the beautiful pictures I know will be coming!

Nice new Keens!

Can't wait to hear your Teppan Edo and Kona reviews. Those will both be first for us next trip!

Cute new shoes!

I so wish I could jump in your suitcase!!!

Your plans look great- you are going to love the F&GF. My favorite part was just walking around seeing all the topiaries, they are so pretty! I remember David really liked the butterfly garden, and the fairy playground was neat too. The one thing that sticks out in my mind was how HOT it was, but I think we went end of March/early April, so you should be fine.

That's awesome that you can add the dining plan as you need it like that! How does it work that you can stretch it over 2 days? That dinner at Kona looks very yummy! I've only eaten breakfast there.

I've been meaning to post that we finally have the Shamrock Shakes! :woohoo: I had one today- I saw on FB that you did too! They are so good!

I don't know if it's too late to take a request for merchandise or not? I would love to get David that little bus set that Henry loves so much! If you can't do it, no problem. :goodvibes

3 more days!!! :dance3:

:cool1::cool1: Happy 3 days!!!!!!!! :cool1::cool1:

You are gonna leave us hanging like this? Then we are going to have to wait for a 2 week trip to be over before you start a TR to find out? :sad2:

Wrong... just wrong. :headache:

After dinner we might roll ourselves out onto the Poly beach to play and watch Wishes, which is at 9pm. I won't bother getting a hammock because after appetizer, dinner and dessert, I'm afraid I would not be able to get OUT of the hammock if I did get into one! ;)
That is my idea of a great way to end a night! ::yes::

[*]Bambi's Butterfly House - Future World Imagination Walkway
We meant to stop in here last March but we ended up running out of time.

[*]Toy Story topiaries - Spaceship Earth
[*]Cars topiaries - World Showcase Plaza
[*]Winnie the Pooh & Friends topiaries - between Future World and World Showcase
These are all really cool to see!

For those of you who have gone to the F&GF, any tips or things that shouldn't be missed?
We usually just walk around and see all the topiaries and buy cool garden stuff like this...
