Two-way radios or cell phones?

We use our cell phones.

We have ATT and service is always good...no problems with reception. I was actually surprised when my phone rang as I was walking by the command station INSIDE Space Mountain!

Dis-knee...I checked into the mobile to mobile with ATT and it was only offered to me if we were on the shared plan although I sorta remembeit's optional if you paid more. Gotta check that before you sign up.

i vote for cell phones. who needs to hear static and other people's conversations.

if you are looking to save $$ you can always get the free tracfone that comes with the $25 phone card at www.tracfone.com it comes with about 80-90 units on it (about 80-90 minutes of talk time), and 2-4 months active airtime (depending upon when you redeem the minutes card. and if you wait to buy the second phone until after you get the first, you can take advantage of "refering" your spouse for the other phone and each get a pile of free minutes. you can also wait to activate your phones until you get to orlando, thereby ensuring that your phones won't be "roaming." (no, i don't work for tracfone--just like the deal they offer.)

We've used both and I really prefer using the cell phones. I found the radios really annoying. There was always a lot of people on all the channels and I had a hard time hearing. The cell phones worked great and I just kept mine on vibrate mode. If I missed the call, I could just check my voice mail.

in reference to cingular and att.. we have at&t, and our contract is up at end of July, we were told that cingular is buying at&t and they plan on offering deals to have us as customers... well the FTC has put a hold on this sale, so who knows?! I went to cingular kios at the mall today, and I like their plans better than what I have... so I'm thinking of taking the plunge and switching as long as I get to keep my #

doesn't anybody have radios that have the coded channels? you set your channel and then set a code for it (just like setting 2 channels.....)makes a world of difference!! regular 2 ways with only 22 channels aren't going to cut it in such a large area.

You should be able to keep your same phone number even if the two companies don't merge. A federal law was passed a while back that allows you to keep your same phone number when you switch companies. You may have to pay a small fee though.

Thanks for this thread. My wife and I have been having an ongoing discussion concerning this very topic, I think cell phones would be better, and she thinks that 2-way radios would be better. I have nextel, so there is no roaming charge for my phone, but she has AT&T, and she does pay the roaming charge, so either way, we will have to pay for something, either buy the radios or pay the roaming charge when we get home.

I'm taking phones next time! I hear these glowing reports about the radios and I have great experiences with ours at Sams and things but in Disney I got static and silence more than anything else. We have the 37 & 14 combo or whatever, but very rarely did I get my family in the parks. You don't think our teens had the radio turned off::yes::
