They work fine, despite the many false alarms. The only problem we had besides finding an empty channel, was replacing the spent batteries. We had Motorola Talk-abouts which lasted about 12-16 hours without being turned off. Not sure what models you have, but we bought a pack of Rechargeables and a charger prior to the cruise ($15). Have fun on your cruise.
We used ours on the first day, but it was hard to keep a channel that someone else was'nt on. It did surprise me how well they worked with all the metal on the ship, even a couple of decks apart.
Next cruise we will probably leave them behind, I think our 15 y/o DB twins enjoyed their freedom while on board without them anyway.
We have them and didn't take them. I did see them on board.
We took them to Disneyland and gave up on them because so many other people also have them. Remember, they only have 14 channels, even if you have a unique code, there still are only 14 channels to broadcast on, so even if your code activates your radio, and 7 other people will be transmitting at the same time.
