Hi...this is sort of a re-post, but I didn't get a response on my other one.

My sis and I are planning a trip for our extended family (about 30 people - parents, kids and 13 grand kids.)

We know we need at least 2 villas. My sister would like Emerald Island, but I am fairly flexible. We stayed at Sunset Lake with 12 people last year, and I loved the development, but the houses are (in general) not big enough for this crew. Windsor Hills does seem nice, but a bit out of our price range - ($4,200 total for two or three houses).

Has anyone ever done this before? Do you know of any nice groups or pairs of houses? I found one pair we like, but I'd like to get some sort of guest feedback before committing. I'd also love something with a nice view out the back for my mom and dad, who will likely not do much park touring.

My eyes are glazing over...help!

This house is a bit further than Emerald Island - it's off 27 in Davenport (Hampton Lakes). We stayed in one of their houses - both are 7 bdrm next door to each other - in Aug 2005 and the house was wonderful. Huge, pool backed to open area, so you didn't have a fence or neighbors to look at in the back. We were 3 families, total of 16 people, and would rent it again in a heartbeat if I needed a house this big again. The owner was great to work with, even bought a griddle for the kitchen when I asked if the house had one, even though I offered to bring ours from home. Travel time to the parks was not terrible, maybe 20 minutes tops, since we never hit much traffic. Hope this helps - and good luck with your search!

In Windsor Hills you would need 3 homes anyhow, not 2. By law, a 6 bedroom home in Florida can only sleep 14 guests. You have 30.

A home, by law, can sleep the # of bedrooms times 2, + 2 more if it has a sleeper sofa.

We're honestly not big fans of sleeper sofas, especially with a large group, who wants to be the very last people to get to go to sleep every night in the living room and get the uncomfortable bed?

It sounds like you need to large 8 bedroom homes, Windsor Hills tops out at 6 bedroom homes. I know Formosa Gardens has some 8 bedroom places, I would look there.

Thanks for your responses. I have looked on that website, and I've gotten some good leads. Emerald Island seems to have some bigger homes, as well.

As for occupancy, I wasn't very clear. Three members of our travel party will be under 2 years old...(in fact, one is not due to arrive until June), so they will be in cribs. I think that puts us in a better position for 2 homes...doesn't it...I'm not sure.

Traveling with a clan of Irish Catholics can be challenging...so many kids...but so much fun!

I've done this before & what I like to do is choose a few sites that rent multiple houses & just tell them exactly what your party looks like, how many cribs, high chairs, people, price ranges, etc. Then let them give you options. It saves a lot of wasted time searching the net.
