Hi :wave2: Welcome to my first PTR!

The cast is very simple.

Me - Christine, age 16

That's not the best picture, but I needed one and I took that on my phone about 5 minutes ago

And my mom, Nancy. She hates getting her picture taken so almost every picture of her comes out like this

:rotfl:

We live in Rhode Island with our 3 cats and our dog :) My parents got divorced when I was about 8, but they're still really good friends. I live with my mom but my dad lives about 5 minutes down the road so I see him all the time and I stay at his house whenever my mom is out of town.

We're a Red Sox obsessed family, so don't be surprised if you see me wearing Sox shirts and my Sox hat in a lot of my pictures :thumbsup2

I've been told that I'm not the typical teenager. Unlike most teenage girls I know, I love hanging out with my parents! My dad and I like the same music and we go to concerts all the time and he's teaching me how to play the drums and the guitar. My mom and I have a lot of the same interests too. Including Disney :) This will be our 7th mother daughter trip. My 8th trip total. My first one was with my mom and dad when I was 6 and then my mom took me on a surprise trip when I was 9. The next time we went, I was 11 and we've gone every year since!

With the exception of my first trip, we've always gone during April or February, because that's when my school vacations are. Of course I have the December vacation too but I can't convince my mom to go for Christmas :sad2:

We prefer to go during my Feb vacation, because the crowds are smaller and the temperature is better. Neither of us do well in the heat, because we've lived in RI forever and we're used to cooler weather. I'm terrible in the heat. I get really bad headaches and I get grumpy. It's usually in the 60's in Orlando in February. We like that :thumbsup2

This year, we had originally planned for April. My mom was supposed to have a big week of meetings at work. Or something like that...I don't ask questions about her job. Too complicated  Anyway, that was supposed to be during the week of my February break. So we thought we would be going in April. Then we would've been celebrating both of our birthdays. Hers is one day before mine. Apparently I was a birthday present ::yes:: But then she found out that her big work week was tentatively moved to April and there was a possibility that it would get moved to the week of my vacation. So about a week ago, we went ahead and booked for February :woohoo: We weren't sure if we could get flights this late, especially the week of vacation but we did it!

We're leaving around 8 AM on Tuesday, February 16th, and coming back on Monday, February 22nd around 9 PM. I'll miss one day of school, but that's not a big deal. The first day back from vacation is pretty slow anyway.

Because of a 40% off deluxe resort pin code, we get to stay at the Wilderness Lodge again :yay: A few years ago, we were supposed to stay at POR, but they overbooked and upgraded us to WL, no additonal cost. We got hooked. We've stayed there every year since

I apologize for the long introduction. I have a tendancy to ramble

I'll be back later for more planning fun! :)

Hi! Coming over from MeMom's thread!

Your mom's picture looks a lot like my mom's. :rotfl: She's gotten better and will get in pictures if we ask her nicely, but that's about it.

Red Sox obsessed = :thumbsup2

You're arriving on our last full day and my sister's 17th birthday so our trips overlap a little tiny bit. I'm jealous of you staying at WL, that is my dream resort.

Can't wait to read more!

Hi! I popped over from MeMom's report too! My mom was never one to like getting her picture taken either so I have a bunch that look like that!

We are going in April and staying at the WL. If you had kept your April dates we might have overlapped. My PTR is in my siggie if you have a chance to pop on over! I would love a Feb. trip but I am a teacher so I'm stuck with the school schedule.:sad2:

Looking forward to more!:goodvibes

Yay! I have readers! Welcome to the PTR :goodvibes

Yup, every time the camera comes out my mom puts a book or something over her face. If she doesn't have a book she just uses her hand

Yay! Another Red Sox fan! :yay:

Oh cool! Maybe we'll run into eachother!

I was going through vacation pictures that I've taken and almost all of them look like that! Most of the pictures where you can see her face are ones that she didn't know I was taking :rotfl:

We're stuck with the school schedule too. I'm a junior so I really can't miss more than a day or two.

I'll head over to your PTR now!

popcorn::

BOO Red Sox!!! Let's Go Yankees!!!!

Uh oh! A Yankees fan! Congrats on your 2009 win, but 2010 is our year ;)

Well, Yankees fans are welcome here too :)

I'm here! Your mom's picture look like pictures we have of MeMom!

Hi Jill! I'm not a huge fan of getting my picture taken either. I prefer to be behind the camera. But I'm not as bad as my mom or MeMom

Great start to your first PTR! I'm in NH - a transplant from Illinois, where these two weeks off in Feb. & April are unheard of! :lmao: I'm sorry you're missing your birthdays (my kids and husband have birthdays one day apart in April, too!) but you'll hit my birthday in Feb.!

Can't wait to hear more plans! :goodvibes

Welcome!!

Yes, people who aren't from New England get very confused when I start talking about Feb and April vacations

We were looking forward to celebrating our birthdays, but we'd rather go earlier than have to wait another two months so it's okay :thumbsup2

There are people who have a picture or two of me like that.

Maybe you guys could manage to cross paths long enough for a picture.

Wilderness Lodge is an awesome resort!

Okay, I am feeling better about the picture thing now. It seems we have a club forming here. ;)

On one occasion, I took a couple of sick days and used them for a Disney trip for Jill's birthday. Other than that, I've worked within the school calendar, too.

I'm here! Your mom's picture look like pictures we have of MeMom!

Show me those pictures. I don't believe it!

On second thought, don't show me those pictures. :upsidedow

Enjoy all your trip planning and anticipation, Tink! I'm looking forward to hearing all about it and seeing lots of good pictures.

Hi MeMom! Welcome!

I think I'll use purple for this PTR :)

I hope everyone had a good 3 day weekend! Mine got turned into a 4 day weekend! It's exam week at school and we only have to go in if we have an exam scheduled. My first one is at 9 AM tomorrow. But I'll be doing a lot of studying today so it's not too fun  But I have 4 exams which makes it an 8 hour school week for me :thumbsup2

Now for some trip planning! I booked our ADR's right after we booked the trip. My mom lets me handle the planning after the trip is booked :)

We're on the dining plan for 7 days so originally I booked 7, but I added one more a few days ago

2/16(Arrival Day!): Dinner at Liberty Tavern - 7:50
2/17: Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare - 10:00. We're not morning people  We also have dinner at Chef Mickey's at 8:50. That's the earliest I could get, but that's fine because we have the breakfast that day too.
2/18: Late lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe at 2:15
2/19: Lunch at Coral Reef at 1:50
2/20: Breakfast at Tusker House at 9:40. We also have dinner at Rainforest Cafe at 5:30. That's the one I added a few days ago. It's one of my mom's favorites and we'll already be at AK that day so we added it
2/21: Lunch at Crystal Palace at 11:35

We don't have anything the last day because we want as much park time as possible and we have to be back at WL around 3 to get picked up by the ME.

We'll probably have breakfast at WCC on the 18th because lunch is so late. That means we have two out of pocket meals, Rainforest Cafe and WCC. My mom's paying for Rainforest Cafe and I'm paying for WCC :)

And now I need to study. I hate exams :sad2: But I love the short school week ::yes::

Mmmmm...you have some good ADR's planned! We have either been to many of them or are trying them on one of our upcoming trips!

Good luck on your exams!:goodvibes

Lots of good eats! I'm so excited for Disney food.

We might be in MK on your first night when you're at LTT -- it's our last night and my sister's birthday, so that's probably where we'll end up. Maybe we can do what MeMom said and cross paths long enough for a picture -- I love DIS meets (even though I have only had one :rotfl: )

Prime Time Cafe...I love the decor and the whole atmosphere. My dad had to stand in the corner once while everyone else shook their fingers at him and said, "shame, shame, shame!" It is such a fun place!

Good luck on your exams!

We've done most of them before too. 1900 and Coral Reef are new for us :thumbsup2 We've eaten lunch at Crystal Palace every trip. It's become a tradition :)

Thank you! The really hard ones(Chemistry and Economics :scared1:) aren't until Friday, so I have more time to study for those.

Disney food is the best ::yes::

I'd love to do that! It would be my first DIS meet! We'll be in MK most of the day, assuming we don't have any delays. We land in Orlando at 10:55 AM and we're planning on heading to MK right after we check in at WL.

Prime Time Cafe is awesome! My mom's gotten in trouble both times we've eaten there. The first time was for having her elbows on the table and the second time was for not eating her vegetables :lmao:

Thank you!

I'M DONE WITH EXAMS!!!party:

I took my last one yesterday afternoon. I was like this after :faint:

But now I'm all done! So of course I went right back to trip planning today ::yes::

I switched two of our ADR's. I realized that evening EMH at AK is on the 17th, and I really want to go because I've heard awesome things about AK at night! So I switched Chef Mickey's and Rainforest Cafe. Now we're eating at Rainforest Cafe at 5:45 on the 17th and then we can go enjoy nighttime AK for the first time :cool1:

I hope everyone's having a good weekend! :goodvibes

Yay! for being done with exams. Now you can focus on your trip!:thumbsup2

Good idea to switch your ADR's. I, too, have read neat things about AK at night and am looking forward to doing that on my trip. I'll look forward to your pictures since you'll be back before I go!

But wasn't it a great one?!?!?
We have met only the very nicest people at all of our meets. :goodvibes

I'd love to do that! It would be my first DIS meet! We'll be in MK most of the day,

Okay, I think we might have a 'Meet Me at the Liberty Bell' meet formulating! Hopefully, you can meet long enough to say hello and get a picture throwing a big old colonial shout-out to those of us back at home!

I hope everyone's having a good weekend! :goodvibes

Congratulations on being finished with exams. Enjoy getting into full trip planning mode now! :cool1:

Yay for being done with exams!!! Also, AK at night is amazing. It's like a whole different park. I don't know if you do the thrill rides or not, but EE at night is the best. Oh, and I thought of you today; I was going with my dad to check out a Jeep down in I think Somerset (somewhere in southern MA, near the Rhode Island border), and I was like, "hey, Christine lives in Rhode Island." There are several DISers I think of whenever I hear a certain state.

But wasn't it a great one?!?!?

It was such a great meet! We're trying to coordinate another meet-up at some point. :goodvibes

I agree with that Meet me at the Liberty Bell meet -- Christine, we definitely should! I'll be the crying girl with the Boston accent. :lmao:

Aren't you guys getting a Lion King show soon? Are you going?
I was glancing through the North American Broadway schedule this weekend, and I think I remember seeing Boston for Lion King. I wish we had the money to come up that way to see that and the historical sights, but no can do. :sad2:

::yes::

Thank you! It feels so good to be done! I don't have to worry about exams again until June!

Whoa that's so weird! I was in Somerset yesterday too!

Yes! Let's do it!!!

I wish we had the money to come up that way to see that and the historical sights, but no can do. :sad2:

I loooove Boston! I'm lucky because I'm so close. But you're close enough to Disney to drive there so we're even ;)

MeMom, thanks for the heads up about Lion King -- I am so going to check that out and see if I can convince someone to go with me. Katie gave me an iTunes gift card for Christmas that downloaded 12 tracks from various musicals, and something from the Lion King was one of them -- it came up on my iPod earlier and I was thinking of how much I'd love to see it!

I love EE! It's one of my favorites! I'm so excited to go on it at night!!!

You're going to love it at night. ::yes:: It's open till 8 or 9 on the day we arrive, so I am hoping to get in a few rides on it. And Dinosaur, even though it makes me cry a little. :rotfl2: It scares me to death but I love it.

I can't believe you were there, too! That's so strange!

Do you want me to PM you my cell sometime before I go so we can call or text and see where the other is that night? I'm 99.9% certain that we'll end up at MK, because that's where we usually do, and where my sister will probably choose for her birthday.
