Two Very Merry Un-Birthdays - Feb 2010 (Updated 8/9)

I just got a text from Christine a few minutes ago -- they landed in Orlando ten minutes early! She said that she wished she could use DIS smilies via text (don't we all :rotfl2:), but she can't, so here is the smiley she wanted to use -- I am so looking forward to our meet-and-ride on EE tomorrow!

Yay for getting there! And I'm with her on the DIS smilies...how often do we text each other with descriptions of the smilies? :lmao::lmao:

How cute. I know she is beside herself excited! Let her know all of us crazy bananas out here are dancing with her.

(That is Jill, Brooklynn, Bella, and MeMom, in case you don't recognize us!)

For real - phones and Facebook both need smilies!

I'll let her know when I see her tomorrow! :rotfl: I agree about the smilies -- I actually texted Katie earlier tonight and said it should have the cloud 9 smiley in it. :rotfl2:

My family and I got to meet up with Christine and her mom at MK tonight and ride HM together! It was a lot of fun, and tomorrow we are still going to meet up at Animal Kingdom during the nighttime EMH for a ride (or two, or three) on EE. My phone was almost dead so I had it turned off for most of the evening, so I didn't get to talk to her much after that, but I know that they turned in early tonight because they had such an early and long day. I am really excited to meet up again and ride Everest!

So I've been meaning to update a little bit because Christine and I have been texting a lot, but I was slacking. We met up on Wednesday night as planned for the AK nighttime EMH, and had SO much fun! We got to ride EE, Dinosaur, and Primeval Whirl/Hurl. I'm really excited to get to that part in my TR (which I haven't even started due to picture woes), because it was a lot of fun. Christine and her mom are so nice, and we had a lot of fun!

Today is their last full day. :sad1: She texted me this morning and said that she hated waking up to find that ME envelope on the door telling them they have to leave tomorrow. Right now, she and her mom are at MK, and I think heading to Epcot afterwards. She texted me when she was walking down Main Street eating a chocolate croissant, which I think is the perfect way to start a day. :cloud9: They don't get picked up by the ME until about 3:30 tomorrow, so they'll have a little extra time to say goodbye.

Christine and her mom are getting ready to go through the security at MCO. :sad2: Their flight leaves Orlando at 7 and lands in Rhode Island around 9:40 PM. Christine has to go to school tomorrow so I'm not sure when she'll be on and able to update, but she took over 900 pictures on the trip, so she's very excited to share. :rotfl:

I'm back!!!

We had an AMAZING vacation!!!!!!! Everything was great. It was "cold" the first few days, but since I live in RI, high 40's isn't cold for me! It was in the 60's after Friday morning, and it hit 70 yesterday! The crowds were worse than I expected but they were thinning out on Friday and it was awesome over the weekend.

I had a great time meeting up with Meghan and her family!!! It was soooo fun! Thank you for posting the updates, Meg!!!

Normally I'd be getting ready for bed now since I have school tomorrow, but at the moment I'm like this :hyper: I can never sleep right after I get home from anywhere, and I also slept for about 45 minutes on the plane, so I'll be up for a little while.

I was very, very sad when we left today :sad1: I cried when we left Magic Kingdom and then when we drove off Disney property. But, I'm happy to be home. I just hate leaving, but once I'm home I'm okay. I really hate the fact that tomorrow instead of waking up at the Wilderness Lodge and heading out for a day of fun, I'll be heading to school :sad2:

Anyway, I'm hoping to start the TR tomorrow depending on homework and stuff like that. I'll definitely start some time this week!

Good night everyone!

You are welcome for the updates, and I had such a blast meeting up with you! I know my sister didn't say too much (well, she did talk a lot, though not directly to you ), but she said that you and your mom were so nice! She isn't one to dole out compliments so you should be proud. :rotfl: Also, if you want to use any of my redneck pictures from our Dinosaur rides, let me know and I'll send you a PM to my Facebook albums. They're on their as friends-only albums but there's a link that I can use to share them with anyone.

You get zero recovery time, huh? I think Katie gets like one day. I can't decide if I'd rather throw myself right back into the routine or have a few days off. My class was canceled today and I am back to work on Wednesday since I don't work Mondays/Tuesdays...it's going to be weird going back!

I can't wait for the TR to start! I hope you have a good first day back!

Yay for a good trip....sad that you had to come back! And I'm glad we have at least one day this time since I have a group project...I'm not sure I could just throw myself back into routine...so good luck on the rest of this week for you!

I meant to text you, how was the first week back? And are you guys having crappy weather like we are? There were all sorts of wind advisories yesterday, and when I was leaving work and walking to my car, it literally felt like there was a huge hand on my back pushing me. I would definitely rather have rain instead of snow, though. I am so ready for spring. I think it is to the point where I might cry a little if there's more snow. :rotfl:

Awww! You guys were all really nice too!!! As you said on MeMom's TR, I'm not far from you so we can definitely meet up again!!! I'm only an hour away from Boston ::yes::

Coming back is always sad :sad2: On Tuesday morning I was REALLY wishing I had a day to recover

Glad you had a good time! :goodvibes
can't wait until you start the TR! popcorn::

I'm excited to start my TR, I just haven't had time yet  I'm hoping to start tonight or tomorrow!

It was exhausting :faint: But I made it and it's finally Friday :woohoo: Yes! The weather is disgusting! It's been raining since Tuesday morning. It snowed a little bit today. I'd actually rather have snow than rain. Nice snow. Fluffy, fun snow. Not wet, slushy snow that looks gross. I looove snow but we've had a ton of it this winter! I'm ready for spring too. Spring means baseball season! Spring training started last week and I just realized that soon I'll be watching my Sox every day again so I'm like this :hyper:

I'm sorry it's taking me so long to start the TR! I confess, I haven't even gotten my pictures off the camera yet  It was a looooong, busy school week even though I was only there for 4 days! I was extra tired all week from Disney. But did I go to be early once this week? Of course not  My thought process makes no sense sometimes :rotfl:

I've also been having problems with my laptop. Well, not the actual laptop. The charger. We've had the laptop for over 2 years, and the charger it came with died a few months ago. My mom went to Best Buy and they told her to buy a universal charger, so she did. That one worked for about 2 months and then suddenly stopped. Then we bought another one. Guess what happened. That one died a couple days ago. It only works if I'm pressing the tip into the laptop a certain way :confused3 Trying to use my laptop with one hand and holding the charger in place with my other hand wasn't working very well, especially since I had to hold it with my right hand and I'm right handed. At one point today I got it to charge on its own and I turned it on when it said it was fully charged. Well...literally 5 minutes after I turned it on it said it was only 5% charged and then it turned off  So now I'm using the desktop. I HATE this thing :headache: It's sooooo slow and it always freezes on me!!! But it's better than nothing, so I'll deal with it until we figure out what's up with my charger.

Now I'm gonna put my pictures on this computer and upload them to photobucket. I've never used photobucket so this is an experiment  I'm also putting the pictures on a CD because this computer has deleted my pictures before. I think this computer is holding a grudge against me :lmao:

Depending on how long this picture thing takes, I'll either start the TR tonight or tomorrow!

Sorry you are having computer issues! I was having issues with my pictures, too, but after like 2 days I figured out that it was not my laptop or iPhoto, it was Facebook being stupid. I wish I could help you with Photobucket but I don't really use it.

I heard that the Red Sox home opener is on April 4, Easter Sunday. Weird, huh?

I think I finally figured out Photobucket. I've been messing with it for about two hours :rotfl: Now let's see what happens when I try to post the pictures here

Yup, Easter! I was surprised too. It's against the Yankees and it's gonna be a nationally broadcasted game so it's a big deal. I'm excited!!! It's not until 8:00 PM, so I should be back from any Easter festivities in time ::yes::

Sorry I didn't start yesterday! I ended up spending the day at my aunt and uncle's house. I thought we were going over there today instead but apparently I was wrong  But now, finally, I'm starting this TR!!!

Tuesday, February 16

Actually first a little bit from the night before...I was hoping to be in bed by 10:00, since we had to be up at 4:00. Did that happen? Of course not :rotfl: I think it was somewhere around 11:00. I had been driving my mom insane all day because I kept checking the weather. She kept saying that there was nothing we could do about it no matter how many times I checked the forecast. Good point. But then when the news was on I came into the family room and found her watching the weather

I was worried I wouldn't fall asleep that night, because I never sleep well the night before we go anywhere. But it only took me maybe 20 minutes to fall asleep, and I didn't wake up at all until my alarm went off. Little side note about my alarm clock...I tend to sleep through my alarm even though it's REALLY loud and annoying. It just keeps beeping until you turn it off. I'm a really heavy sleeper and one time I slept through it for a full half hour :rolleyes1 My mom's room is right next to mine and she has the same alarm. Sometimes I'll wake up when hers goes off, but not mine. I don't get it :lmao:

Thankfully, I woke up when my alarm went off. It's amazing how much easier it is to get out of bed when you're going to Disney, and not to school :upsidedow I figured my mom would be getting up around the same time, so I went into her room and the bed was empty. She was already in the shower. Neither of us are morning people so I was impressed

Then I nervously walked over to the window to look outside. I was afraid that I'd find inches of snow. I opened the curtain and....I was EXTREMELY relieved. There was less than one inch, and it had already stopped snowing

We got dressed, brushed our teeth, etc. My mom had a little cereal, but I wasn't hungry yet so I decided to wait until we got to the airport to eat. While I was taking the suitcases out to the car, it started snowing again :scared1: It wasn't very heavy, but I was terrified about our flight getting cancelled, especially after what happened to Megablocks. We decided we should leave a few minutes early because of the weather, so we did one last sweep through the house to make sure everything was turned off, locked the door, and got into the car. At this point it was snowing hard. Very hard. But it was really fluffy snow, and I had no problem wiping it off the car. We got to the airport around 5:30, parked the car, and headed inside. It was crowded so we took that as a good sign. We already had our boarding passes, so we checked our bags(Gotta love Southwest!) and went through security. They had to do a thorough inspection of my shoes for some reason. They had to check them again after they went through the x-ray machine. Maybe because they smell so bad :rotfl:

After our shoes were on and we made sure we had everything, we went to check the monitor. All flights, except one to Chicago, were on time :worship: Now we were feeling a little calmer. We headed over to Dunkin Donuts. I didn't feel the need to take a food picture since we weren't actually in Disney yet :rotfl: I think I had a breakfast sandwich and some hashbrowns. I think my mom had a sandwich too. Then after a quick trip to the bathroom, we went to our gate. I think it was about 6:45 or 7:00 at this point. While we were waiting to board, we saw three other planes take off so that made us feel a LOT better. We got on the plane, found seats, and waited. They had to de-ice the plane, so we were a few minutes late taking off, but I was just happy that we were actually leaving! I was so relieved once we were in the air. We had a really smooth flight. I love Southwest because they still give you free snacks and drinks! I napped a little bit, but not much. I mostly just listened to my MP3 player. About 2 and a half hours later, the pilot said that we would be beginning our descent soon. He also told us that it was 46 degrees in Orlando. My mom and I just burst out laughing when he said that :rotfl: We really didn't care about the weather. We were so relieved to be on the way. I was really happy that I didn't have any ear issues on that flight. I have a lot of inner ear problems, so flying isn't much fun for me. But on that flight they were absolutely fine. The flight home was a whole different story. My right ear still hurts :sad2:

Anyway, we landed smoothly and got off the plane faster than normal. I texted Meg and told her we landed. Then we got on the fake monorail, as Meg calls it. I always go to the end so I can sit on that little bench thing. I don't think there's ever been a trip where I haven't sat there

Finally, pictures!

Disney2010001.jpg

Time for the first candid picture of my mom. There were a lot of these :ssst:

Disney2010002.jpg

Look! Palm trees! We're really in Florida!

Disney2010005.jpg

We sat down for a couple minutes in the airport so I could call my dad and my grandma and let them know we landed. Then, finally, we headed to the Magical Express counter. Except they had us go to a podium next to the counter instead. I forget why.

Disney2010007.jpg

We got on the ME bus and headed for Disney World :yay: I love the ME video :cloud9: I didn't get a picture of the WDW arch because I was filming. I'll try to get my videos on here at some point, but my video camera and digital camera are seperate so I'll do that later. I was texting Meg and our ME bus went under the Magic Kingdom sign at the same time as her bus :) Our first stop was the Poly, then the Grand Floridian, and then the Wilderness Lodge!!! I was all prepared to take a picture of the sign while we were going under it but they had taken it down. They put a tarp up there later that week. I assume they were fixing the sign or making a new one. I did get a picture of this though.

By this point I was like this :hyper:

CopyofDisney2010013.jpg

Sorry that one is so dark. My camera was being mean to me

We checked in and our room was ready :cool1: We headed to our room and found our Mickey towel :)

Disney2010016.jpg

I claimed my bed. The one near the window. I always choose that one for some reason. Then I went out onto the balcony to see our view. We had a woods view room and this is what I saw to the left

Disney2010020.jpg

and to the right.

Disney2010021.jpg

I was too excited to remember to take a picture of what I saw right in front of me :rotfl: It was a bunch of trees, and I could see a little bit of the pool through them.

Meg, this is the coat hanger I was telling you about!

Disney2010019.jpg

After taking the pictures, I put my contacts in. This was very exciting because I've only had them for a few months and had never worn them in Disney before. I don't know why it was such a big deal to me, but it was :lmao: I put them in my carry-on instead of wearing them to the airport. I knew I'd fall asleep on the plane, and from what I've heard it's really uncomfortable if you fall asleep while wearing contacts. Then I put my camera, wallet, and phone into my little park bag, which was inside my carry-on. After a quick bathroom break, we headed towards the bus stop!

I'm stopping here for right now. I might do more in a little while, but right now I have a little bit of homework to finish up!

The Sox home opener...yeah, my family will make it a point to be home to catch the game. Not even a point, a priority. :rotfl: We are generally home by then, but I can just see my dad and my brother getting paranoid.

I was so excited when you texted me that you started your report!! And no, I'm not done yet with my homework, I'm taking a little break. It's so funny seeing the things that you were seeing or doing when you were texting me. :)

I can't wear contacts anymore, but it IS highly uncomfortable falling asleep with them in. :headache: Been there, done that. I am so excited to read more!

It's a priority for us too :thumbsup2 I'm actually glad it's on a Sunday night. Usually it's on a week day afternoon at like 2. I don't get home from school until around 3 and I need to see the whole game, including opening ceremonies ::yes:: One of my friends once said to me "Can't you just tape the game and watch it later?" My response was "NO!!!! IT'S NOT THE SAME!!!!!!!!" :rotfl:

Yup, it's fun to have someone who was there at the same time!!!

My cousin goes to bed with hers in sometimes  She has the kind that you throw out after one day so maybe that makes a difference

I just figured out how to resize my pictures! I'll fix the ones I already posted. They're gonna disappear for a little bit but they'll be back in a few minutes!
