*Gasp* I let this pre-trip report languish until in landed on page 2! Oh the horror.
So, the only thing to do is get down to the planning. And as I started to think about it, I realized that I can't just plan this trip. I also have to plan the one after it too. Why? Because as I scroll through the
food porn thread
and look at the resort board and the theme park strategies borad, I realize that I am separating everything into two categories - things I want to do on my solo trip and things I want to do on my next family trip. Since I am mentally planning them together anyway, I might as well actually type them out together too.
So, let's start with some dates. They will probably all change anyway, but that is part of the fun, right? Right.
Solo trip: As I mentioned in the first post, this all came about when I realized that I would be in WDW for a conference Sun Oct 3- Wed Oct 6th, 2010. I typically fly out the day before the conference and fly back the day after, so Saturday Oct 2 - Thurs Oct 7th. But, I want a few days to explore outside the conference (I'll be good and actually ATTEND the conference while I am there - at least as much as I usually do - they pack things in 24/7 so I already tend to pick and choose, but I digress...). I don't have to worry about airfare costs too much as my University will pick up the tab for that, but I do try to be frugal with their $$ anyway. My University will also pick up the tab for Sat night- Wed night at the hotel and I will need to pay any extra days beyond that. Sooo, ultimately my dates might depend on what hotel rates I can get for those extra nights, but for now let's say I'm going Sat 10/2-Sat 10/9. And again, so there is no confusion, that is Oct 2-9,
2010
Family trip: Again, this depends on so much. We are trying for another little rug rat, but who knows if that will happen? The original idea that I finally sold hubby on

was that said rug rat would arrive sometime in 2008 (hmmm.. running out of time on that one!

) and that we would go back to WDW in Feb of 2011 when said rugrat was 2. When we went the first time with DD, she was 2 and 3 months and I thought that worked well.
Of course, since we have been back I keep seeing how much she would enjoy it now (at 3 years 2 months). However, I think we did make out bringing her before she turned 3 - free admission to the parks, free buffet, etc... So, the dates of this trip might depend on the newest rug rat, and trying to go right before she (or he - Freudian slip there) turns 3. At this point, we might be looking at Sept/Oct of 2011 instead of Feb, although then DD will be in 1st grade and we would have to take her out of school and I don't know if I want to do that. I have always been in February before - the first two times in late Feb during school break and have always found that to be a good time to go. So, for now, let's say Feb 2011, probably later in the month to coincide with DD's school break from Kindergarten.
So, that is where I am now. Except of course I am trying to convice DH how much I NEED a trip even sooner that 2010. He's not biting yet..... I've got to keep finding good stuff on the DIS to help convince him
Thanks for reading!
