Two Trips Around the World and a Surprise Trip Next.*A much overdue update!

Congrats on your BoG ressie!

Thank the lord I didn't have to call this morning. I will be gone when it opens, which is sad but I am almost thankful I didn't have to deal with this. I can't believe the madness!

It was the craziest thing I've ever experienced as far as Disney goes. At the end of the day my good friend, who was tracking down ressies, called me and we kept saying how nuts it was. That stinks that you will be gone after it opens. I'll hop over and check out your plans. :)

So glad you made it through that BOG ADR craziness!! I can't believe there was availability on Christmas and not on your November dates!

Your plans (for all trips!) are sounding great to me :thumbsup2. We're trying Garden Grill this trip for the first time because of our family's obsession with Living with the Land, too! Great minds :thumbsup2.

I know...isn't that the strangest thing?! :confused3 I almost laughed because it seemed not real. You hear all these stories about how nutty Christmas is and how packed the parks are. Anyways, it worked out and I'm glad Andy and I get to do BOG for a date in January.

Glad to know my family is not the only ones that have a fond appreciation for Living with the Land. Today I told AG that we were going to get to eat with Mickey and friends at the 'Vegetable Ride' and he was beside himself with excitement. ;) Clearly, I'm in the running for mother of the year with that reservation. Ha. Your trip is almost here! So, excited for y'all. Can't wait to hear all about it and get your Garden Grill opinion before we go.

Joining in.

That is CRAZY about BOG!!!! I am hoping that by the time we go in Setp (13) that things will have died down. I would like to try to CS but doubt I could have DH go there for a TS (he's not a fan of French food).

Again, it was the craziest thing ever! Not for the faint at heart. Ha. :rotfl: I hope you get to do it when you go next fall and I really hope that it dies down for everyone as whole. Although, at the moment it's probably a hotter reservation than Le Cellier. Andy and I have entertained the idea of QS in November but I honestly don't know if they'll have the kinks worked out by the time we are there. For some reason I have these visions of it turning in to a production just sit down and eat. I can also seeing it being an absolute mob with people wanting to eat there since they didn't secure ADRs. We said we'll go check out just for curiosities sake. :)

Whew! Life. Non-stop crazy the last few weeks and I haven't been on at all. So, for that I'm sorry. Although, I'm sure some of you can relate.

Updates:

(In no particular order)

~BOG take 2! So, we all remember the nutty day I posted about last time. The day the world stopped and ADRs for Be Our Guest became available. Well, I had figured out that literally days after that I would get to attempt it all over again for the Princess 1/2. In my mind I was like surely it would not be as bad because It would be at the 180+10 window. The date I wanted was that Sunday night after race to kind of wrap things up. Perfect, right? Ha. :rotfl2: So, I set my alarm and got up early on a Sunday. I log in and the computer system is not working. Lovely. So, I then decided to bypass it all together and just call. I get to talk to a rep immediately and I tell her what I need and she begins the search. She responds with, "um. I am so sorry but I don't have ANYTHING AVAILABLE on that day. It's already booked?!" She was shocked herself. Seriously?! This is days before it will be open to the public and it's already booked solid by people that got to book at the 180+10?! I then tell her to search my whole dates and see if she has anything available. (I'll rearrange my plans I just need this ADR for my sister and SIL.) Thankfully, she has just a few spots left for dinner on Friday. Saturday was already full as well. Are you kidding me?! Again, this reservation is probably the craziest thing to secure in the history of Disney. We've done Le Cellier a couple of times now and even that wasn't this big of a deal. BOG our first night...actually didn't throw my plans off too much and fits in nicely now. My sister and SIL were over the moon. I also got to chatting with the girl that helped me and told her about my first round of craziness...she laughed and said that it was craziest day she had ever worked. I believe it.

~October Resort Location: Changed! What?! Yes, at the moment it has been changed to a different Marriott. Long story, but my MIL has a few extra points that now need to be used up. I called to see if they had a 1 bedroom available for us to just upgrade our studio and they had nothing. So, the guy rebooked us at Grande Vista, where we've stayed the last two times we've stayed off-site, since they have a higher point value. Also, at the moment the new reservation gives us another day! Don't get excited for me just yet. Andy doesn't think he'll have the time off to be able to stay an extra day. So, he wants me to keep calling back and seeing if I can track down a 1bedroom. Eh. All of this happened last Monday and so I need to check back this week to see if they have anything. If we can't upgrade I may just hold on to the reservation we have and see how it goes. We may just get down there and Andy decide we need to stay an extra day. ;) One can dream, right?

~We are a month away! WAHOO. For some odd reason I had the need to tweak our ADRs tonight. Of course, I go and check everything out and there is nothing available that is better than what I already have. Ha. I think it makes me either a crazed planner or slightly OCD. Can anyone relate?!

~Trip supplies: I tend to start stashing/stock piling stuff as we go. I find that it is cheaper this way since I can slowly pace myself. It all goes in to a box so that I have it when we get ready to pack. Today AG and I went to the store to pick up a few things and I opted to let him go ahead and pick out the special snacks he wants to take with us on the trip. Included in what he picked out... a box of Brave and Toy Story fruit snacks. One for him and one for his baby sister. Never mind that she can't eat them yet. I didn't have the heart to tell him, sweet boy. And on a completely unrelated note Avi-Kate's hair is coming in curly! She might need to be Merida for Halloween next year.

~Countdown to our Trip: I'm in the process of reworking my previous countdown board. Once I get it finished I'll post pictures. Since our kids are so little I feel like a massive countdown just wouldn't work well. The last few times we've gone we've counted down from the three week mark. Much more manageable...but don't be fooled I've been counting down for months! ;)

~AG is...40 inches with shoes on! (39.5 barefoot) Andy and I are really excited about this possibility. However, we aren't sure if AG will be gung-ho for some of the 'new' stuff that will now be available to him. Take for example, Splash Mtn., we know he would LOVE the actually riding around part but the drop might freak him out. He tends to be a little cautious when it comes to new things. So now the current conversation is do we just put him on it and deal with him hating it after? Eh. I don't know. Part of me thinks he'll love it we just need to give him a nudge. We've also been talking up the Barnstormer now that it is back up and going. (Both of these we have watched videos on youtube to show him.) We'll see. I guess we'll just feel it out once we get there. Avi-Kate on the other hand is absolutely FEARLESS and would probably ride Everest if that was possible. She's a daredevil already at 15 months. Labor Day Weekend she had a meltdown at my MIL's pool because she couldn't swim by herself. Yes, by herself unassisted by flotation devices. She was mad when we put her in the baby float, water wings on, etc. Heaven help me. If she was a wee bit older and had a wider vocabulary then I would go ahead and start teaching her how to swim.

I'm sure there is something else I've forgotten. Oh, well. Hope everyone is off to a good week. Thankfully, it's finally starting to cool off a bit here in GA. At least the mornings feel fall-ish.

OH MY WORD! The image of Avi-Kate as Merida is just too cute to handle!

I can totally relate to looking at ADR possibilities until the last minute. And nothing is available. And I already have amazing ADRs. Just can't stop myself!

Sawyer has had the same meltdown about swimming! Crazy fearless babies!!

Your little redheads are so cute! My aunt and uncle are both brunettes and have two little redheads too!

I'm responding and you won't see this for days because you are having an amazing time at Disney World. :cool1:

I know...I'm hoping it continues to come in curly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Glad I'm not alone with ridiculous planning and ADRs. It's like they keep calling your name and you just have to make sure there isn't anything else out there. Ha.

Clearly Sawyer and Avi-Kate would be best buds and dare devils together. Heaven help us! ;)

Your little redheads are so cute! My aunt and uncle are both brunettes and have two little redheads too!

Thanks! Red hair is lots of fun...do they get asked about where it comes from? We get asked daily. We can't take the kids anywhere without being asked about it. Most of the time people are quite positive about it. Although, I've been asked on more than one occasion if my children are the milk man's child. There are so many ways you can respond to that... :rotfl:

Let's face it a good PTR has changes. Lots and lots of changes. ;) So, I'm changing things up.

Earlier this month I had to switch our resort location because of my MIL's timeshare. Anyways, changing resorts gave us an extra day but Andy said he really didn't think he'd be able to swing an extra day off work. While discussing things at the end of the week last week it dawns on me that the extra night at the resort could save us some $. Originally, I had planned for us to drive half way and spend the night somewhere and pay OOP for a room. Then we would drive the rest of the way on Friday and have 1/2 a day in the parks...we'd stay till Tuesday and come home. Well, it dawned on me that I could actually tweak things slightly and we wouldn't have to pay for that room OOP. So the new plan is that we will stay home Thursday. Friday morning I'll take AG to school and Andy will work from home. I'll get last minute things packed/together. We'll pick AG up at 1 and hopefully, be on the road by 2. We'll end up driving the whole way but that's ok. That should get us south of ATL before traffic gets heavy and that's all that matters. We'll get in probably between 11-12 that night. Hopefully, the kids should sleep part of the way down and we'll be able to get them in the room/back to bed without too many issues. ;) Now that we are not coming down Thursday Andy is okay with coming back on Wednesday. Basically everything got shifted by a day.

Here are the changes to our itinerary...guess it was a good thing I was looking at changing ADRs around since I picked up two new ones. :rotfl:

Saturday-Breakfast in the room
-Animal Kingdom for Rope Drop or shortly there after.
-QS Lunch...since AK has limited eating options our TIW card is accepted at QS locations meaning we'll get 20%off our meal.
-Break...I'm hoping to leave after lunch and go back to the resort for a bit to swim or nap. We'll probably need it after our late night.
-Magic Kingdom...they've pushed back their closing time to 10 so that's why we opted to come spend the evening. QS for dinner and we'll just go wherever the kids want and stay as long as they want.

Sunday (Doesn't Change!)
-Breakfast in the room
-Magic Kingdom and QS lunch
-We may leave for a bit and then come back for MNSSHP...we're playing it by ear.
-Early dinner at Liberty Tree 5:45pm. I did this on purpose so that we are in the back of the park when everyone is coming in/going out. When we finish we'll be able to start enjoying the party away from the chaos. (If we stay and don't go back to the resort we'll make our way to the front of the park at some point in the afternoon to get our wristbands/treatbags.)

Monday (Doesn't Change...sort of. :))
-EPCOT
-If we can swing it I told Andy we should do breakfast at Sunshine Seasons since we've never done that before...FantasylandMom always raves about what a wonderful combination Sunshine Seasons and Soarin' are so I think we might give it a go.
-Lunch is Food and Wine Festival...yum-o!
-Dinner is at the Vegetable Ride aka Garden Grill. I told AG the other day he was going to get to eat next to the Vegetable Ride and he got really excited. Ha. I can't wait for the day when he's a tween and he tells us how lame Living with the Land is...then Andy and I will proceed to go on and on about how much he LOVES it. It's why on his last trip we bought him a Living with the Land pin for his collection.
-Illuminations if the kids are up for it...if not we'll do it when we come back in November since we will be on property.

Tuesday
-DHS
-Breakfast at Hollywood and Vine BEFORE the park opens...hooray! This will be great because we should be done right when the park opens so we can make a beeline for Midway Mania. AG absolutely LOVES this ride. So, we are hoping to ride stand by first thing and then grab FastPasses for later that day.
-Lunch...we may just get a snack for lunch since we'll have eaten a buffet this morning.
-Dinner we are eating at Sci-Fi for the first time. Andy and I are both excited about eating here since we've heard so much about it.
-Fantasmic! if the kids are feeling it and then back to the resort for the last night. Don't worry I won't be sad because we will literally be back 5.5 weeks later for our surprise Christmas trip! :goodvibes Ahhhhhhh! I can't wait.

In other news the kids Halloween costumes arrived this past week and they are ADORABLE. Oh my goodness. AG is Peter Pan and Avi-Kate is Tink and they are both so cute. I need to pull the pics off my phone so that I can post them for y'all to see. Made me really excited about MNSSHP...I'm so ready to be there. Thankfully, our trip is now 3.5 weeks away. Hallelujah! Reality is the next three weeks are going to fly by and I'll probably be left scrambling to get everything packed. We've got stuff planned every weekend between now and when we leave. Anyways, I'm off to go get caught up on PTRs and TRs.

Well since we are back to staying at Marriott's Grande Vista here's a picture of our view from last March:

IMG_0104.jpg

Amazing, right?! Oh, would you believe in the times we've stayed there we've never even made it to the pool...the plan is to change that this trip. I hope. ;)

Not much else is new. We are almost at the two week mark and I'm starting to look towards getting things packed. I picked up some more stuff we needed today for the trip. (Diapers, swim diapers, miscellaneous food items, etc.) The only problem is that the next two weeks are wild. This weekend we are at my parents in Atlanta. Friday night we are going to see the Braves play since they are honoring Chipper Jones that night. On Saturday, Andy and I will head to Athens to see UGA take on UT while my parents watch the kids. Then we'll head back home Sunday to gear up for the next weekend when everyone comes to visit us for Mountain Day Weekend. (It's our Alma Mater's homecoming of sorts.) That's what I'm unsure about. Normally, when I start packing I take over the queen bed in Avi-Kate's room so I can spread out. Obviously, with people coming to stay with us I don't need to have the bed buried under a mountain of laundry. :rotfl: I'm torn on whether to start packing and then move the packed bags to our room for the weekend so they are out of the way OR do I just wait till after our company leaves? Decisions, decisions.

Here's some photos from our last few trips...it's so much fun to look back at these and see how much the kids have grown.

Sounds very much like the chaos before my trip! And we all know how my packing ended up--an hour before!! You will do much better than that, I am sure. That looks like a gorgeous resort! I am already starting to think about next year...

Ahh, everyone's trips are getting so close!!! I still have a little longer to go than most of the PTR's I'm reading since we are going at the end of the month, but I know once everyone else leaves for their trips, mine will be even closer, so it's okay! :rotfl: I'm glad the changes worked out for you...we are in the midst of working out some changes to our stay as well. And same as you, it is all to save $$!

I'm sure that despite my efforts I'll still be running around like a mad woman right up until we leave. ;)

Thanks...despite being off property it really is gorgeous. They all just got updated so when we were there in March the room we had was 'brand new'. What are you thinking about doing next year? How was the split stay? Would you do something like that again?

Glad all the changes have worked and like I said on your PTR I really am glad it worked out for your parents to join y'all. It should be a great trip. I can't wait to read all about it. :)

Wahoo...SINGLE DIGITS! :yay:

We are slowly getting things together. Today I actually started packing the kids. Earlier in the week when I did laundry I started setting aside stuff for the trip and today it all got put in to a bag. I'll probably pull it all back out and reorganize it right before we leave but my goal is to just keep adding to it as we go this next week. We'll see how it goes. I'm a big planner (ha! find me a person who isn't on these boards!:rotfl2:) and map out our meals for dinner each week. Well, today it dawned on me that I really should just map everything till we leave so that I can make sure we eat everything up/nothing goes to waste. I normally shop at the beginning of each week but I'm thinking I'll plan a trip for later this week and that should take us through till we leave next week!

Still left on my to do list:
-Confirm with DH about what time he wants to leave next week. I'm hoping he'll say we can get on the road when we pick AG up from school. It all just depends on his work schedule. Here's hoping!
-Buy diapers
-Order rain cover for our new jogging stroller
-Pick up anything last minute that I haven't gotten already... inevitably, I'll find something we need at the last minute I'm sure. I know you all can relate to this.
-Reserve MNSSHP tickets so that we can get our AP discount.
-Cancel ADRs that I had originally scheduled for Saturday...since I tweaked our plans I need to cancel Hollywood and Vine so that I don't get charged $.
-Find one pink size 4/5 Mickey Croc. Yep, you read that right. I ordered Avi-Kate some new Mickey Crocs to match the set I ordered for AG. Well, she put the right one somewhere last week and we can't find it. ANYWHERE! (sigh...Andy even went through the trash.) I'm sure it will turn up somewhere, eventually. We've NEVER lost a shoe before and I know it won't be the last time this happens but did it really have to be the brand new shoes I bought for the trip?! Good grief.
-Clean the house.
-Laundry
-PACK!

On a slightly different note...looking to our Christmas trip I had planned for us to eat at Whispering Canyon since we are staying at WL. We've never eaten there before but the reason we were eating there was b/c of the rave reviews on the BBQ. Well, I just read that they changed the menu and the BBQ items that we were interested in are no longer on the menu. So, what should I do? Cancel? Keep it? We were planning to eat there on Sunday night. Our trip is Sunday to Thursday. My original plan was for us to spend the day at MK after we checked in and then come back for dinner at 6. That way we got out of the park before the chaos of the MVMCP starting. (We'll be doing that on Tuesday night.) My thought had been leave before it gets too hectic at the entrance/exit (we were there one time when people were leaving and a child got lost. Grandparent was pushing the stroller down MainStreet and they looked down and the kid was gone. Due to the MVMCP starting there were people pushing to exit and people streaming in for the party...it was nuts. It's why we always buckle the kids in the stroller to enter/leave the parks if we know it's going to be a really busy time.) anyways, the plan was leave MK, eat dinner at WCC and then relax at the resort. Swim if it is warm enough or explore with the kids. What to do, what to do?!? Any and all comments/ideas welcome. :) I'm also not opposed to hopping to another resort that is on the monorail loop since they are near the WL. Decisions, decisions.

Lastly, the computer is being weird! I was going to upload a picture of AG in his Peter Pan costume and Avi-Kate as Tink. I'll keep playing with it. Hopefully, I will be able to post it before we leave. They are so cute in their costumes. :)

Well, this time next week we'll be at MNSSHP! pixiedust:

I'm beside myself and really excited. And happy to have made it past this weekend. Whew. This weekend was my alma mater's equivalent to homecoming. Several family members are alumni besides myself...DH plus his sister and brother-in-law, my sister, and my cousin is currently a sophomore. It should also be noted that both of our sisters are named Caroline. :rotfl: Which makes it slightly amusing when we explain who is who in the family and where everyone went to school. Anyways, it's a weekend long celebration and we were covered up with family and friends all weekend. I enjoyed every minute of it but am so happy to have each of my kids back in their own beds tonight. AG actually got up in the middle of the night last night because he didn't want to sleep on the floor in his bedroom while his grandmother was in his bed...he requested that Nanny go sleep somewhere else. :lmao: While avoiding a meltdown at 6:30 this morning with a house full of guests was a pain in the rear it is slightly amusing now. Ha.

I just ordered the last few things we needed from Amazon just a little while ago. AND hip hip hooray...AG found Avi-Kate's Mickey Croc! :cheer2: He came waltzing out of his room this afternoon with it. I actually dropped to my knees and kissed him. So hooray for big brother. Tomorrow my plan is to call Disney Dining to get my reservations finalized...gotta get that Hollywood and Vine ADR for Saturday dropped so I don't get charged $.

And the latest on our Christmas trip?!? It actually might not happen...and I'd be okay with it. Here's what is happening...some friends of ours are trying to buy a house in our neighborhood that has been updated. We bought our house 5.5 years ago as a foreclosure and have remodeled it. (It was built in 1945 and it is currently not listed on the market...although we were talking about listing it this spring.) They have approached us and are interested in potentially buying it. They came this afternoon to tour it and they really liked it. They've asked us to give them a price. The catch? The house they are leasing they need to be moved out of by December 19th. So, we would need to be moved by then. Andy and I have decided that if this happens we'll put our surprise Christmas trip on hold because there is no way we could go back to Disney then pack and move. While I would be sad to miss our holiday trip the kids won't care because they have no idea about it...plus, we are going this week so it's not like they haven't had a recent Disney fix. Andy and I will be there in January for the half and will be able to see all of the new Fantasyland stuff then. So, there you have it. If we sell our house we'll push our Christmas trip back and if we don't sell it we'll still be going to Disney World. Either way it will be good. And we aren't counting on this yet because there are so many variables and this really is in the beginning stages. So, we'll see what happens... I'll keep y'all posted.

Here's an update of my to do list from earlier...
-Confirm with DH about what time he wants to leave next week. I'm hoping he'll say we can get on the road when we pick AG up from school. It all just depends on his work schedule. Here's hoping! Tentatively this is the plan. Andy just has to see how the rest of the week plays out at work.

-Buy diapers Done!

-Order rain cover for our new jogging strollerOrdered...is out for delivery today along with the stroller organizer so that Andy and I have a place for our drinks.

-Pick up anything last minute that I haven't gotten already... inevitably, I'll find something we need at the last minute I'm sure. I know you all can relate to this. I went yesterday to get last minute stuff...I'm hoping that I don't have to return between now and when we leave.

-Reserve MNSSHP tickets so that we can get our AP discount. Tickets are reserved and waiting at Will Call for us to pick up. I think we may go ahead and get them Saturday so that we don't have to hassel with getting them on Sunday.

-Cancel ADRs that I had originally scheduled for Saturday...since I tweaked our plans I need to cancel Hollywood and Vine so that I don't get charged $. Done! I did this yesterday along with the MNSSHP tickets.

Good grief. AG found it stashed in his room! Thankfully, we have it and it's getting packed in a suitcase today...it won't resurface till we are on the trip!

-Clean the house. House is currently clean...hoping to do a few things here and there before Friday but we'll see if it stays this way. With small kids plans like having a clean house tend to go out the window.

-Laundry. Working on it...over the weekend it piled up due to lots of house guests.

-PACK! Started and my project for today is to get the bulk of it finished. Minus last minute stuff we'll use up till the end. Thankfully, the weather has cooled off this week here and the kids are wearing long pants/shirts so I can pull all their shorts/tshirts to pack them.

In other news I tweaked our accommodations, again! :scared1: Actually, this was Andy's request. When we switched things at the beginning of September he wanted me to see if there were any one-bedroom places instead of a studio since we'll have the kids. At the time there were no upgrades available. He wanted me to call this week and see if by chance someone had canceled and we could change our reservation...well, I called this morning and they did in fact have a 1 Bedroom available. So, now we are in a 1 Bedroom at Grande Vista. We'll have a full kitchen and washer/dryer in our room. The kids will be able to sleep in the living room and we'll be able to stay up without disturbing them which will be nice. Plus, I had planned on us eating breakfast in the room at least once and that will be easier since we'll have a table with plenty of seating for the kids. I can even request a highchair for Avi-Kate. And speaking of breakfast I think we are going to try and grab breakfast one morning at POP! since we get our Tables in Wonderland discount at the value foodcourts. (I'm not sure if they are letting people use it at AoA? If they are we may try and check out things there.) This all came about because Andy was like we need to have Mickey Waffles for breakfast one morning because I promised AG we'd do that. ::yes:: We'll see...other than that nothing else is changing! At least at this moment it's not. :rotfl:

As I was tucking AG and his stuffed Peter Pan in to bed last night he asked me if I was excited to go to Disney because he was so excited. Sweet boy...more than you know. ;)

Sounds so great! I am excited for you to go just as if I were going!

Very cool that your house might unexpectedly sell. Your area has some wonderful old houses! One of my friends (also a college alum at your alma mater) has bought/remodeled/sold several of them and they are spectacular.

I read on the Disney Food Blog that AoA is accepting TiW...don't take my word on it, but that is what I have heard.

Nice on the bigger accommodations! It is always nice to have room to spread out when you have little ones along.

Hope you can find Avi-Kate's shoe. :(

THANKS! I'll be posting pics on fb/instagram so I'm sure you'll see some pixiedust in your newsfeed. :)

And thanks on the house...we love this area and the homes over here. They have so much character/charm. If/when we sell our goal is to stay over in our neighborhood if possible. We'll see.

Thanks for the heads up on TiW...I think we are going to try and check it out.
