We have a split stay in February and they are going to send us 2 sets of Magic Bands - Why? Should I call them and say don't. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Right now MagicBands are being issued for every unique resort check-in. That may change eventually but I suspect DVC members are much more prone to split stays than the general public. Probably just not a priority to eliminate the duplication.

Or they could just leave things as-is. Technically you do have two separate resort reservations.

Bands are available in 6 different colors so you could order different colors for each member of your party. Names are etched on the band for identification purposes.

Numerous bands can be linked to each individual's account so you could get the different bands and simply coordinate with different clothing or accessories.

But will the same information be on both sets? Nothing like taking one and trying to use it and it is the wrong one. (I ordered the same colors)

You can use the MagicBands interchangeably. Nothing is actually stored on the MagicBand except for a unique band id number. The MagicBand reads from your MDX profile which is where all of you benefits and entitlements are stored. All MagicBands assigned to an individuals MDX profile has access to the same benefits and entitlements.

It's like having multiple sets of keys for the same car. Any of them will be able to start the engine, open the trunk, turn off the alarm, etc.

As long as a MagicBand is linked to your My Disney Experience Account--and the batteries in the band continue to function--the band will work for park entry, door entry, room charges, Fastpasses, etc.

The RFID chip used for park entry, room entry, room charging, FP+, etc draws power from the touch point and should last virtually forever. The RFID KTTW card is not battery powered and can perform the same functions.

The transmitter that will be used for ride photos, interactive queue elements and character interactions is battery powered and should last 2 to 3 years.
