Two (Semi) Disney Dining Questions?

Hi, I will be going to Disney World for a few days in December with my husband and his two cousins - 10 & 12 year old girls. Pretty sure we will be staying at TownePlace Suites Orlando at Flamingo Crossings/Western Entrance, but not 100% commited.

One of the girls really wants to go to the Kona Cafe to eat - I still am not totally sure what the big draw to this particular location is, but she seems very adamant that she wants to go. I have never personally been, but am okay giving it a try if that is where she wants to go. Anyway, question on this one is if we do a late lunch at the Kona Cafe, can we leave our car at the hotel, and head over to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, or will we need to move to the Magic Kingdom parking lots? We are planning on being at the Magic Kingdom from 4 to around midnight. Definitely okay moving if need be, but figured I'd check if I would be okay staying.

Second question is one night my husband and I are going to do a nicer dinner solo. He is a big steak fan, so was thinking maybe one of the nicer steak places. Any suggestions on the best one in Disney?

Thanks you! Alyssa

you can walk (or monorail on the resort line) from the ticket and transportation center to the poly so I'd park there and then go to dinner from the TTC. you won't be allowed to. Park for the duration at the poly but it is super convenient to park in the MK lots and walk to the poly. easier than moving your car.

sorry not a steak person so much... this will be subject to debate but if price is no object then Yachtsman or Shula's. if it is the wave at the contemporary has a lovely filet for less (by Disney standards). I have had it (I love filet but will have it once in a while) and it is very good. for more like strip or porterhouse others will have to weigh in. there is also. some off-site place people love

No, you can't park and go to MK. The lots are marked as not for theme park parking. They simply aren't large enough time accommodate all of the people who would want to do that. Remember that the resort's own guests have to be able to park there. So, unless you valet park you'll have to move your car after lunch. Since you have to tip valet it costs more than the MK lot.

Another option is to park in the MK lot and take the tram to the TTC. It's a short 5-7 minute walk from there to the Great Ceremonial House wher Kona is or 1 stop on the resort monorail. You can then take the resort launch to MK after lunch which is about a 5 minute ride.

For the steak dinner, I would recommend either Le Cellier in the Canada pavillion at Epcot or the Yachtsman Steakhouse in the Yacht Club resort.

Kona is one of our favorites. Pretty much everything we've ordered there has been good. Coincidentally, the best steak I've ever gotten at WDW was at Kona. Yum! Have a good trip!

1) True.
2) Why allow free parking for a meal and not have to pay $20 for parking in the MK lot.
3) However, if you pay the $25+tip cost for valet parking, then you park the day and do MK.

3) Or use Tables and park for (at least) 3 hours free... plus tip of course. Even if eating in MK, get a drink at the bar and save the receipt.

Of course, if you don't have Tables...
