Is it possible to book two reservations at the same time at two different resorts using dvc points ? What are the refund rules with the dining plan if paid 6 months in advance and someone backs out ?

I can't answer about the DIning Plan but I can answer about being able to book 2 resorts at the same time...

Yes you can do this. We booked Hilton Head and Old Key West for the same 10 days in September 2002 - one booking was for my husband and me, the other was for our 2 teenage sons and their friends.

Thanks! can you reserve them in someone elses name or can they both be in the owners name ?

I believe they check your identification upon check in, so unless you are going to personally check into both rooms, you can't put both in your name.

Member Services will not book duplicate reservations under the same lead name (owner). They will need to be under different lead names if an owner is booking two reservations.

As noted, you can have multiple reservations with the DDP and later cancel one. You cannot be on both reservations initially as the main name but you can change around later and you can set it up so you can check in to multiple rooms if you want.

Thanks I was just wanting to make seperate reservations for another part of my extended family and wondered if it was allowed. I was also wanting to know about the dining in case a family member backed out of going as I know people sometimes do these things

You could plan to add the DDP close to the stay. By that time you will hopefully know for certain who will be coming. I made my DDP addition two days before arrival. I would not do it that close in the future but was not ceratin if we really wanted it or not until then.

Yes I thought about that but we are trying to do the DLX dining plan and wanted to secure some 2 point reservations so the plan will have to be paid before we can do that. I also want the money out of my hands I know it is bad but money out of reach is out of use is my theory. I think we wont invite and offer and save our points for the following year. I was thinking of offering to another family member to join us but think we have voted against it

There are only a small number of reservations that require a credit card pre-payment where DDP pre-purchase would be an issue (ie. CRT). Otherwise, most restaurants, including 2 credits, can be booked without pre-payment or DDP on your reservation.

Hopefully you are not intentionally booking 2 reservations with the definite intent to cancel one (at the last allowable moment) when you have made up your mind. I know it is "legal" to do that but if everyone does that, the availability will impact everyone!

No not at all. Never thought of doing that. We have my daughters friend going with us on our vacation. I have points I can use another year or offer to family to go but want them to stay in their own setup as they most likley would want to do a different dining plan than us so would have to stay in different accomodations than us. My daughters friend is going with us but I know things do come up for people.
