Two quick transportation questions

I guess it is more like two GROUPS of questions that I need to figure out for planning purposes:

1. We are leaving MK on 12/6 for the 8:00pm F! - I would like to get to DHS at about 6:30pm. What time should we leave MK? Best to take the boat or bus?

2. Same night after F! Dh and I are breaking away from family for a date night at the Poly. Will it be insane to take the bus to the Poly? Should we take a cab? are cabs usually right outside the park or do we need to call one?

TIA!

I don't think that there are any boats that go from MK to DHS. There is a bus that goes directly from the MK to DHS. That is probably the easiest method on Disney transportation. I think the rule of thumb is to allot about 45 minutes to get from one park to another via the bus system.

You can take the bus to Poly, but if you want to get there the quickest, cabs are probably your best bet. I've not actually caught a cab at DHS, but over at Epcot there is a cab stop, so I doubt you'd need to call a cab, especially if you're leaving near park closing. If no one else answers here, you can ask at Guest Services at DHS where the cab stop is, but my guess says it's near the bus stop (that's where it is at Epcot).

One other thing, the bus that goes from the MK to DHS runs from the TTC so you have to get there first by Monorail or Ferry.

The bus to DHS leaves from the TTC, so you will need to take the Express Monorail from MK to TTC, and then the bus from TTC to DHS. I'd say allow 20 minutes for the monorail, and 40 minutes for the bus, so that's about an hour. That's allowing for max normal wait time; average would probably be around 45 minutes. That doesn't include time to enter DHS and walk to the Hollywood Hills Ampitheatre.

Some may suggest walking to the Contemporary and catching a bus to DHS from there. The bus from Contemporary to DHS usually stops at Poly and GF on the way; considering that and the walk time, I don't think that option would be any faster on average.

Bus from DHS to the Poly boards at load zone #12. To reach the taxi stand, you just continue walking past load zone #12, to the end of the sidewalk and into the parking lot. So you can walk to the load zone, and if it looks not worth the wait just continue on to the taxi stand.

Their two better options the boardwalk bus then walk t dhs or walk to the contempory and take their dhs bus. If you want a dhs bus from mk you will have to take the momrail to the ttc then transfer to the dhs bus. the boardwalk bus will be one stop it goes mk to boardwalk the contempory bus will contempory to poly grand then dhs still not a bad bus. Here a tip take the bus to the ttc then walk to the poly the ttc bus might not be as crowed as the bus right to the poly. it be 5-10 walk or you can hop on the monorail for one stop.

1) When going from the Magic Kingdom to Hollywood Studios take the bus from the TTC, because it's a direct ride and will be a lot faster then walking to the Contemporary and getting the bus from there.

2) When going from Hollywood Studios to the Polynesian should you take the bus it will 1st stop at the Contemporary and the 2nd stop is at the Polynesian, plus you might need to factor in waiting for the bus if it's not there when you get to the bus section. So a taxi might be a better and faster option.
