We will be arriving at Aulani on April 20th for our first stay there and our first trip ti Hawaii. We are DVC members and are staying in a one bedroom garden view. Is the hair dryer in the villa a decent one like they have at Kidani? I need something with a little power because I use it to style my naturally curly hair. Also, since we will have a washer and dryer do they provide laundry detergent?
Thanks in advance for your replies and for any other tips that you can give. We are very excited.

Not sure about the hair dryer, but they will supply some detergent. I don't know exactly how much. There was enough for two loads when we arrived, and it was restocked at some point. If you do a lot of laundry, you may need to buy more (there was a price list in the room). We did a couple of loads and we were covered and had some leftover.

Thanks for this info. I was thinking about bringing a couple of Tide Pods, but didn't want to bring a lot.

If it's like other DVC, they don't supply dryer sheets. So I bring my own!

Great question! We arrive April 22nd for a week. Getting excited!

I was still hoping to get an answer on my hairdryer question. Can anyone help?

It is a separate hair dryer, not one in the wall. I have chin length straight hair so it seems powerful enough for me. You get one or two laundry soap boxes. I always bring more pods and dryer sheets. But I end up washing almost every night with bathing suits, underwear, etc. keeps the clothes I have to bring way Down. Also, I usually bring a small bag of pods and dryer sheets and lots of sun screen. Everything is much more expensive in Hawaii.

This is helpful. The dryers at Kidani are stand alone dryers that are kept in the drawer and I've found them to be adequate (unlike the wall mounted ones found in many hotel rooms). I really don't want to drag a hair dryer half way around the world so I guess that I'll leave mine home and hope for the best.
As far as laundry is concerned it's only the two of us so I think that we can get by with the two pods that I will be bringing along with what is provided in the villa. We will be at Aulani for 7 nights. Prior to that we will spend 3 nights on Maui and 2 nights in Phoenix. We're coming from the east coast and thought that it would be a little less hectic flying through Phoenix instead of LAX (hope so!).

Although I haven't paid attention to the brand, the hairdryers seem to be the same to me at all DVC properties now.

Normally you will receive one single use box of detergent which will be replenished on towel and trash day as well as full cleaning day if you are staying on points. If it is a cash reservation, you should receive one every day along with daily cleaning.

Have a great time.

here is the dryer:

i brought my own though so i don't know how powerful it is.

Just as a side note, we bring dishwasher pods too. It seems silly but I didn't want to buy that when I was there. I think I took four and used three. We just got a small bottle of tide when we went to Target. It was really small, I think 5 loads. We will probably take pods this time just for convenience.

they do include a small bottle of regular dishwashing liquid and a sponge (they even replaced the sponge after two days), but yes, getting dishwasher detergent is a good idea if you plan to make use of the dishwasher.

There should be packets of detergent for the dishwasher in the villa. Usually under the sink.
