Evening all
My first question is can I buy online from The Disney Store and use shareholders discount?

And my second is if we get half board vouchers can I also get Shareholders discount when paying? We plan on going to inventions and similar!! TIA

No and no I'm afraid :sad2:

You can only get the 10% discount by paying in store. I was speaking to one of the CM's in my local store the other day and mentioned it was a pain not being able to get the discount online and she said she can't even get her CM discount online either.

When you buy the half board vouchers, it says in the t&c's that it cannot be combined with any other discount. I know that things vary depending on which restaurant/waiter you have, but I'm sure several people have tried and been told they can't get the discount with the vouchers.

I reckon we saved a fortune this time on food - I'm going to sit down and work our exactly how much we saved when I get a minute - but it was a good bit I think :thumbsup2

So instead of the vouchers would you just recommend that I buy shares instead?

Thanks Ms Poppins. What a bummer :upsidedow so much for tryna be crafty!

RooMama my advice is look at menus here and on Dlrp magic. Pick your restaurants for each night and add up rough meal costs (sometimes I use set menu meal prices or just what I reckon we would choose). Then total all your main meal costs (shareholders applies to table service and buffets but not counter service, RFC, McDonalds, King Luds or Planet Hollywood) and multiply by .85. If this total is less then the price of the total your half board meal plan would come to I would get shares as its a bigger saving and you'll always have it plus the other extras like Salon Mickey and store discounts.
Hope this makes sense!

Yesterday I spent the afternoon going through all the menus and calculating the the cost of the set menu's minus the annual pass discount and put it all in an excel document.

If anybody is interested I can email them the file. Just as a comparison for reference perhaps

Hi Kizzabel,

Can I ask how you bought shares in Ireland? Any of the threads I've read seem to be about buying shares in Britain. If I've missed an Irish thread and someone can point me to it I'd be very grateful

Thanks a mill,

Paula

Hiya Paula

Here are the steps, Ive explained more in detail below
1 - sign up with share trading firm. You will recieve a password and a/c ref
which you'll need to sign in.
2 - fund your share trading account (easiest being credit card or online from
you Irish bank a/c
3 - It will take a few days for these funds to transfer from your bank to
trading a/c.
4 - Once money is in trading a/c purchase your shares (my broker tab).
5 - You will get a contract note. Print this and post it to the
Shareholders club (with fee if less then 20 shares)
6 - A few weeks later you receive your Shareholders Card.

Ok first do you have online banking? if so with which bank if you dont mind me asking? It is simpler if you have a credit card but this must be in your name.
If you dont have online banking (with the ability to transfer funds internatationally) then a quick phonecall to your bank will get this sorted. (it will take up to two weeks for this part to be fully set up).

Today sign up with fxcmsharetrading.com (recently changed to this name from odlsecurities if memory serves me). You need to sign up for small trades account. This may seem daunting, if like me you wouldnt know a thing about shares but stick with it They are very aproachable and if you need to ask anything, even something simple dont hesitate to email them. You will need to email some proof - like a passport copy and utility bills to them so maybe scan them now.

Decide how many you wish to buy. The share code is fr0010540740 (type this into google and it'll bring you to the share info). I would buy the full 20 shares to avoid the biannual shareholders club fee if thats do-able for you but if not all you need is 5 (you then pay a €30 fee to the shareholders club every two years)

Go to the Disney shareholders club website and fill in the application form and print this to be sent to the shareholders club once the shares are bought.

Then make sure you have the correct amount plus an additional €20 in your Irish bank a/c. Transfer it to your trading a/c. The details can be found on their website. Its a HSBC bank a/c which you transfer to. You must include your fxcm reference number and your name etc.

When the funds clear into this a/c you then purchase your shares. Log in to fxcm and you will see the mybroker tab. Its here you buy your shares. The share code is EDL-F. Market Order and Day should be choosen. Be sure you buy your shares during the day. The market closes at 4.30pm. Check Filled orders to be sure its gone thru.

Once purchased you will get a contract note as fxcm hold the shares for you.
Post/email/fax this to the shareholders club along with the printed copy of your application form from the Disney shareholders club website. Best to post if you have to pay the fee. They then send you your card.

Please, please, please come back to me if your having difficulties. I made mistakes at almost every step so feel free to pm me anytime if your getting stuck. Or if you'd like my email address pm me and I ca go thru any bits you want with you.

I forgot to add:
Fxcm charge you €14.95 to do this share trading. Its a once off fee.
