1. One member of our party is a vegetarian (eats eggs and milk, but no meat or meat products, including seafood). Would 'Ohana be a wasted experience for this person, or are there vegetarian dishes among the sides and salads?

2. I am not a fan of bananas, but am curious about the dessert here that everyone raves about consistently. Question: how "banana-y" is it? If I don't like bananas, will I not like this dish? (I'll suffer bananas for my health, but don't find the taste appealing.)

Thanks in advance!!

The vegetarian would really only eat the bread, salad, noodles and veggie side. But I think if you put in the request the chef with come out and make something special for them just as they do with food allergies. I am not a fan of bananas but the dessert is good

If you make a note on your reservation that someone in your party is vegan/ vegetarian, the chef will come out before your meal to discuss options. I've read some rave reviews on the special vegetarian meals prepared by 'Ohana chefs, so your friend should end up with an excellent meal. As long as you tell them in advance, of course!

I am sure if you ask they would have no problem whipping up a vegetarian meal. If I remember correctly with the bread pudding you can eat around the bananas. I think it is in the sauce and it is not actual banana bread pudding.

1) I used to be a non-meat eater and really I think it would depend on how your friend classifies herself as a vegetarian. I find O'hana to be gratuitously meaty. So if your friend doesn't want to see large chunks of meat served on skewers it may not be the place to eat. I would want to know examples of what vegetarian alternatives would available before I'd book there.

2) I don't remember tasting banana but I do remember the texture of banana. The dessert is insanely sweet. Very good... I wouldn't say very banana.

Thank you for the feedback! I think we will give it a try. Our vegetarian is pretty tolerant of others eating meat, so I don't think the skewers coming around will upset her or make her uncomfortable.

Again, thanks!

IF you don't use the sauce on the bread pudding, it does not taste like banana's at all. I hate banana's and love the bread pudding at Ohana.

I love 'Ohana, but it's probably the last restaurant I would suggest to a vegetarian. I'm sure they will accommodate, but I've never seen so much meat flying around before. It was one skewer after another. When I think of that dinner at 'Ohana, "MEAT" is the first word that comes to mind.

I agree about the bread pudding, but I have detected pineapple in it before. Also, it's true the sauce is what has the bananas/flavor in it, but again that's what makes the bread pudding for me, would not like the dry bread pudding on its own. Also, as one poster said, it is super sweet, but yummy  It seems from what others have said you either "love" it or "hate" it ;) I love it so much, would probably stop going to 'Ohanas if they stopped having it.

The chefs will work with you regarding vegetarian options. This is a picture of a Gluten free vegetarian option. I believe they make a similar dish with noodles for people who are not gluten free. I'm sure the chef will accomadate you as best he can.

1.) I'm not sure about that. Although, the chef will accommodate.
2.) not really. I'm not that into bananas either, but I enjoyed. It's just a very light banana taste. Not to bad!

I can think of a few items on the menu there that aren't meat, but the bulk of the meal is by far grilled meat portions. They do have seasoned broccoli, lo mein noodles, and a salad appetizer which are all delicious. Plus, as others have stated, they will make a special meal for your vegetarian vacationers.

And the Bread Pudding? Not that banana flavored (unless you pile on the fosters sauce, and use the bananas that come with it. That being said, its AMAZING, and easily my favorite dessert. I've eaten far, far too much of it. It's beyond words.

I don't know if this is permanent but when we ate at 'Ohana last week, our dessert was not a banana bread pudding at all. It was a pineapple coconut bread pudding with caramel sauce. Not a trace of banana, and it was very good.

We were there last night and there most definitely were bananas in the sauce. I'm not banana lover, either, so I didn't take any. No hint of banana taste jut using the sauce sans nanners.

I was there with a vegetarian for breakfast, the waiter asked if his meal was ok because he didn't eat much and he said no, it's fine I'm just a vegetarian, he said he would be right back and minutes later came out with a tofu/veggie stir fry dish. He said it was delish!! I'm sure if they can do that for breakfast they could do it for dinner :).
